June 2026 Writer Support Thread

Are these ChoiceScript-exclusive or it allows for other engines?

I was hoping to update The Rise of Cthulhu with Chapter 5 in June, but that’s not going to happen, though I do expect to finish it in July. I lost almost the entire month and got very little writing done. I haven’t had that much sleep, and as a result it takes me a lot longer to do everything, and it made writing more difficult on the rare occasions when I did have time. I’ve also been spending a lot more time looking for work, and I wasted a lot more on what was supposedly a job offer but turned out to be a scam.

Could I get a spot for Velocity? It wasn’t actually an update but the web demo just went live today.

Thanks lots!

Thanks for the clarification. It’s quite not IF (as it’s instead a story-heavy RPG), but the Lily Adventuresses! series, of which the fourth of the planned five episodes is what I’m currently working on, counts.

It’s back! I’ve caught up on the ChoiceScript releases, new WIPs, and updates for Feb-June. Let me know if I’ve missed any and I’ll add them to the list. June’s Choicebeat also came out recently including an interview with Paul Wang - do take a look!

Add my voice to the chorus. Wonderland Noir should be getting a July update. The chapter is mostly written, I’m just debating if I should add some vignettes and smaller ‘side quests’ before releasing.

I updated The Iron King’s Heir in June and plan on updating it again July 10 :slightly_smiling_face: thanks!

hi guys! this month somehow felt so long and so short at the same time. not sure what’s in the wind the past few months, but this year has been kind of kicking my ass. however:

i did do this! i actually think i have two scenes fully polished/very confidently drafted, since i’ve gone back to the edit-as-i-go style i used in my project’s Chapter 1. it’s feeling a lot better getting each scene (however small) really polished before moving on to other ones.

so…yeah! slow month technically speaking, but i feel like i’m on a better track now to making the project in a way that is satisfying/fulfilling for me creatively, and that i’m more likely to feel confident in putting out when it’s eventually update time again.

i’ll post the july support thread right after making this comment, for those of us in time zones ahead of mine (i think it’s july for some places, now?). congrats all on another month of progress

Yeah, none of this happened. I ended up needing an unplanned surgery on my right eye, so I spent the month laying around not able to see much of anything. But I can read stuff again, and my doctor said I’m good to go back to writing full time, so that’s good at least.

Hello! My WIP just went up a week or so ago!

And as for my June goals…

Cue maniacal laughter. Lol god no. Well, I did post my demo. But the summer holidays are well under way and the PC has literally just got back from their first mandatory chat with the admiral in Floresta. Which is basically the first thing that happens. I also had to tie up about 5000 inter-reactive variables from the end of chapter 2. It is about 19K words long already, and I literally haven’t started the actual stuff in my chapter 3 plan. See you all in July!

Outlined and over 50% complete, so I’ll call that good enough. I’ve slowed a bit in terms of wordcount from my previous highs over the last couple of months, but I’m considering that a good thing because I’ve been (once again) flirting with burnout, so slowing down is appropriate and necessary.

I’ve also been devoting a day a week to working on planning new things, which has been admittedly very refreshing.

I did get 15k written, but I am still working on 4b. I’m near the end! But I’m not there yet. Still, this feels like it was a good month.

June accomplishments:

  • Wrote a fair bit of a chapter 1 for a WIP
  • Have managed to sustain a daily writing practice for the first time since writing school
  • Ordered fingerless gloves because the AC at my desk is overpowering
  • Got a “new member of the month” award, which was surprising and flattering

Pretty good, all told. I keep thinking about how many authors say they weren’t very prolific at first, but consistent practice meant they were turning out tons of words eventually.

e: Oh, and I did a lot of outlining. I keep forgetting that’s actual work.

Please let this be the case, I am such a consistent snail :snail:

Same. Though there is something to be said for consistency. I doubt I will ever be a particularly quick writer, but I have yet to give up on writing. It might take some of us longer, but a steady pace will eventually cross the finish line.
