FINALLY. It is time.
After some terrible inefficiency, the first chapter of the sequel to I, the Forgotten One is ready for release. If you have never heard of ITFO, the link to its demo can be found here.
Plot Summary
Three months have passed since Queen Elya’s dramatic rise–and potential fall–from power. An early winter has placed the war on hold, but finally, the snow has begun to melt. In the east, a great and terrible power slowly moves toward the heart of Kanton. The Janowitz call for aid, and the crown must answer.
Should Sobik’s bastard have taken the throne, they must deal with a disloyal and unruly kingdom. Conspiracy in their own home causes chaos. Will they maintain an even hand and guide Kanton out of darkness? Or will they succumb to paranoia and tyranny?
If Sobik’s bastard remained loyal, they must deal with the existential threat riding in from the steppes and the threat of their own spiraling thoughts. They no longer teeter on the edge of a cliff, but the road to recovery is a long one. Is it even possible to walk while marching at the head of an army?
Here are the features at a glance:
- Continue the story of the Marshal from I, the Forgotten One
- Continue from three possible ending points, as either Marshal, Regent, or Monarch of Kanton
- The fate of characters rest in your hands: save them, let them die, or kill them yourself
- Lead the Marshal down a path of peace, or let them embrace war as their only future
- Seek reconciliation with the Church or scorn her entirely
Changelog:
August 19th, 2025. 1 chapter, 89,976 words. Initial upload.
Unique Features:
Returning from ITFO
All major features will return from I, the Forgotten One, including the intimidation system, the race system, unique gender interactions, and the three primary mental health routes. Your entire army can be recreated exactly as it is in ITFO inside ITUO.
Romance
There will be one, possibly two new romantic interests introduced in ITUO. This will include an exclusive F/F romance route. Additionally, a future character not yet introduced (not Rade) may be made romanceable as well.
Perspectives
ITUO regularly bounces perspectives between characters, continuing the tradition established in the first novel and reinforced by Whiskey-Four.
Wordcount: 89,976 words, 1 chapter
Additionally, I have opened a Patreon! If you are willing to pitch in a few dollars a month to support me and hear my ramblings about writing and ITUO, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you so much! The link can be found here: John Louis | Author of Interactive Fiction | Patreon
The public alpha can be found here: CoGDemos . I would highly recommend playing a save with as many characters alive as possible, as dead princes do not provide compelling interactions. Additionally, the usurper route currently has the most variation, and may be worth a try even if you remained loyal in ITFO.
