The Prodigy WIP

THE PRODIGY

Two years ago, you were the undisputed icon of the figure skating world. You had the speed, the grace, and a trophy cabinet that was running out of room. Then came the Tokyo Grand Prix—a mistimed jump, a sickening snap, and a career that ended before the music stopped.

Now, you’re back. But the world didn’t wait.

With a titanium plate in your ankle and a reputation to rebuild, you return to the elite circuit to find a new generation occupying your throne. From the tattooed “Ice King” of Russia to ethereal gothic stylists and powerhouse jumpers who have redefined the limits of the human body, the competition is fiercer—and more personal—than ever.

In The Prodigy, you will:

Reclaim Your Crown: Navigate the grueling physical and mental recovery of a top-tier athlete as you climb from “Unranked” back to the Olympic podium.

Define Your Identity: Choose your gender and pronouns, and decide if you’ll stick to your classical roots or embrace a bold, new aesthetic to intimidate your rivals.

Navigate the Rink: Balance intense training sessions with the high-stakes drama of media days, sponsorship deals, and locker-room tensions.

Find Your Anchor: Build deep, complex relationships with eight unique rivals—each with their own reasons for wanting to see you succeed… or fall again.

The skates are laced. The world is watching.

Show them why they called you the Prodigy.

Romance Options

Mikhail “Misha” Volkov — The Ice King
Russian
Broad-shouldered and intimidating, with dark curls, steel-grey eyes, and tattoos winding up his throat, Mikhail Volkov dominates the rink with ruthless precision. Known as the Ice King, he’s spent the last two years ruling the world you once owned. Your return doesn’t intimidate him—it excites him.

Jae-Hwa Park — The Golden Retriever
South Korean
Bright-eyed and endlessly warm, Jae-Hwa’s easy smile and messy ash-blond curls make him impossible not to like. Beneath the cheerful energy is a fiercely dedicated skater who feels everything deeply. Loyal to a fault, he never quite stopped hoping you’d come back.

Rafael “Rafa” Silva — The Black Mamba
Spanish-Brazilian
Compact, muscular, and always wearing a sharp smirk, Rafa carries himself with effortless confidence. A scar across his cheek and a lip ring only add to his dangerous charm. Unlike most skaters, he doesn’t care about your old reputation—only whether you can keep up now.

Kaito Vance — The Fairytale Prince
Japanese-Canadian
Tall, elegant, and quietly composed, Kaito moves with the kind of grace that makes everything look effortless. His calm brown eyes seem to notice more than he lets on. Beneath the polished perfection lies someone who understands exactly how heavy expectations can be.

Lilith Blackwood — The Siamese Cat
British
Sharp-featured, gothic, and strikingly elegant, Lilith carries herself with icy confidence and razor-sharp wit. Her sarcastic tongue and intimidating presence keep most people at a distance. But her loyalty to the people she cares about—especially you—is unwavering.

Saffron “Saff” O’Shea — The Goldfish
Irish
Freckled, bright-eyed, and full of contagious energy, Saffron lights up every room she enters. Her bubbly personality hides a fiercely hardworking athlete beneath the surface. No matter what the world said after your fall, Saff always believed you’d return.

Yuki Shiro — The Snow Fox
Japanese-Finnish
With pale skin, silver-grey eyes, and a soft white bob, Yuki has an almost ethereal presence. Quiet and observant, she speaks little but seems to understand far more than she lets on. Being around her can feel strangely calming… and a little unsettling.

Imani Diop — The Night Queen
French-Senegalese
Tall, poised, and effortlessly commanding, Imani dominates every room she enters. Her powerful presence and elegant skating style make her impossible to ignore. She respects talent when she sees it—and your comeback has definitely caught her attention.

Heads-up, just got this one: “startup line 26: invalid create instruction, no value specified”.

It worked, but i found another :sob:

This is amazing, and I already love it. I will definitely keep an eye on this one as it grows.

Minor feedback: Jae-Hwa keeps changing my pronouns to female during his lines when I play as a male MC. I’ll try it as a female MC and see if the issue remains.

this plot sounds so good! and i love figure skating looking forward to more :heart_suit:

Excellent work so far, an interesting concept and very good writing. I look forward to reading more.

Though I cant say I love the forced romance choice… i dont particularly care for either of them and wouldnt have chosen either given the option

Might i suggest running a random test and playing through it a few times before posting. I tend to find that not doing that ends up in more of these bugs popping up

so far an interesting start, although i’d like to see more to get a better feel for what’s really going on. i love figure skating so immediately i’m here and ready for this… i would like to know how old the mc is, and also why should i care about mikhail or any of the other guys winning when i’m playing as a woman? unless the mens and womens disciplines are not separate here, i just couldn’t possibly care about the mens competition in relation to my own comeback because i’m not competing against them, y’know?

should be she since my mc is a woman. and then i also hit the line 1295 bad label, unfortunately.

Isn’t the Grand Prix F1?

You are right! I believe they meant the NHK Grand Prix?

This was a fun start! I liked how with just a few lines you showed what the MC’s family is like, and how the sister’s stubborn support could push any MC the player might play as to return to the ice. I also liked the banter between the MC and the other skaters. I did think there were spots we could have had more choices, however – such as when the reporters enter, an MC that is returning because they want to prove everyone wrong might confront the reporters, or decide to speak to them so they some say over what the reporters will report, or decide to wait until they can show they can skate in competitions again, etc.

Looking forward to meeting the rest of the skaters!

Part of the story is that mc has a former partner and ex, that’s what the choice is. After a while you’ll get to the point where you can choose the route you wish to go on, there’s no forced option.

It’s part of the story’s plot<3

The IF itself isn’t so realistic to the real irl figure skating.

In this story the gender doesn’t matter, so yes the disciplines aren’t separate here<3

Competition names and locations won’t be accurate to the irl figure skating ones, this is a work of fiction so everything should not be taken literally!<3

I’ve fixed most errors I’ve been notified of and I’ve seen myself including that one!

I found some bugs.

Practicing in front of the mirror gives an error called startup line 512: Non-existent variable ‘personality_’, and I also can’t seem to go beyond the junior scater, who looks like he wants to vanish without getting this error, startup line 1174: invalid @{} at letter 7; there should be a space after the first word

Both of them fixed!<3
