It feels like I have read almost everything here, now I just log-in on daily basis in the hopes of getting updates from any WIP’s. Can you guys suggest me any good game/WIP, though I doubt I haven’t already read it.
Hidden gems (published):
- Saga of Oedipus Rex by Jacic
- The Day after Ever After by hustlertwo (the Parenting Simulator, by the same author is a gem as well)
- A Sensei’s Story by RanDomness
- The Passenger by pimenita (unsure how hidden this gem is)
- Life of a Mobster and Life of a Wizard by Lucid (while these aren’t hidden, they aren’t talked about as much as Lost Heir trilogy and Space Force)
- Lords of Aswick by Goshman (oldie but goodie)
- Tin Star by AllenGies (a gem that is not at all hidden–I am contractually obligated to recommend it)
I read them all except lords of Aswick and the saga of Oedipus,ty.
I justed finished the Fallen Hero series, and it was the first time time I got to play as a trans characters, and… wow. The second game let’s you make some choices related to dysphoria that I didn’t expect to see here and as a trans woman myself gotten me really invested in the history and made me cry several times.
Brief spoilers here: the talk with dr mortum about your use of the puppet and the shocking revelations and choices you can made, specially if your puppet is from the same gender as you and the choices you can make are so well written. And several other bits where you can explore this are so good.
I’ve never seen something on fiction so well written and tought out, I definitively will explore this more as I really loved the game. Are there any other choice of games or hosted games that let you you play as trans characters as well? I played many games and some of them have trans NPCs here and there, but I’ve never seen a game that let’s you play as a trans woman.
Are there any recommendations?
The Midnight Saga: The Monster by C.C. Hill is a good one. There are several special moments in the story related to being trans. There are also non-binary specific moments, so if anyone is interested in playing as enby character could check it out as well. Overall it’s a great and very inclusive story, I enjoyed it a lot.
For games on the CoG label released after late 2018, you can always play as a nonbinary character but playing as a binary trans character is less common. I’m not familiar with all the releases and it’s not always specified in the summaries but off the top of my head you can play as a binary trans character in Heart of Battle and The Fog Knows Your Name. You can play as a trans woman in Moonrise and If It Please The Court too.
Thanks! I really appreciate the answers! I’ll definitely check those games out.
I don’t like the slow romance (like Wayhaven Chronicles 1, where there were only meaningful glances and nothing else. It’s not bad as such, but not my cup of tea) I would like to read something with the rapid development of romance, so that the characters enter into a relationship in the first half of the book (maybe a little later, if this is a series with at least 2 books already released). I like to read more how the relationship of an already official couple develops and enters new depths. SoulStone War, although I hate the turn the story has taken in book 2, but it more or less what I want from romance (Daelynn path). And yes, I’m only interested in f-locked Ro (selectable gender RO could work too if they Really good). So, any recommendations?
you sure are picky lol I can’t think of anything like that where the ro is female and not gender selectable, but I can’t promise you it’s good since I don’t know if you’ll like it
but I like them so the passenger? evertree saga? have you read them? I’m afraid there’s nothing out there exactly like daelynn
There’s a lot of this in standalone CoGs, (and also CoG series now I think about it) I think games where a romance starts in the early-to-mid-game are in the majority. But I’m afraid I’m not very familiar with Daelynn so others will be able to recommend more specifically ![]()
While I played Heroes Rise I would not recommend it for beginners basically it is not really letting you freedom by requireing a walkthrough for it.
This because it gives the people a wrong impression in that there is a right way to play if it is their first (payed) game.
I agree with Choice of Robots. I really loved replaying this with how diverse it is.
What I either would recommend from CoG are Choice of Kung Fu for Wuxia lovers as it is like an interactive chinese webnovel.
The Hero Unmasked cause it is an easy funny story
From HG
I would recommend Tokyo Wizzard cause it gives an interessting experience of being in Tokyo either as local or oversea student
The Last Wizzard cause it is a really readable experience of getting isekaid.
Life of a Space Captain that is a really interesting and different take on a future like ST or ME but with way more indepth.
The Passenger if you want to have an older god like experience
Wayhaven Chronicles for experiencing what it is to be a detective in those crime shows like Inspector Barnaby
Fallen Hero Retribution one of the best stories I have ever read. The writing stile is one of the best I have read and just like Robot it gives you many different options of you want to be
So does genre matter? Or are you looking for books that have great RO and don’t mind the genre?
Have you checked out Heart’s Choice yet?
The Fernweh Saga. In the romance department, the first game is much like Wayhaven, where it’s about getting to know the ROs a bit, but it feels like there’s more progress than TWC b1. And the romances will move quicker in b2, too. They are all fairly decent to the MC in b1, too, instead of acting like a bunch of asshats.
You can check out The Soul Stone War. Not quite like Wayhaven, but all about the team and found family. The romances don’t drag so much in there, either.
Fallen Hero, if you can take the darkness. It’s not romance-centered, but romance is featured pretty heavily in it, and the romances are awesome. The story isn’t for the faint of heart, however.
The Golden Rose is one that many people love. The single male RO available in b1 is not my cup of tea, but if you like shy, blushing sweet men or grumpy badass women with a heart of gold, you may love it.
Like @AletheiaKnights said, you may want to check out Heart’s Choice. I haven’t really found one I can recommend, but I’m sure others can tell you their favorites.
Another one with promise, if you can take a darker story, is A Mage Reborn. The focus isn’t romance, but it is available and is well-written.
There are a lot of WIPs with demos to play, as well. My favorites are:
The Voice of Silverking (progress on this one is stalled but it will be finished)
Replica: Between Universes (a bit dark, but the LIs are awesome)
Another one without a romance focus, but has a great story, great writing, and romance options that are really interesting and good is I, the Forgotten One.
And one more… Blood Moon.
That should keep you busy for a while. ![]()
just looking for doctor games heheh. i really prefer if it have romance! thanks!
Citadel by @bouncyball is precisely what you are looking for!
Ahh, thanks for the plug!! And @aaaaaa2222 , I hope you enjoy ![]()
IT WAS SO GOOD AHHHHH!!! thanks for writing it xoxo. cant wait for future updates!
Hello everyone !
I am searching for any text based games like the ones here, but in which we play a character (fully customizable) who isn’t a hero but someone that none love, or a MC that is hunted. Something like that !
Anyone have suggestions ? I take all the suggestions you can give me !
There is one I like, it’s a text based game on itch.io the name is “The Overtaken”, you can customize your MC and your personality, I don’t know about the hero part, but everyone in the story is tethered to a ghost, MC is a special case and because of it the ghost became dangerous to them.
