There is also “a study in Steampunk” a really good game
Slice of Life is something I dont think I’ve seen done on here
there’s a good slice of life game called Wild Summer in the works, though I don’t know it’s status since the topic got locked in january, it hasn’t been pronounced dead yet, and if it does get finished it would offer good representation for it’s genre.
“The Butler Did It” has steampunk elements. It gets basically zero attention these days, but I had a really good time with it. Underrated. Check it out!
I think we could use more samurai stuff I’m addicted to it after playing ghost of Tsushima
Maybe you could create a mangement sim for a daymo.
Kinda like Tudor Intrigue but set in Edo Japan
That actually sounds cool but I have no idea how to code or how to make a game for the forum
That’s okay, the creator of this topic was asking
which topics are underrepresented and I feel that mangement and historical games are the most underrepresented.
I just wanted Wild Wide West setting game, become an outlaw and such.
For the genre tho, I would like more slice of life genre or lighthearted theme. Just a simple story about friendship/school/life, set as teen in highschool.
Just a chill game really, recently I developed soft spot toward this genre (I was didn’t like it first and easily get bored by it)
Cosmic horror and as some else put diesel punk.
More noir/cyberpunk games would be nice, something along the line of Rent-a-Vice. I don’t know you people but I’m kinda sick of high fantasy, romance centered, young adult stuff now, I want something mature and dark (not edgy kid dark).
There’s actually an awesome WiP that fills this niche!
Thanks, I missed this, anyway it doesn’t have to be a cyberpunk game, just any kind of noirish title with mature themes that isn’t aimed to younger readers.
Sure thing. I like the noir themed stories too so I have a couple of them bookmarked! They’re all currently WiPs at the moment, but they’re still awesome!
I like this, too bad that none are complete.
I imagine that horror, real “oh no, now I’m scared to go to the basement” slasher-style horror is hard to accomplish with this medium since what’s really scary in so many horror stories is a lack of agency, being helpless, really selling that the protagonist is trapped in mortal peril with no way out and you’re stuck right there with them, and that’s rather the opposite of what CoG offers.
There are some horrific settings and premises, like the World of Darkness, which lean on the seductive and binding qualities of inhuman levels of amorality, how much easier the road is for you and how compelled you feel to become worse, which I think works as horror if you’re in the mood. But otherwise I imagine it’s hard to sell helplessness in a choose-your-adventure set-up.
But, hey, if any of you can prove me wrong, and have an idea for a terrifying CoG game that folks will feel compelled to buy and read through instead of lighting their laptops on fire, I say go for it!
Fantasy / magical school don’t need representation here, since I think that half of the WIPs have that genre. I personally like a story with supers dealing with mundane situations
I will be brief and just to be clear, i dont have fully knowledge of all the wips, without further ado…
I say that genres as mundane fantasy really lacks of representation, mostly I read is just the epilogue, and the only one close to this is Smoke & Velvet by @cjlaray at least for a briefing in the menus, can’t say it’s a gender but protagonism on fellas as witches and fae really lacks too, but in this case in several wips of these two (specially witches) have only cancelled wips all over the place, in the case of faes, the closest thing we have is the nameless by @parkerlyn, yet we have to be fair that the authors have different ideas and genres preferences in both read and make 'em, personally I checked always blindly to see if catch my interest or not, heck there’s even some releases and wips of things I never thought I’ve been interest, but thats just personal, but also horror need a push, but exist and I hope for the best of all the authors of accomplish their projects, cheers.
I just really want more slice of life sort of games, I loved parenting simulator and the demo for Curious Cuisine. A Comedy of Manors looks like it’s shaping up to be one of my favourites.
