Which WIP would you bring back from the dead?

Enjoy! Even the poor DLC didn’t get as finished as we wanted, but it’s still a great romp

Ah, don’t sweat it. I’m sure it’s fine. Besides, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Maybe once you have Book 3 out the door, you’ll circle back and tidy up stuff a bit more in Book 1 and 2. That’s something a lot of authors here do, which I’ve always appreciated. I know Jim, so I’m somewhat biased, but the best example I can think of is Zombie Exodus Safe Haven Part 2 which I went to replay before part 3 and between tweaked content and added material, it was like playing a new entry. I was absolutely blown away because I wasn’t aware he had done it.

Honestly, at this point it’s one of the reasons I replay titles, particularly by certain authors: odds are I’ll see something new or different (and almost always better) than the first time I played.

Through Broken Lenses. It was perfect, moral grey father figure who still tries to love you and raise you right? Check, broken MC with PTSD? Check. Interesting ROs? Check

A shame it has been abandoned.

I don’t think it has, it’s just very slow to update

Honestly 2&3 have gotten lots of tidying over the years…still need more but we do it.

And yeah Jim and I go waaaay back he’s good people

You & @JimD are absolutely ChoiceScript O.G.s.

What’s nice about ChoiceScript game tidying is that it usually isn’t this George Lucas/Ridley Scott hack job where they fundamentally change up the nature of things, but rather just nice bits of rounding off edges and adding in some reactivity based on player feedback (like “hey how come I can’t respond this way?”, well now you can!).

Black Tabby Games is taking the same approach with Scarlet Hollow, which is partly why I’m not shocked the game is so popular in these parts.

Lol thank you

And yeah I love the ability to update and keep up with nuances, as well as making things more culturally relevant and allowing the stories to socially evolve as well. I will always listen to the fans, and love that I can bring forth whatever they want/need to feel included and represented. You just simply cannot do that with traditional print media.

@CANhugeverycat, sounds like Smoke and Velvet. I heard that it is being rewritten under its new title: When It Hungers.

What was the WIP where you were in some type of agency, could choose what supernatural creature you wanted to be, had to solve crimes, and work with others you could develop relationships with? Your character was supposed to be restricted from using your abilities, had some type of psychosis/deep trauma from being experimented on. I always chose to be a porcelain doll, and I loved the RO who was essentially your handler. The writing was fantastic.

You’re right! Thanks so much! I couldn’t remember if it was like Ash and Stone or Blood and Smoke, etc.

Oh that’s definitely Smoke and Velvet (which is now renamed to When It Hungers)!

https://dashingdon.com/play/cjlaray/smoke--velvet/mygame/ <---- You can play it here, but iirc it’s gonna be rewritten and transported to twine! The dashingdon version won’t be updating though.

Here’s one that I’m not entirely sure is abandoned but since it’s tumbler page has been purged from the archives of the internet there’s a high possibility it has been, it’s a dashingdon game called Brindle. It was funny, it was good and even though it never had forum page it seemed like it had good work put into it. I really liked it.
