Well the Shadow Lord tribe does give you a bonus to investigation. Though I think I played the Shadow Lord tribe well (Even Elton mentioned I was the better Shadow Lord than he was lol)
I played as an Ahroun, so my main build was around social rolls with a fair amount of mental abilities. And if it came to a fight I could just spam crinos form with wildcat and Clays gifts
I don’t feel like I did that well as a Shadow Lord because of what I read in this wiki. Shadow Lords - Werewolf: The Apocalypse Wiki
So I didn’t really see a lot of choices that involves long-term planning or big schemes that feels like something a Shadow Lord would do. Nor did I see a lot of options that involves actual assassinations.
Garou regeneration is fucking insane. Black Tarn was malnourished and weak from being chained in silver for weeks and having her guts ate, and she still regenerated in moments.
Daphne regrew a new hand after my MC cut her old one off.
I saw that Black Tarn part and it was crazy too. Though I was used to it at that point.
Hey, as long as you’re not failing your intimidation or leadership rolls, Grandfather Thunder is still proud. And this game I believe takes a few different approaches to the TTRPG (especially considering their Tribe Bans). It does want to make sure that the game is playable to those who only have the bare amount of WOD experience, while also still being viable to veterans.
I do sometimes wish there was basically a female version of Elton or at least another female RO who has a darker personalities since the only RO who seem like a good choice for a Shadow Lord or a darker MC is Elton and maybe Melodie though her perspective is fickle sometimes.
Nin and Podge are too friendly with humans and while Elton and Melodie sometimes feel the same, Melodie actually cares about them sometimes and Elton is male and I don’t romance male characters unless it was in game like Dragon Age Origin when I romanced Alistair just so I can have a female Grey Warden Commander who’s not only the Hero of Ferelden but also the Queen of Ferelden. Also cause he’s funny.
are we also not going to mention Melodies insides becoming outsides in the moth fomori factory? That was entirely metal, and definetly demonstrats that Garou are well above human
I didn’t see that part when I dealt with them.
That was crazy. The woman got shot at close range with a shotgun and just got pissed. Crazy!
Are garou physically stronger than vampires in their human form? Cause i thought they weren’t, yet Melodie cracks a fucking stone from one kick, and Nim kicked down a tree.
Well seeing as I was able to stop a Moth monster’s mandibles or (whatever it used) coming at me with both hands without transforming is pretty impressive considering how big these things are.
In homid form it generally depends, though they’re generally a bit stronger than humans (also depends on the garous gifts). In Crinos form, resounding yes, but that also depends on if the vampire possess Potence and at what rank it is. Glabro is definitely stronger than the average man. I compare them to humans, because unless a Kindred posses Potence, than they’re not going to be much stronger than they were as a human (since strength caps out at 5 dots for everyone)
EDIT: rechecking the Corebook, glabro form gives a plus 2 bonus to all physical stats while Crinos gives a plus 4. Assuming an even playing field, with a one on one between a Garou and Kindred, with the Garou just experiencing their first change and the Kindred just being embraced, I will say yes the Garou will be stronger than the Kindred.
EDIT EDIT: And also yes a kindred can mend damage similarly to a Garou, they are limited by the fact that they need blood in order to do so, which it’s kind of hard to feed mid-fight. A Garous regeneration uses their Rage, but Rage is replenished whenever they take damage or suffer provocation.
To add to how absolutely insanely powerful Garou are and can get, there are gifts, in lore, that can make you so incredibly strong that the strongest werewolf ever killed a Crinos werewolf in her homid form. And its basically impossible to hide from them since they have gifts that let them travel through the astral realm and stab you, anywhere, any time at almost no cost and all they have to do is high five some spirits. On paper its hilarious how insanely powerful these guys are lol
That is just peak unfairness.
Oh yes, once you start incorporating gifts, they can get pretty insane. To be honest, I just hope the Fera get an update to 5th edition now that W5 is released. But I digress, yes, Garou are insane, so pitting them up against vampires is kinda not the best challenge lol
Hey, Gaia didn’t mess around when she made Garou her personal Fangs
I’ve been hearing this a few times but what is a Fera?
Fera is a word used by Garou to describe other shapeshifters of Gaia, like Kitsune, Were bears, werecats etc.
Granted they all have their own names, like Gurahl for werebears, Corax for wereravens, Bastet for Werecats. There’s plenty of others as well, but they all mostly are on bad terms with the Garou because they kinda went mad with rage and starting killing Fear for “betraying Gaia”
Ah. Hopefully they get an update too since I remember that restaurant in the alley, when you investigate it, it said that the power in there feels more suited to a different type of shapeshifter so I’m hoping the author adds a dlc that includes playing as a different type of shapeshifter. Hopefully ones that includes reptiles like Crocodiles or possibly dinosaurs and modern animals like Lions, Tigers and Bears.
speaking of, apparently they werent her first choice. The Gurahl (bears) were the original defenders but once things got overwhelming, she made the wolves specifically for war. The werebears, on an absolute level, are the strongest of the Fera but the Garou seem to have the whole 'living weapons" down so well they exterminated like 90% of everyone else.
I also hope a wolfborn origin gets added too seeing how the Whipperpool is the only spirit that caters to a wolfborn. Which made me think “then why even add it as a option?”
