The Royal Legacy (New Poll on post #1466) (Hiatus)

Neutrality has had a… fickle… place in history, our world history anyway.

That’ll be up for discussion. The question being, “How do you believe Imora will fear in Imortallia, holding on to neutrality until things are at its brink and swooping in to seize the prize?”

Ignoring the fact that Imortallia is a war torn land that hasn’t known peace in over a century. I personally find neutrality a… I don’t think impossible is the right word, but one way or another getting drawn into the affairs of our enemies and inevitably drawn into the war too soon or too late is inevitbale.

@Dark_Stalker Noting secret alliances, if you did make such things, I’m assuming you mean resources only since your allies would likely be on your back daily wondering where your soldiers are. My memory on history isn’t as good as I would remember, but I don’t believe carting off supplies or showing favoritism while supplying ever ended well for nations, historically speaking. (In regards to staying out of the war)

@chrisbat Out of curiosity, suppose you weren’t in Imora and you were one of these warring factions, would you be okay with Imora’s neutrality? Or would you perhaps demand they join the war? How would you treat this neutral nation that sits by as the rest of Imortallia burns?

@_GG Thank you, I’ll do my best to deliver  Though if you can just survive until tax collection day, you’ll have a nice amount to line your pockets o.o Poverty in the courts isn’t very fun is it

i had to loan 10000 crown to improve the country :frowning: i’m literally broke :joy:

There might be some disappointment that the country isn’t immediately choosing sides, however, on the other hand generally countries will prefer non-interference to you joining the other side. Spain quite successfully sat out both World War 1 and 2.

The participants of the Spanish Civil War would like to contest this statement. No “neutral” country, even Switzerland, sat out WW2.

From what I’ve learned from @poison_mara on the matter, @Zolataya would be right on that point @chrisbat. Though their civil war wasn’t “directly” part of WW1 and WWII, they were still involved, specifically from receiving support and supplies from opposite poles of powerful nations during the war.

Though, I can see how a nation would rather have another remain neutral, can you trust that, that nation wouldn’t put their own interest first? Whether it means secretly supplying one side of a war or supplying information or what not, even if it means not directly sending troops.

Oh I’d send soldiers. But only criminal’s they’ll also be illiterate and mute so they can’t spill any secrets. And the only paper or message going around is a promise not to attack.

How would the officers issue orders to their men lol

I take it these mute soldiers won’t be getting promoted to officers anytime soon. Though being mute might be an issue when it comes to relaying information/orders to others.

They’re foot soldiers they don’t relay orders.

Yeah exactly so how will they ever move above being foot soldiers , men like that could make good intelligence officers ,however if you make them illiterate and mute they can neither tell you what they saw ,nor write it down,sp really its a two way street.

You said the only soldiers you would send would be criminals who are illiterate and mute. I was assuming you meant officers to since you said only those soldiers.

I was wondering, during our coronation scene could we have the option to snatch the crown from Elder Sestry and crown ourselves? In order to symbolize that we are not inferior in status to the Divine maybe?
Or would that just result in our immediate death?

Will there be a scene where we have to bribe the religious official? Later on it did not happen as much but earlier kingdoms often had to “donate” to the church so to be recognized as an offical ruler

You could supply both sides.

@Dark_Stalker, @maj12, @Shade1414, Soldiers lacking the ability to communicate would only really do any good stacking more to your numbers and/or leading to disastrous situations. (Lengthier answer in spoilers.) to sum that point up, I suppose that would mean that these silent warriors can only be used for front line foot soldiers, or generally to add to the “numbers”. They would hold no other real significance it would seem- in said battle, unless they have a means of grand coordination with one another and are swift on following orders given. Questioning the orders or hesitating would only cause confusion or otherwise lead to disaster.

@eVe Crown snatching hmm… breaking tradition, disregard for the Divinity and downsizing their role - yeah that would probably result in a riot.

  • It isn’t particularly the role of the Divinity to crown the MC, though its traditionally done to show good faith. I’m considering adding a choice to decide who gets to crown the MC. (I know someone brought up the idea once before, but I can’t recall who it was. >.<)

@Vman Have to, no. Can, yes. (Attempt I should say). The Divinity tends to play a more different role in this land.

@chrisbat True, though nations tend to (behind the scenes), supply more to the side they favor. More for the sake of (what would happen if Nation A won the war instead of Nation B?).

Note
There should be several places in the prologue where your… choice of words (excluding information questions) that affect your companions. If you reach the end of the prologue and nothing has risen for any or some of the members of your party, I would appreciate a heads up

Does… This mean an update? I MUST CHECK!

Yes they would be bad that’'s why they’re fighting for “Allies.”

Is that an update or an FWI?

True but neutrality even if your trade benefits one side disproportionately can be extremely advantageous even if you later are compelled or decide to enter the war. It was a tremendous boom to the US. War supply and manufacturing built up their economy while Europe was tearing itself apart for years.

@Arcania you know which chapter will you add meetings with other noble ladys for future marriage,
marrying a powerfull woman with the largest army can win us that Crown :smirk:

@DisturbedOne, @Dark_Stalker I wouldn’t really call it a hidden update I suppose , though it’s mainly pointed toward the relationship screen in the stats page. Growth or downfall of affection with others.

@chrisbat Unless that very act forces one side to start attacking the “said neutral” state for their unfairness. If I remember correctly America was still forced into the war though they attempted to remain neutral, beneficial as it was for America.

@anon4518890 I’m still in debate, but it’s likely I’ll have neighboring nobles come to visit the MC though I’m working out the layout. I’d hate to rush the relationship scenes as well as the romance scenes, including getting an heir… or otherwise.
