The Royal Legacy (New Poll on post #1466) (Hiatus)

Clearly we would build a coliseum and have the slave’s fight for their freedom. Or make a deal with a different kingdom slaves for a certain resources.

I’m very excited so far about Royal Legacy . It already had me hooked in the first chapter and I’m dying to see more. What I like most so far is the very interesting characters like Serenity and Artemis. Great job on it so far, I look forward to seeing more in future updates.

Hmm… Several possibilities could be…

Killing them off. The most brutal and direct method, also an atrocity that could (and probably would) incite the slaves and any of those sympathetic to them to rebel.

Allowing them to buy their freedom and be free citizens. While it isn’t really realistic, the fact that there’s hope could inspire slaves to work harder.

Trading them for resources. Other slavery using countries if they are ever in need in slaves could trade or purchase them en mass. Of course there’s also the fact that the quality of slaves given would affect their opinion of you (giving them all your worst slaves will probably cause a lot of problems for them)

Set them free. Something you really just can’t do without a major conflict. Whether it be between slave owners vs slaves, former slaves vs freemen, slave owners, vs slave sympathizers, etc. If you start off as a slavery country, simply breaking it off will probably cause more unrest than anything. You’d have a large population boost to your citizens and those new citizens would most likely have little to no skills. So they’d be very terrible as a new work force.

Truthfully if you conquer that empire at some point, you free the slaves who likely outnumber the free citizens, redistribute property there and instantly turn the country into a loyal stronghold where you can recruit troops like crazy. On the other hand you’ll likely need to invest in spying on the former slave owners there who aren’t murked by their former slaves.

Oh you could give slaves the chance at freedom if they join and serve in the army for a ten year period.

@vampierkid222 That’s actually an ingenious idea there o.o I think I remember @dark_stalker thinking something very similar, though for amusement. That seems a viable option

@Xrun321 Thank you  that means a lot to hear, don’t perish before the update though  I was worried about how well they (Arte and Serenity) were fleshed out, that definitely puts me at ease, thanks :punch:

@EmperorHeartless I’m curious, what makes you say that the slaves buying their freedom isn’t realistic? Supposing that their work “takes off money” from their debt/price paid for them and thus buying off their freedom. -

On that note, killing them off could either incite them to rebellion… but it could also push them toward fear and obedience, as unlikely as it sounds. Debatable, the reaction, though I doubt it would end well regardless.

I like the thought of that… trading them for resources… especially how it can play a role with diplomacy. I’ll be noting that for the future, nice one :relieved:

nod for the sake of things not getting too out of control, story wise, and having it revolve around slavery- as well as resulting in a revolution… once slavery has been reintroduced, it’ll be up to the MC’s future heirs to fix the mess.

@chrisbat Would you say that would be how you would do it in Imora, comparing @EmperorHeartless scenario here…

Redistributing property can be a complicated business, the land being taken from will likely be nobility, and you know how nobility like their land  Soon you’ll have unrest there and likely an uprising of the people. It’ll be a debate of defending your lands, trying to conquer others, whilst suppressing an uprising as well as funding the slaves. Though this scenario is also debatable.

@vampierkid222 Well… that’s an idea. Though I doubt the treasury could handle a burst of soldiers like that. Unless they are serving the military without pay, was that where you were getting at?

It seems a non slave empire conquering a slave empire can be much more complex that expected :smirk:

Well for once. Who’s gonna pay them when they’re slaves. Also if you look at indentured servants in the America’s there were numerous times where they were tricked. Making them “pay” for their own lodgings, charging them for random things, lowering the amount they earn for the work they do… That kind of thing.

You’d need to have a dedicated group to oversee slave owners and make sure slaves are getting their dues.

Any beautiful slave I come across, I’ll put them in my harem.

Such is the life of a powerful king. Bwhahaahhaahah…

Military service for all. I believe I said they also must replace themselves with children.

@EmperorHeartless Seeing that the population (numbers) are monitored as well as slaves (numbers), it wouldn’t be too far out of reach to say that there’s a specified group monitoring the slaves. Yes… I believe I’ve just the person.

@Knightstrike :confused:

@Dark_Stalker What good will the children be

Hey if you’re king, you have all these responsibilities like taking care of your subjects, fortifying your castle, ensuring trade, etcetera, etcetera…

You have to relax a little right? And at least enjoy your night, if you get what I mean? Hahahahaha…

Two future recruits.

Half of the world doesn’t get what you mean. Well more then half since there are more females then males now.

I’m pretty sure everyone gets what he means tbh lol.

Come on milady, this is my game session, my fantasy. Don’t ruin it.

There’s too much laws and can’t do already in the real world.

Let me fantasize that I’m a 210 cms. tall, hulking barbarian king with a huge sword and lots of beautiful babes waiting for me naked at night.

Oh and they’ll prepare me a feast right after our lovey-doveys.

Hail to the king baby!

@Knightstrike :rolling_eyes: Oh Knight :wink:

I had almost forgotten though! The barbarians… I thought I had overlooked something in the scheme of the story. The barbarian scourge.

I’m slightly on the bridge of spinning a wheel and seeing which enemy of Imora it lands on, - after internal affairs of course.

So we’re not going to get what’s really the best strategy option in a world of conflict of sitting back and letting everyone else tear themselves apart while we rebuild and prepare to swoop in and pick off the wounded?

You’ll get trampled like that. It’s obviously making multiple secret alliances and only sending the worst aid (criminals first) in secret.

I don’t think making secret alliances and sending token aid to conflicts is really an altogether different strategy from “hanging back and letting everyone else tear each other apart.”

I would love to see more of this game but i think the begining stat need a boost, not too much though. I get that we are really poor right now but that’s a little too poor for my taste :joy:.
