You can. It is not a game and always that it doesn’t include a link or anything else playable you can put a snippet. Same that you can put a paragraph or code to ask for issues
I’ve outlined the theme and main characters as well as several important story points. I have a few game mechanics which I want to play with, but I’m not sure they’ll work in IF format, but I’m fine with scraping them if I can’t make them fun. So far, I’ve written about 3k words and plan to continue next week. I’m aiming to finish writing around 2/3 of the narative by the end of the month, so I have more time to experiment with game mechanics in october.
My personal advice is to go WILD. It is the same advice I gave Eiw last year. Her game had a very very complex and different approach to a game and to investigation and she was afraid it wouldn’t work.
If there is a place to go wild it is this jam. There is no scores nor a commercial price or a media trend. If it doesn’t work, you have earned a clear example of what doesn’t work for a real project.
Finally picked one idea and started to work on it! The hardest part is trimming back the world-building and characters so they don’t get too big and overwhelming this year.
i think i’m going to follow mara’s advice and just full send whatever i want here. i was thinking of something more literal to follow the theme at first (celtic faeries folklore especially, and how roses are conceptualized in that folklore etc etc) but now i think i might just not do that and do something fun and silly and not super serious. we shall see
A jam is basically for that. So go and do what you want inside the theme. A Celtic folk story can also be silly and wild; or scary.
Imagination is the limit and deadline
I just planned my game’s opening. ![]()
Well I was bored on my break so I’ve officially started my entry in note form.
Has the note a rose on it? XD
I’ve already mentioned a rose. ![]()
I just need to message to Eiwynn’s partner as I’d like permission to base a character off her.
Also need your permission to base a character off you too ![]()
You have mine always is evil and charismatic.
I had expected last week to be my most productive, for this jam, but it ended up suddenly being very filled, and stressful, and in the end, I wrote almost nothing ![]()
Inspired by the bravery and creativity from others in this thread, I decided to get reeeeaaaalll weeeird with this story. Don’t know if anyone will actually read it or enjoy it, but who cares?
People will read it. People love read complete games and voting. That is a cool feature of jams.
Weird is good! I’m curious already!
Question, so can I just use the name night roses of an object and that passes, or do I need to incorporate the meanings of each of those concepts.
Yep. Imagination is the limit.
So I was finally able to finish Chapter Three of Quiver. Which took 3 times longer to write than the first two chapters which I’d done in a month.
So now I can officially start work on my entry. Ive ended up going for a completely different concept to my last message.
@poison_mara can I announce the title of my entry or do I need to keep it hush until it’s time to submit my entry?
You can announce your title, show art, and even snippets! If it is not a link to the playable game or the entire code it is fine
Good to know. Thanks for the clarification.
