Good idea! I will do that
You seem to have put my entry in a different format that everyone else’s, by the way– it’s [game name] [author], when all others are [author] [game name]! (Or did the game write me instead? Hm.)
No idea. I will check
I cast my votes the other day, but when I opened the poll to check the latest results, it was asking me to cast my votes again. Is there a way to just see the current results?
No idea I put it to block new votes using ip adress y will check it.
It is okay no idea why put the voting again. Next year i will use another poll page this has lost the quality a lot in late years
Just to let you know I tried just selecting the same choices just to make sure the IP thing worked and it told me I’d already voted. It just seems to lack an option to check current results, must be only after you vote and when voting has closed.
Only I can see voting results until deadline it is that way to avoid people feel pressured to vote X or Y.
Personally, I feel that when feedback is posted publicly on this thread, rather than through PMs, it helps all writers — those who participated in this year’s jam, other writers, or even potential ones — see what resonated with readers. To me, it gives those reading the feedback a better sense of what kinds of elements people enjoy or notice, and what areas might be worth improving on in general.
That said, some authors may prefer receiving feedback via PMs instead. So I was thinking, why not run a quick poll here to see whether the writers who participated in this year’s Halloween jam are comfortable with having feedback posted publicly in this thread?
Would that be ok, @poison_mara ?
I would personally be happy for any public discussion/feedback on my game. Sometimes it can be quite intimidating to PM someone you don’t know well your thoughts. Perhaps it could be an opt in/out for anyone not keen for a public discussion of their work? Happy to go with whatever Mara decides however.
As long as feedback is not destructive I’m good either way. Happy for DMs in regards to my WIPs so long as those are respectful enough and I’m sure most of us are overjoyed for any positive words for our works after so many hours making these pieces. I would lastly add that most of us are probably aware of some of the more glaring lackings in our own works — these were built under a time table and some aspects of the endings in my piece were a bit of a rush, though hopefully were still enjoyable.
I will say for my fellow creators for the jam that i felt each piece had its own personal strengths. While I wouldn’t say all of these (or really any of these, including my own piece) are going to appeal to everyone, each ought to and deserves their own audience.
I have always found getting feedback, any feedback, for anything is hard work, so I’m perfectly happy with public posting. However, it might be better for after polls have closed?
@CodedQuill ‘s game seems to be locked behind a patron?
I don’t mind public discussion of mine either
Public feedback (good or bad) is fine for me too. I also agree that it’s best to wait for the voting to end before posting any feedback.
Thanks, was just testing out how the Patreon connection worked! Should be fixed now.
I am ok with public feedback it writers are ok. The only limit was before deadline.
Last 24 hours for voting
Good luck, everyone!
I hope you all had as much fun writing your games as I did writing mine and reading yours!
Thanks again @poison_mara for hosting the Jam again this year!
Last chance to get a vote in (<2 minutes!
