Is your best friend male? Mine is always female.
Maybe best friend is always opposite gender from MC…
Hello! I just bought this game and I really enjoyed it. However, I bought it on AppStore and through Hosted Games app it was impossible for me to continue the game beyond chapter 3. It just showed me bunch of errors and something about missing file. I have been sending those errors to the support team of the game, but so far, there was no response. What should I do?
Are you sending it to this email?
support-gladiator-gps@choiceofgames(dot)com
How long ago was it? I used the support email once before and they were able to response within 24 hours. Not instant due to time zone difference.
The only drawback is Caesar intends to make my mc into one is that my poor mc cannot read or write.
@Sailendranath_Murmu
Hahaha yeah that’s correct! It’s a HG.
@Pheriannath @Talyrion @ClaimedMinotaur
@Eiwynn is right, I’m not going to be sticking too closely to historical chronology (but yes I definitely want to explore some of the famous events that occurred back in the day) Going back to the nomenclature for Julius Caesar, some of the references were by name, and in other times I believe it was ‘Consul’ - which was the office he holds at this time.
Historically, this would mean the triumvirate would have been formed with Caesar as the consul and acting as a somewhat puppet of Pompey and Crassus. But as pointed out, sticking completely to history would make things a little predictable and not as exciting - I have a general outline, but I’m still in the midst of story boarding and planning out what to do next (and settling the admin for the first book), so once the dust settles I’ll definitely start a new thread and get a proper discussion going.
What events would you guys want to see though?
Can’t really argue with that hahahaha. I’ve read that the parties during this period would have been… pretty wild to say the least. I think it’ll be interesting to break convention though. Explore some Arminius style betrayals We’ll see what works.
Hmmm. Not going to lie… that’s definitely going to make things a lot harder…
@InvincibleCenturion
Thanks for reporting the bug!! I’ve sent in a patch to HG. Appreciate you taking the time to report it and making the story better!!
You can actually. But it’s highly dependent on the actions you take!
@Cari-san
Ah great catch, I’ve included it in the patch I’ve sent in as well for both cases! Thanks for letting me know and reporting the bug! The screen shot definitely makes things way easier!!! Appreciate it And… you’re Hungarian? That’s so cool I’ve never actually met a Hungarian I think.
@Sailendranath_Murmu
Yep! Your best friend will be the opposite gender from the MC!
@Maggy
I’ve messaged you directly with regard to this! So sorry about the experience and thank you for reaching out!! Special thanks to @resuri08 for the help as well!
Yup and i love answering
Yes, I am Hungarian. Did you read some of my older posts? (I think it’s been a while since I’ve mentioned that.)
Also if by patch you mean the one which allows us to restart a chapter instead of the whole game if we die then I’m pretty sure the second bug wasn’t fixed.
Since this Caesar does seem to be Gaius Julius and game events include a certain House, I’m pretty confident that you already have plans for the Ides of March (eventually). I’m rather more interested in whether you intend to explore the civil war that follows afterwards.
Well at this point my mc really wouldn’t appreciate having to become an ordinary foot soldier after just being the arena champion. It would also be a waste of his new skillset under an incompetent commander.
Everybody can learn to read and write though. I think story-wise this is best handled by having that instruction be mandatory for former peasant mc’s where the other characters can use it to increase another skill instead. Much like with learning spoken Latin at Brutus’ estate.
@Cari-san
Oh I must have missed it heh >.< Hmm nope I just submitted it as a new patch. Thanks for the great catches!
@Pheriannath
Hahaha well, I think the civil war would be very very exciting. The battle against Pompey in Greece and then Caesar in Egypt. Even Caesar’s campaigns in Gaul might be interesting to explore (as wrong as it is chronology-wise) Glad you noticed that the houses were not chosen by coincidence
@idonotlikeusernames
Yeah it would definitely be a waste to send a well-trained fighter to become an ordinary fighter, but then leading men and being a good warrior are two different challenges as well. I imagine your MC would still have to climb the ranks from a junior officer to an auxiliary general.
This is a great idea! That way, everyone would be on a semi-equal footing. Besides, I really cannot imagine fighting in an army without being able to speak the language. That would be terrible
Yes, but my mc did both quite effectively during the games, particularly that naval battle. In spite of his humble origins.
I think that’s the main thing to remember, this is, at least partly an alternate history of the early Roman Empire and late Republic, including an earlier construction of something like the Colloseum. Meaning this Caesar is not the one we know from history, or at least not exactly. Which does allow the author to surprise even those of us who are (somewhat) versed in said history.
Being an officer it is more about being able to write at least simple reports. My mc already learned spoken Latin during his time at the Brutus estate. And while certain Aux officers were historically assigned scribes it would still be a strike against my mc. Particularly since the ones with the scribes were senior, not junior officers, though of course since during some Roman era’s many Aux. officers more or less bought their commissions I’m sure there may have been some illiterate or at least illiterate in Latin sons of client Kings among them. But that is not the mc’s position or status, particularly not for mine as he actually comes from peasant origins.
“You…listen. When I say smash…Smash.”
That’s also true hahaha. It’ll definitely be a waste - plus, getting the MC to be a junior officer would open up the combat options beyond just one-on-one duels.
And you’re right - I think it would be too rigid to stick to actual history alone, having the MC put in the right place and time of all the key events would be quite unrealistic - probably better to keep things unpredictable and exciting!
This could probably be the most lethal command ever given hahaha
In the first match…is it canon that my 2 teammates will die?
@Sailendranath_Murmu
Well… do you mean the first match being the one w/ Sabatok?
I’m confused as to why you called some of the gladiators Brits, Germans and Iberians, I thought at that time they were the Anglo-Saxons, Germanic/Norse and Visgothics. Or am I mistaken?
Enjoyed the game otherwise, I can see you put your heart and soul into this.
I believe that those terms only came into being a bit later on, (correct me if I’m wrong). Iberians represent the people in modern day spain, while the British and Germanic tribes are pretty self explanatory hahaha. I think the correct term for Britain would have been Britannia? And for Germany it would have been Germania
Thank you for playing!! Appreciate you taking the time to check the game out
Hey guys! So it’s been a week after publication, and I’ve penned down some of my reflective thoughts on the whole experience! If you guys are interested, here it is:
Otherwise, look out for the community let’s play on my socials, as well as some of my brother’s shorts I’ll be posting soon! Cheers!
Yeah, your right about the Iberians, that was actually the name of the culture there before the roman invasion, but it seems the culture of the the British isle was called Britons and they called it the Brittanic Isles, but the romans called it Britanni.
The Germanic label was used for all the tribes in central and Northern Europe, including Scandinavia, just seem weird for it to be shortened to German, but I can understand why you did that.
The debut match…5 Vs 5
MC, best friend, two slave friends from the ship ( Taurus, Gisela) and another one.
I hope none of you are descended from Rome or related in/directly to Julius Caesar. Because I fucking hate them.
