This is a cool concept to me. I’m not kidding when I saw I feel more at home with dogs than I do with most people.
Minor nerd complaints from me though that don’t mean much of anything. But having grown up around wildlife, I know some stuff about it:
Coyotes and wolves are some of the most cunning predators on the planet, so it seems odd they have no intelligence bonus or acknowledgment to reflect it.
Despite attempts of hunters to thin their numbers, the population of coyotes has been shown to still be INCREASING. Something exceedingly rare for a species when humans set out to try and waste them.
Coyotes actively disarm traps, tear the important parts of nets up before getting caught in them, shown to use females to lure out watch dogs and then have the pack rip it to shreds when it’s left it’s post. They are also clean animals that bury their scraps and excrement making them something not easy for the average person to track, Packs have been capable of living under people’s porches and in their backyards without people being even aware of it.
Not only that, they are one of the few animals willing to co-operatively hunt with different species. Some cases show them working with badgers to catch prairie dogs. This is a creature, capable of baiting rabbits into running out onto roads so that vehicles will hit them and knows to break the locks on doors.
Wolves show many of the same traits as well. Both being very methodical and cunning creatures in their schemes. Comparatively, when you consider what a hunting predator needs to know and comprehend, they are a lot more naturally wiser than humans.
But it’s part of that natural instinct and intuition they have, as part of what makes them such beautiful animals.
Poison - rat poison (or others) that you accidentally ingest while hunting, eating from the garbage, ect
Hit by Vehicles - multiple times as a stray where you could potentially be hit by a vehicle (cars, buses, trucks, and vans kill you immediately in most cases. Bikes, motorcycles, & mopeds will damage your health severely but may not kill you). Pets can also be hit by vehicles, but it is a much lower chance than strays
Dog Fight - duh, you will eventually fight with another dog (whether your a stray or a pet) and have the chance to die depending on current health, stats, other dog, ect. Police dogs, rescue dogs, therapy & service dogs will not get into fights, as not only are you too well trained but other dogs will either fear you instinctively or think you are too weak to be a target
Other Animal Fight - other animals that fight you include foxes, badgers, cats, deer, boar, rabbits (sometimes they do fight back), raccoons, and any animal that may have rabies (small chance). Chance to get infected wounds, which for strays will take a while to heal on its own
Drowning - there is a large pond (almost a lake) in the middle of town, as well as river that cuts through the city
Electrocution - this happens mostly to puppies in their chewing phase (so year 1), but can happen to any dog. Watch your choices!
Choking/Obstruction - sometimes you may come across something you want to try to eat/chew on & it could get stuck in your throat. Mostly will happen to strays
Suffocation - again, mostly happens to strays. Eating out of a garbage can or dumpster may be easy but sometimes you will come across a plastic bag that will get stuck on your face. Will probably make this a low chance, especially if your with other dogs. Can also happen to pets but even lower chance
Humans - this will be very complicated, as sometimes its an accident (being hit by a car), but sometimes you will come across humans that are just mean. & sometimes you may accidenly be killed by humans trying to catch you to take you to the pound
Euthanasia - pets only, if your old &/or extremely sick your humans may opt to put you down so you don’t have to suffer
Would you add an option to be a stray boston terrier, Like Winston from Feast and Iggy from Stardust Crusaders, not saying be like said characters but be a stray boston terrier.
Take your time don’t feel rushed I know feeling that way sometimes makes me work to fast and I wind up just throwing out whatever I can which can result in bad ideas.
Ok, so some of you may not like this, but most probably will.
A DOGS LIFE IS GETTING A MAJOR UPDATE!
I’m talking a complete overhaul of stats, creating a brand new new mutt & purebred motherscene (wolves, coyotes, wolfdogs, coydogs, & exotic s will not be changed other than stat updates).
Stats will be changed (none will be removed, but things will be moved around), some may be added, but staying mostly the same
A new achievement to link with my newest WIP, A Cat’s Life! (this has not been released on the forums because I want to get the mother scenes done before I announce just about anything about it)
A new random mutt option! Also, a longer mother scene for mutts/non-wilds.
The story is not changing, but the startup will be changing. I imagine it will be about…2 weeks or so before I am ready to release it, depending on what I can get done.
This may take me longer than anticipated (sick toddler & tons of new spelling issues that were not there before). Release date for A Dog’s Life (Revised) is still pending)
But here’s the new stuff:
Eye color
Pelt Color
Completed list of familes, pets, strays, & everyone else
Leash, muzzle, & house training stats
Purebreds, mutts, wolves/coyotes/hybrids, and exotic canines all have seperate mother scenes (this is why it’s taking so long, their mother scenes are all changing eve a little bit, while purebreds & mutts are getting a complete do-over)
Ability to be sick, blind, or deaf
A new Stat Overview & List of Terms page!
Achievements will be removed temporarily but will be added at a later date, but at least one achievement in each pup scene is planned!
