Well, he doesn’t have Special Forces yet
But I prefer the extra skill points. I think it’s better to give people a chance to create their own backgrounds with the extra skills instead of giving them a superior template.

I’m going to comment one more time:
re Add-on Packs: A simple purchase to pimp package I think would turn more people off then on. A package that adds something like the Hero’s Rise “guidance” i believe would do better for this series. It would help people who want to maximize stats without being blatantly pay-to-play better.
With all of that said, I would personally like to play @JimD’s version of the game as originally intended. The story, the morality being questioned, the game portion of rpg in it all will be at its strongest when played as @JimD intended.
I really don’t mind people who min-max (and they are here too) as long as their preferred method of playing is not officially sanctioned and/or showed preferential treatment with add-ons and dlc.
I really need to get me update on my WiP done because I feel there has been a lot of feedback going the wrong direction lately but because I am not on the current build I can’t write up a rant of feedback yet.
I really wish I did not try to motivate myself with @JimD 's work as a reward. That experiment failed on my part
Try resetting your cookies and make sure your app is allowing reloading.
I will pay for anything @JimD launchs because I want personally support him, like the time one that’s not a game I loved even if it was really well written. However I don’t like have extra points I want have a challenge , fail checks and try to balance stats and handicaps. I don’t wqnt to be op, there is no fun or challenge for me. So I really think have a cheat for win add on it’s not the way to go maybe a Extra bundle add on with the skill points a unique vehicle and a unique perk for background could be better. The skills i don’t want to used but I could love have like a poker face perk for my Con art Mara
I totally don’t blame you for wanting to privatize the testing at all. On the one hand, you have the opportunity for more feedback, but on the other, if we’re being money-minded, you lose potential buyers (why would I buy it when I already played it for free on the forum?) and you get the people who just want you to add in customization options…
I’ll be a little bit sad to not read any more of it (I don’t think I’ll be applying for private beta’ing–I’ve got far too much on my plate as it is. Also, I love this series too much to spoil the whole thing ), but on the whole I totally respect that decision.
RE: in-app purchases -
personally, I think it could work either way. However, I have noticed an error with in-app purchases for the CoG series where they don’t stay. It works for some (EG the warning system in Hero Project) but not others (none of the Legend Guides stay if you reinstall later or install on a different device, whether you unlocked them or paid for them), so I could see a lot of complaints.
“I paid a dollar for ____ extra points in this game, assured that it was a one-time purchase, yet I’m being prompted to buy it again! What the heckies?!”
Personally, despite my bugs with the legend guides, I agree with a previous poster that it would be best to do something like a “this is how you get x, y, z endings” rather than paying for extra points.
Having an OP character makes the game boring. Having a walkthrough just gets you through tough choices you couldn’t figure out on your own.
And tbh, can I just say that you have the most customizeable character I’ve ever seen in this game?? Why do people want more? so greedy
@StarshinaSokolov @poison_mara @Zolataya
I think we’re kind of missing the point here. The idea isn’t to add IAPs for the sake of IAPs, the idea is to add an easy way to ‘cheat’ the game while not creating more work for @JimD, which is why direct purchase of skill points is probably the best concept.
That’s your idea, I don’t want cheat at all!!! I want give money to Jim That’s the point! Add an object or a guide is not more work than destroy all game mechanisms cheating. Cheating would destroy my entire enjoyment of game, so i wouldn’t want use it.
Well for you, who wants a hardcore mode, but other players may find the dificulty/the system too tirering/frustrating as it is and still want to enjoy the story, for them this would be a good way to get through the game, even when it costs additional money.
It’s not even “cheating”, it’s just an easy mode when we are honest.
And nobody would force you to buy it anyway.
I know but sylf accused me of lost the point of the iaps. And the point is making money of it. So give options for that is not bad or off topic. I want give money to jim so I would end buying the damn cheat stuff and never use it. However, many people don’t like buying cheats and that people won’t buy the iap. So give more options than just cheat could add more potential customers who is the point.
@Sylfaen My idea is to let people be overpowered if they want, since I tend to enjoy playing games a 2nd or 3rd time with characters who start powerful. I don’t have time to play Skyrim from the beginning with a new specialty so I play again with all specialties.
@SoulsOfTheDamned 50 may be too little. I need to balance it. Here’s a graphic I whipped up. As you can see, extra points have a major impact, and 75 allowed me to not only max several skills but add in several others at levels 2 and 3.
@StarshinaSokolov Right now, the game is based on average players succeeding with 2-3 high level skills, 4-5 mid, and the rest low. When I do skill checks, I base it on difficulty for an average player to have a high, mid, or failed attempt. So, I don’t feel adding skill points is required but will allow more variety or give some more options per playthrough.
@poison_mara you represent the other side of the coin. Some players hate the idea of micro-transactions, especially in multiplayer games.
@Bruno_Frank_Hill I didn’t think CoZ added much with the Delta Force add-on, so if I did one like it, I’d add a unique background like poison_mara suggests. Like a vampire or cyborg. Something that is a true shift in the game.
@Zolataya I always appreciate your feedback and wish you good luck on your WIP development

I agree wholeheartedly.
That is a big concern of mine.
I will also admit, a skill point IAP option is the least amount of my work for the most gain. I have heard IAP increases revenue significantly with low negative impact (i.e. reviews, feedback).
True but I think people value different things. Some people prefer to be challenged, some just want story, some enjoy being a powerful version of an alter ego.
I don’t dislike microtransactions, I dislike any kind of pay for win. I do like extra misions or skins even weapons always there are no Op. I certainly love hardcore mods not easy mods in rpgs .
@poison_mara Maybe I should remove some backgrounds and add them as IAP
That’s a cool idea for money! Sadly some fan base could get pissed… Do a Ea preorder stuff dlc including half of backgrounds lol $$
I guess they just meant that bonus points would be easier to build in as a hard mode would be? I don’t know enough about coding to estimate how accurate that is…
Anyway you sounded a little bit as if you would be against an buyable easy mode or honestly more against people wanting a game to be more easy for them to be enjoyable. But you clarified your point so that was only an misunderstanding.
Should a hard mode be similar to build in as an easy mode it really would be profitable to offer both as iap, but some costumers react a little bit iffy when they feel that a game offers too many iap, so I would be careful.
I agree, and at this point, it’s unfair. But I have thought about IAP perks, like play as a cyborg or vampire. I would add unique background options and starting stories. Of course that takes away development time from the main game.
Or I could charge $0 for the game with 5 starting professions and add the others for IAP.
I totally agree.
I’m assuming if you took this route, the custom profession(s) would be locked until the IAP is purchased? Adding more professions a la CoZ sounds a little… off when there’s already a custom option, you know? …Unless it was a masseuse. I’d pay for a masseuse just so I could have my MC shrug at someone pulling a muscle 'cause they wouldn’t let him give them a massage.
“OW, MY LEG!”
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not gonna lie, I kinda giggled. Do cyborgs and vampires really exist in the ZE-verse? I wouldn’t say no to playing as a vampire, but I can only imagine the… complications it would present. You can’t play as a vampire in the zombie apocalypse without somebody (and by somebody, I mean almost everybody) trying to pin the blame on the poor undead fella. The potential for special romance scenes did not slip by me either…
Anyways, I, myself, would rather pay for that special background than extra skill points.
I doubt CoG would like or agree to a free app with all IAP, so that’s likely a dead issue (no pun intended).
I would enjoy writing the vampire or cyborg characters and all the craziness they would offer. Vampires would need to feed off survivors and be less effective during the day. I’d give them very high attributes and optional powers, like charm/hypnosis, regeneration, turning to mist. Yes, I have thought about this.
Well the game at zero, I don’t think it would work well with ratings. Most of people rating is Stupid. All these reviews in ZE show it." IT’S ONLY A BUNCH OF LETTERS IT’S A SCAM I THOUGHT IT WAS A ZOMBIE GAME" That review is legendary. And all the whiny I thought this was free and after second chapter ask for money. … if you add a good images d
For the Iap Like a CHARACTERS PACK style Plants and zombies maybe could work. I certainly pay for being a cyborg or vampire and for several background
Update on the RP:
Our safe haven has crumbled. Ivan took up leadership after executing the current leaders for tyranny. He turned the school haven into a military outpost which frightened people. Mallory was the one with the biggest problem, she felt betrayed that Ivan agreed with her that a self appointed leader was made with nobody having a say in it but did exactly that after killing the previous leader, demanding it should be voted so it’s everybody’s choice and accusing that Ivan thinks he’s superior than anybody else and a huge debate about the issue was made. In the end, many survivors fled the haven in fear that they would be locked into a golden cage. Mallory left too, saying that Ivan would become nothing but a tyrant like the rest. The ones leaving were very close to Ivan, and it was emotionally painful for the survivors leaving and Ivan watching them go.
