If you did that you would probably get people using only those professions so they can play for free.
Yes, and I may be fine with that. Partly I am worried about charging a flat price to buy the game and also pay for future parts. For example, I publish the game for $3 this year for chapters 1-4, next year part 2 for $2, etc.
ZE was free of course, and selling parts 3-5 was fair in my mind.
I will post on Social Media about the RP thread if you are still continuing. I held back since I havenāt had time to get involved.
Still going strong! (20+)
My biggest concern for you, with IAP, is that people get somewhat annoyed when they pay a base price for a game, then get the pay to win options (such as a guide or extra points). Itās not as big of a deal, if itās for a sequel (like the separate parts), I think, but it does grate a bit to pay that extra bit, when you thought you were paying for a full game.
So if you DO choose the route of IAP, I suggest going with the cyborg or vampire ideas (personally, I lean more towards cyborg, because ZE has always had a feel of being in our world but an alternate timeline. It has always been pretty believable, with the viruses and cures and such. Adding in a vampire makes it a tad too supernatural, in my opinion), because it doesnāt feel like pay to win. Youāre adding in a few extra scenes or lines of dialogue for a different flavor experience.
Iām just going from my own mentality, being a starving writer, lol. I canāt afford to drop $1 for extra points, but I could afford to drop $1 for a few extra scenes and that additional flavor. If you get what I mean? I know Iām wording this oddly.
Thank you. I promise I will be available āsoonā ⦠my deadline to push my update is prior to your private test, so if nothing else, if needed Iād be happy to help there.
This is one of my favorite series. But you know this.
Hey guys
-
I noticed a bug where I could keep doing activities and wouldnāt be made sleep, like i could do everything till the only option was to eat or sleep not sure how I triggered this but thought I would mention it anyway.
-
During the story I could for example - kill the zombie outside my house, shoot at soldiers outside my house, kill zombie chasing man, loot and kill everything in all the houses and a couple of things i probably left out all with the same gun which you may have only one magazine for and not have any bullets uses. i think you should have bullets measured by the actual amount you have not in clips or at least make the clips be able to be used up.

The bank robber play through is a bit op and maybe would be good iap if you added a bit more like the option to rob people with your crew after the outbreak or something with extra content like that and I think it would fit well into the game unlike a cyborg or vampire which I think do not suit the game. The amount of money you get away with after the heist 25k is too much, you can buy way too much in the connivence store with that and you would no longer need to worry about anything other than defence, maybe have the other member have to take the bag or have a carrying limit for cars also.
I really like the game and enjoyed the beta and cant wait for the next update.
Iām probably in the minority here, but I really struggle with any CoG game that is too āgameyā - one that requires a walkthrough or a lot of strategy to get through. I lean heavily toward the āstoryā side on the sliding scale of Gameplay VS Story, and to be perfectly honest I am not a very skilled gamer in general. As Iām mostly interested in the story elements, spending too much time struggling to get through the gameplay is frustrating and unpleasant to me. I actually held off on playing ZE until there was a walkthrough, because I was so anxious about the survival elements I couldnāt relax and enjoy the game.
I read through several updates of this WIP, but I hesitate to provide feedback because Iām not sure Iām the target audience for this game, making my opinions irrelevant. Can someone who has troubles with the whole zombie genre really provide useful feedback for zombie game?
Anyway, for me an IAP that gives me an advantage in any way is a huge boost, not just adding to my enjoyment but possibly making the game viable for me at all. This is absolutely an extreme view, but it exists nonetheless. I think offering options to a casual player doesnāt derive from the game for the hardcore players, but the unbridled hate toward the concept of āeasy mode Dark Soulsā suggests my opinion is not shared widely, alas.
Actually, Iām the same way. Played all of the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games on easy mode, because aināt nobody got time for a 7 hour dragon battle/reaper battle, tyvm. I play Bioware games for the story, not for the fighting (though I do get bored if there are no fightsā¦Iām so picky).
That being said, I had almost no trouble surviving to the end in Zombie Exodusāand, again, Iām in the same boat as you, with the ānot a very good gamerā vibes.
(actually, I am pretty good at gaming, but unless Iām in a raid in an MMO, I seriously donāt feel like spending over ten minutes on a single fight, ugh).
So I think this could be a solid fit for you. I havenāt come across anything too difficult, yet, personally.
In fact, I secretly wonder about the necessity of some skills, like building up the defenses in your house? Iāve gone with and without them, and have yet to have any problemsā¦
Why not just put both in the start menu when you start the closed beta, and ask them for feedback? Seems simple enough.
@poison_mara
Apologies if I offended you, I was just trying to say that in the case of an āeasy modeā IAP, not IAPs in general, that skill point boosts would offer the most bang for the least effort on @JimDās part. Iām not adverse to IAPs that are bonus paths, but that wasnāt the focus of the discussion at the time and I wanted to try to keep us on track instead of going off to discuss other things that could be IAPs.
The only reason I liked the idea of extra skill points is for the sake of realism. The same way I donāt distribute all the points when making a teen, I donāt feel that 50 points is enough for a soldier. I understand that, for the sake of balance, itās a good idea to give everybody the same amount of points, but from a realistic point of view, having a Delta Operator with 10 years of experience have the same amount of skill points as teen who didnāt even graduate school yet is very, very far fetched.
When I play, I aim for realism. I donāt care if itāll make the game too hard (teen) or easy (soldier), I care if it reflects what would really happen in that situation. Thus, I donāt see the extra skill points as cheating.
What if you offer the IAP after the first play through. Just an idea to try to make both sides happy.
What about making the IAP a New Game+ mode where you import your ending character but only keeping our currently developed skills? The the game proceeds as if it was the first time from there.
A question about the shopping:
Does the item you buy/steal actually make a difference? I mean, if I buy the chicken is it going to have the same impact as the fruit or steak? I get that in the real world they would have different prices but if each item just adds one (or two) counts to the āfoodā whats to stop people buying the most cost effective item? Iām just asking since when cooking we donāt decide what to choose so the food item itself shouldnāt really matter. That, and who is going to have time to eat 50 steaks before they go off?
Also, what is the go with the herbs? Are they just flavouring? Am I going to plant them? Is it a waste to purchase?
I chose the gardening hobby and also had high cooking. If I make food am I able to take the seeds and replant them? Is that how it works anyway? I have no gardening experience IRL.
Game error: When exploring the house where you meet Sifer, the game said I could carry three items and the generator counted as two. I picked a seperate item first (leaving two slots left) but I was unable to pick the generator to fill the last two slots.
IAPS: I think you should just go with whatever makes you the most money. If you are getting lots of requests for extra points go for it. The fanbase here at CoG isnāt the wider market and I bet plenty of people, on and off the forum, vocal/non-vocal will buy it. At the end of the day you canāt please everyone and you have a family to provide for. Do whats best for you.
IAP makes it harder for piracy. Thatās a bonus.
You can make this point into TL;DR. Some people in life are just bloody brilliant in everything they do, from academics to sports, they are the best. I bet most people here has met or known on of these people who have little troubles in whatever is presented to them.
Uhā¦Nope. Some people are just better than others in some ways. Some in more ways than others.
Lol round about way of saying dittoā¦Kinda of like going for the Q course in the Army, itās brain and brawn (mostly brawn for the qualifier but you need both to succeed)

Dang, yāall are always on the games I really likeš
Iām both everywhere and nowhere at once. You never know Iām there unless Iām pointing out bugs or fawning over dudes. Usually itās the latter⦠I have no shame. /stares longingly at Lopez/
