No worries, I’m still happy to hear anything people would be interested seeing in a story. What would you like to see in a napoleonic story, by the way, I have talked extensively with someone else in private messages about the shape of a story in that genre. I get you, I have no intention of doing a story where the emotions or feelings of the characters are tacked on either, if a character is supposed to fear something there needs to be the adequate reasoning behind their fear. I am very interested in psychology so I totally get not enjoying when a scene in a story doesn’t feel right because the emotions don’t feel real, depending on the character I totally agree that some should react in different ways when seeing how the world they thought they knew turns out to be much more serious or harsh, like losing innocence you know. Mhm I have been playing around with the idea a lot myself to figure what feels best to me, so I’m still open to other peoples thoughts cuz it might open a new path I hadn’t thought of.
Yeah, I understand that thought process too, I was trying to think up more reasoning behind the hacker’s goals as well, I was thinking of having the story take place in the future a bit as well for some of the storylines I came up with. Haha yeah I know, I’m just trying not to limit myself and come up with as many storylines as I possibly can for these stories, whatever I end up doing with these stories I’m thankful to you and everyone else that’s challenging my creativity
Superhero Story, go go go! I’m eager to see how you approach the genre :^D
This post is a continuation of my poll to see what game type, or game idea of mine, people would be most interested in playing, the winner of that poll was a Slice of Life game, to be fair to those who voted specifically for a game idea I will be using new ideas or ideas I did not post there. Even though I am posting ideas I am still looking to see what people are most interested in reading, so if none of my ideas seem interesting then please let me know what would be interesting to you.
I also would like to see what slice of life is to them, to me I kinda want all my stories to have slice of elements in them, these stories would, of course, focus more on that but I feel most stories need more moments like these, chill moments with character growth and interactions between them on a daily basis.
1st story idea
Most slice of life stories show people in what we perceive as a normal life, but there are those who live much harder lives and don’t have first world problems(not saying anyone’s problems aren’t serious, I personally think all problems and pain are equal), this story would take place in a third world country, still unsure which, or if it would be unnamed, but I thought it would be very interesting in terms of choices specifically.
2nd Story Idea
Did you ever read the animorph books, I never really did but I knew of them, this story would be a more everyday slice of life story except with elements similar to other stories with monsters in everyday schools, mine would be humans that embody the spirits of animals, still not exact on some details but as I said, this is for interest check, I can devote my time fully to this if people desire a story like this.
3rd Story Idea
This story has you take on the role of a special forces group member thats job is to find out what happened to or locate missing persons. I was picturing this story with the task force having special powers, the powers would be more mental to aid in finding these people, but I could do this story without them.
4th Story Idea
This story idea is new but it has you play as children, over time they grow up, but they are being targetted by a serial killer, that’s all I’m willing to say about that one haha
5th Story Idea
This story takes place in a dystopian future, I have three stories planned for this world, and you take the role of a watcher, basically, your job is to stalk people. The goverment has surviellance of all people at all time but it is not public knowledge, you are someone with this knowledge and your targets are people the government feels are a risk to themselves, you must watch them and prevent them from doing anything that could lead to their death, doing so would compromising your position, and your role from then on is live with that person, watch over them, and help them try to live a happier life.
6th Story Idea
This story takes place in a world with nothing but robots, no living plants or animals, but they are living their lives somewhat like humans would with a bit of a dystopian government as well. In this story, you play as someone who wants to stay unplugged, to let their battery run dry and not plug in for their daily recharge, but finds something they want to stay charged for.
7th Story Idea
Okay, this is just like a random thought but it seemed funny, this takes place in a fantasy world, with orcs, trolls, and elves, the whole shebang, but its slice of life and school life haha.
8th Story Idea
I’ve seen some stories where someone gains superpowers in a normal school and they have to hide it and such but I’ve never seen one that delves into that more, I’m sure it would be nearly impossible to control if you randomly got powers, so this story would be about that, growing up in school and your community being different at a whole new level, I was thinking that this would fit well for a small town or something but I could always change things.
9th Story idea
This story takes place in like any world in which any superhero would live, except it is without a hero, cops against either powerful underworld leaders or powered supervillains and you are on the losing side.
I will do a poll later if I get enough discussion going but I really want to talk about this genre and ideas or thoughts people have about all this, this is in the end just me trying to finish a story and write something many people are interested in reading. To everyone who read the initial post and voted on the poll thank you very much and I am very sorry for the 3 week wait, I only planned to wait a week before closing the poll, some stuff came up that needed my attention for awhile but I am good to go till I complete a story now.
I love this one. It would probably be the most difficult to execute out of all those in my opinion, and it would be a very, very unique concept.
9th Story idea
This story takes place in like any world in which any superhero would live, except it is without a hero, cops against either powerful underworld leaders or powered supervillains and you are on the losing side.
This one, as well, is very interesting. I’m a sucker for these types of games and would love a good underdog story.
Good luck with whichever you choose to go with!
I’m especially interested in the 2nd, 5th, and 6th story ideas!
This sounds like there’ll be a lot of complications if the MC’s cover is blown, which I think could be fun haha. Imagining all the times the MC has to give an excuse for being at the same location as the person they’re watching over, or fighting someone one room over while trying to have a conversation with that person sounds great
This idea sorta sounds like it’d have a philosophical feel to it like Creatures Such As We, and that’d be something I’m interested in as well~ Plus a world without plants or animals sounds terrible and I’d like to see how the world came to that and what people think of it!
Really like this idea plus it reminds of the the TV show Person of Interest.
Haha, i will endeavour to be
I agree, i think that one would definitely be the hardest to pull off, but even if I might not get it right exactly i do want it to feel very different and have different choices and scenarios you probably wouldnt find in another slice of life. When i came up with it i kinda went crazy coming up with ideas haha, its such an unnexplored concept.
Im glad you found those two interesting, i definitely enjoy a good underdog story too but i actually dont know too many that could be considered it as major plot point, if you know of any feel free to let me know i always appreciate a good read.
Haha I was thinking of some funny scenerios like that too based on player choices, im not a fan of a story making the character devoted to certain stats and making them always have to choose the options that match otherwise they fail, so i will try to give some freedom at times while giving other choices you really should use your best stats for.
Oh i really enjoyed that when it came out, I’ll have to check it out again to make sure i dont copy things in any way and also just to enjoy it haha, and most of my story ideas are not a one part thing, it could possibly one story but i did come up with backstory for the world and this story specifically but the backstory you mentioned might not appear until later stories, still planning things. If you have any questions or other comments feel free to ask them whenever, im glad i caught your interest.
I havent heard of it but will definitely check it out, and im glad it caught your interest, if this story is picked it will tackle very sensitive scenes at time so if it ever feels worded wrong or the flow is off i would greatly appreciate any further input you or anyone else has
I’ve learned to accept it but I do like more freedom in stories (so thanks!!) and I think that will work out well with other readers too!
Ooh, that’s great! I enjoy series just as much as singular stories, so I’ll look forward to later books if that plan works better for you in the end!
I will! Hope more people see your post soon so you can get feedback and another poll running! Good luck!!!
Yeah sadly it is common in most stories, makes me think of the old choose your own adventure games, they definitely weren’t as complex but the joys of them were that you could choose whatever choice you want and experience the whole thing without restriction, it can be a hassle to make a whole new character and mess up on one stat which prevents you from doing what you wanted to try, if you haven’t seen the first post for this i believe the second paragraph of the first medieval fantasy story of mine had a system im thinking of putting in place, any feedback on that would be greatly appreciated as well
Thats good, i enjoy them too but worry some people might be turned off by the idea of a series because so many get cut short when it just gets going you know.
Thank you for the support, it means a lot
This is from the wiki!
“Former CIA agent Reese (Jim Caviezel) – now presumed dead – and billionaire software genius Finch (Michael Emerson) join forces as a vigilante crime-fighting team. Using Finch’s program, which employs pattern recognition to determine individuals who will soon be involved in violent crimes, they combine Reese’s covert-operations training and Finch’s money and cyberskills to stop crimes before they happen. Former Army Intelligence Support Activity operative Sameen Shaw joins the pair in their quest.”
They also essentially stalk the person to protect or stop them, the reason is they don’t know if the person they are watching is the victim or the perpetrator.
Oh wow, that does sound really interesting, i cant believe I’ve never heard anyone mention it before. But doesnt that say something about finch’s skill if he cant figure it out exactly XD maybe it makes more sense that way though, since in most stories they get that info so easily.
Let’s keep the idea checking in one thread, OK?
Interesting… I don’t think I’ve played an interactive novel with that setup, so I can’t say how well I think it’d work out once you implement it. Doesn’t hurt to try it out and see it in action first though!
Yeah sorry about that, i sent you a message but i dont forum much so i wasnt sure how i was supposed to do it, thank you for the help.
Thanks for checking it out, yeah I hadn’t seen anything like it and thought it might be interesting to try, it will definitely take a lot of testing and balancing to get right though for sure. It will be something changed constantly during early demo updates so I might end up doing a demo version with the system and without so people can keep their progress/saves without changing everything, and for those interested in helping out.
My choice would be any of the medieval games.
