I read somewhere on the authors blog that Zeus seems to be the only MC Fable that can reliably beat Pele (Constantly bombarding them with lightning from like a mile away).
Someone like Luci is too squishy and can’t reliably hurt Pele.

Well this makes it a full circle somewhat. If Zeus can really beat Pele by just bombarding them with lightning strikes, then that would make them the strongest fable MC but then if they go against Wukong, Wukong might just change their skin into either a lightning rod or rubber to become immune to lightning but then what if they go up against Lucifer then? This feels like it’ll turn into a circle in the end with one fable having an edge over the other one in one way or another. If we have to list them in terms of Power, than it’s either Pele or Zeus and I still feel like Pele is more powerful than Zeus unless Zeus can conjure a lightning strike strong enough to eclipse a nuke. Pele can probably do that easily and I think already did in Chapter 2. Not sure about Zeus though.
To me there technically is no strongest Fable since they are all unique in their own regard plus someone can always beat someone its very similar to the 5 elemental chart
Even the author himself has said all the fables are on the same power level on his tumblr when people ask for comparisons he always ranks them based on how skilled they are or how destructive their ability is.
I’d recommending going through the authors tumblr if you haven’t already.
It’s got some neat facts like ranking the fables by destructive power or how each of the fables would match up against one another.
For example, the author mentioned that Pele could very well lose to water boys Grandpa in a fight due to how terrible of a match up it is.
Ehh. Idk about that last part in my opinion. I mean, yes I can see Pele having a bad time with that old man if they fought since he was known for flooding a whole city or country or whatever in water. But seeing as Pele can not only do something like this
without the drawbacks AND make a miniature sun likely with a force way more powerful than a nuke (and can probably spam that a few more times) I can’t see water affecting them much if they starts exhibiting that level of heat since even if a flood of that level showed up, the tsunami itself might be vaporized the second Pele blows up or shoots another sun.
The only way I can see water affecting them is if it was a surprised attack or if the water was combined with powerful ice element as a combo attack maybe. Or if it was raining.
I wonder how Timur survived the confrontation with Pele. Because his fighting style appears to be hand-to-hand combat, and to get close he must have spent a lot of vital energy healing himself, as demonstrated by surviving Siddhartha’s explosion.
I like pele too but i feel like your over exaggerating their power a bit.
Here we have pele stating that water harms them.
And here we have pele using the sun attack.
The text shows that it takes everything out of them just to create one sun so it’s definitely not spammable.
Yeah people are overestimating Pele a bit. Hell, even Wukong can clap Pele if Wukong changes their body’s composition to tungsten again. The melting point of tungsten is higher than the surface temp of the sun. Pele would then have to resort to close-quarters combat since they can’t just burn their opponent, and close-quarters combat is where Wukong excels.
Tbh it’s kind of interesting that Wukong isn’t considered #1 among the fables in terms of a physical fight since their shapeshifting can render Zeus and Pele’s abilities useless if they shapeshift into rubber and tungsten, respectively. Though I suppose a long drawn out battle would work in Zeus and Pele’s favour since Wukong can’t fight at “full strength” for long before that limiter seal starts acting up.
Luci is a fallin angel, demon, not really a vampire at all. They get their desires of blood from demons not other way around.
With Buddha’s seal on Wokung gone he/she can probably solo every fable except Janus. Janus is probably the most broken fable in terms of hacks. And I don’t know why people overestimate Pele. Janus and Wokung have many arsenals that they can fall back into. Wokung has the magical staff that can change size . And Janus can literally stop time if he/she is in a pinch
In fact, Lucifer doesn’t exactly need to drink blood, human flesh is fine too, but they never ate it because he found it repulsive. Which is kinda funny, because you can actively torture someone and they’re like, “Human flesh? No, that’s too much for me.” Like, professionals have standards.
I know i’m not even the one that called luci a vampire that was the guy i was replying to.
I mostly agree, but I feel the need to constantly be on Luci’s defense in these discussions. In Luci’s chapter 2, we got some confirmation on how adeptly they can manipulate the nervous system. They can manipulate perception to a fine tuned degree, meaning that the trauma lock, which may or may not be effective against Wukong is likely a combination of perception and emotional manipulation, they can also stop bodily functions. And while the current Luci seems to be rusty/holding back, they are capable of full nervous shutdown. Hand to hand combat, Luci would lose easily, but strength and speed arent the only tools in their arsenal and I don’t think most of the fables would be capable of handling the mental assault Luci would bring. Which goes back to what the author says. Theyre all equally powerful in different regards, just some are better matchups against others
Damn, are there any Ishtar defenders in here because I rarely see her brought up. People are overlooking how dangerous a flier who can move at mach 4 actually is, especially against the other fables who are mostly grounded and can’t move nearly as fast on the ground let alone when they’re airborne😭
Ishtar is powerful. I dont like her intro personally. Her power sets awesome though.
Think its all about Wukong wins all, but several seem to ignore many other aspects of combat. Not only the fact its chaotic to most, but few thrive more in its chaos, taking advantages and such.
Reason i said i wont do a fable vs fable. Strengths and weaknesses matter but so does actions and reactions.
If alyosha could handle then it i don’t see why the other fables couldn’t, luci’s control over bodily functions on the other hand would be harder to deal with, except for maybe pele because they’re the only fable who’s biology is completely different from the other fables.
Agreed isthar is really underrated here on the forums i think that’s mostly because her power isn’t as flashy as some of the others but there’s multiple things she can do. for example during her fight with cloudie we see just how high she can fly so what’s to stop her from just picking up wukong and chucking them into space like ultimate kars.
of course there is always the chance wukong could escape by shifting into something she can’t hold onto but the option still there assuming she gets the drop on wukong before they can shift.
And as for pele there’s nothing stopping her from creating a tornado and putting them out like a candle or at least cooling them down to such a degree that they’re severely weakened.
But if anyone wants to know just how broken speedsters can be they should check this out.
Thats why i mentioned actions and reactions in my post. Circumstances change what can or cant happen. The most tactical genius can still get beat by one that has negative tactical genius. Circumstances altering what could occur.
I have to agree. Alyosha handled it better than expected, and so did Ares. Lucy had to rely on their ability to control other’s bodies to win. So I don’t see them doing much to the other Fables, especially since they’re roughly all on the same power level. I just wonder how each fable would react to Lucy’s ability to control their body. I think Zeus and Pele would take it the best considering Zeus doesn’t need their body to use their power or fight, just their eyes. Lucy wouldn’t even get close to Pele considering his heat output.
Agreed the one who would have it the worst would probably be wukong due to the fact that a large part of their power is shapeshifting and against an enemy who can literally control your body there is nothing stopping luci from locking wukong into a single form or just shutting them down completely.
