there was also another one with ashes in the name i think which had over 10000 posts of pure chaos on the forum where the mc was a prince pushed into an arranged marriage or something with a hostile princess sharing the authors name (sophia), it was fun while it lasted

I’m surprised to hear of Kingdoms (:Embers in Ashes. The subtitle went through many changes) again. I thought it was ancient history in forum-time.

coming back to this site after so long, and finding out Children of The Gods is cancelled BROKE MEE. It’s 2024, and I still love that game. I hope one day the author revisits it!

WIPs from way back, like 9 years ago, are quite interesting. You can tell from their title only, that they are promising. It’s too bad many of them are abandoned.
Is it legal to resume someone’s WIP? Many of them are just hard to pass.

I actually don’t think that so-called abandonment should make an especially big difference here. If your “inspiration” is close enough to spur arguments about plagiarism, where you’ve changed so little that it’s recognizably an identical story, then that’s wrong even if the author hasn’t shown up on the forum for a decade. If you’re inspired to write something “different enough” to avoid plagiarism accusations, on the other hand, then it doesn’t really matter if there’s another similar story a…
