These Reluctant Years was really interesting and I miss the updates. I liked playing as two seperate characters who could come together as you played. Making one a cinnamon roll and the other bitter and jaded (and only liking the other MC) was such a fun dynamic to explore. But it must have been a hell to code.
The Citadel was a breath of fresh air. I really got to live my Grey’s Anatomy realness, and balancing what felt like an important career and a life beyond it was actually nerve-wrecking at times. Loved the age-gap relationships too with your bosses, there’s not enough of those for my drama pining soul.
from ashes we rise had some awesome angst about ylou almost dying, being abandoned and then replaced. fallen hero is similar but doesnt quite scratch that itch
there was also another one with ashes in the name i think which had over 10000 posts of pure chaos on the forum where the mc was a prince pushed into an arranged marriage or something with a hostile princess sharing the authors name (sophia), it was fun while it lasted
I remember seeing a really promising western with eldritch horror elements around here. I remember thinking it was exactly my cup of tea, but I didn’t read it at the time because I wanted to wait until it gets a bit longer. I haven’t seen it around in what feels like a long time. I tried doing a quick search, but none of the released games seemed to be that one and I couldn’t even find the forum thread.
It’s a real shame because western IFs are quite rare, let alone paranormal westerns. I do hope it’s still around on itch or something.
I started writing a paranormal western once, but I killed it pretty quickly because the original idea included a native tribe and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to write it correctly… I’m tempted to resurrect it, though.
The only thing that really comes to my mind with that genre possibly could be Ballad of Devil’s Creek. They didn’t get to eldritch horror part yet but it’s been implied at some scenes
This has probably already been mentioned, but “Seven Days In Purgatory.” I usually tend to not read WIPs as I prefer completed works, but I decided to try this out just for fun as I was bored. I got WAY more invested than I had expected I would, and since then it has been on my mind all the time. Such a good one.
