Werewolves: Haven Rising — Rise up, werewolves! Fight for your freedom!

We’re proud to announce that Werewolves: Haven Rising, the latest in our popular “Choice of Games” line of multiple-choice interactive-fiction games, is now available for Steam, Android, and on iOS in the Choice of Games Omnibus app. It’s 33% off until August 2nd!

Rise up, werewolves! Throw off the shackles of a tyrannical military police state. Fight for your pack! Fight for your honor! Fight for your freedom!

“Werewolves: Haven Rising” is a 285,000-word interactive novel by Jeffrey Dean, where your choices control the story. It’s entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

You are one of fifteen pups born in Haven, a government internment camp where werewolves are forced to live and work. Raised in this refuge since birth, you’ve never known the freedom of the wilds. You soon discover the elders have selected you for a mission that will put you directly into the cross-hairs of both the military and werewolf radicals alike!

You’re a new breed of lupine explorer, your hunting grounds an urban jungle of steel and concrete. When your expedition to a forbidden military base goes wrong, a startling discovery sparks an escalation of violence and tragedy that will lead your pack to the hungry maw of war.

• Play as male, female, or nonbinary; gay, straight, or bisexual.
• Rise to power in opposition to a war monger or join him in the fight for werewolf supremacy!
• Train in the path of the warrior, the shadow, or the sage.
• Fight your enemies with claw and fang, or take a non-lethal approach.
• Uncover the true motivations of a powerful anti-werewolf zealot.
• Explore several potential romances, finding love in an increasingly chaotic world.

Once hunted and imprisoned, the werewolves rise again!

We hope you enjoy playing Werewolves: Haven Rising. We encourage you to tell your friends about it, and recommend the game on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and other sites. I just got the email for this, and when I click the link it opens the play store and says item not found. It does the same thing for the link on the front page of this website. Did this game get pulled from the store or something?

I’m sorry, but can you try the link once more on the same device? (I know Carlos linked it correctly, but I’m trying to make sure it’s fixed for everyone.)

Ok, the link provided in the reply worked, but I tried both the link on the front page of choiceofgames.com and the email again and both of them gave the same error.

Device is galaxy s9+, if that matters

Hey, is this the first of a series of books? Or just one book?

Because I usually wait for all books to come out when it’s a series.

I could have sworn this was the second installment (the colon threw me off), but apparently that’s not the case.

Wow, this was a great edition to already many solid releases this year. I enjoyed it very much and the writing was very good. It doesn’t have a save at the end of the game but it ended on a cliffhanger. Will there be a part 2? I can’t rate each book individually on IOS anymore, which is a shame for many authors, but I do try to update my reviews based on each release, and this got a 5 star review.

I played through this game twice with different approaches in one go, and I must say it definitely lived up to my expectations and then some. It’s extremely well-written, the story is very well-paced, the characters are all three-dimensional and the unexpected twists were absolutely amazing, they really threw me off in my first playthrough. Well done to the author, this story is certainly going in my long list of favorites.

Also, it was kind of surprising the way it ended. The cliffhanger almost seemed to assure a sequel but there was no save option. I do not necessarily have a problem with it, just hoped that there would be a more satisfactory ending.

Can I get a confirmation on who all of the potential RO’s are? Because I only really liked Tiva. And she doesn’t appear to be an option for reasons.

Saves usually aren’t implemented until the second game is about to ship.

A sequel is in the works! My understanding was that the published game would have a way of saving data to port into the sequel. I will talk to Jason and find out about adding it in the next patch. Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you so much for all the praise! This game has taken me over a year to write and seeing it go live and be enjoyed has been one of the happiest moments in my life. No exaggeration. Huge thanks to you all!

The romance options are Dena, Bly, and Jolon. I wanted Tiva as a possibility, but it added a lot of complexity to an already very complex game, especially considering some complicated and emotional interactions with Lapu which not all people will see. I AM considering making her romancable in the second game, which I know doesn’t help much now, but it’s something to look forward to!

That gives me hope considering I did so much fucking more for Tiva than that guy by the end of the game.

Which leads me to a question that I lock down below. Because of spoilers.

Spoiler Q Look at own risk?

Considering at the end of the game the one lady tried to get rid of me initally based on me not being aggressive enough I guess? And me being taken by our not so dear old dad. He mentions something about her taking Tiva instead. If you plan to make her a romance option in the 2nd game after everything has happened. And you get thrown into this route, would that still be a possibility?

Absolutely. There are four main separate ending sequences, each with a few different branches within them (and also a secret ending and an early death scene.) All endings will allow the player to meet Tiva again on a friendly basis in the next game. There is one exception, which will be very obvious if you experience it. No spoilers yet

Thank you for the information. I look forward to seeing what you do with this. Guess I’ll need to change things up and do a few more runs through the book over the week.

Retowers, the link is still down for the Android version, both on the main page and once you click through to the actual game. Checked on a Samsung A5. I’m pretty sure the link is wrong regardless of device. I hope this gets fixed soon :disappointed_relieved:

Also, the artwork on the main cog page looks very badly pixelated and jagged compared to the other artworks.

Edited: The Amazon link doesn’t work either. :frowning: And there isn’t a Steam button. I’m really starting to get concerned…

Okay, so the GPS and Amazon links should be fixed for anyone that clicks on the link now, unless you clicked on it when it was broken. I suspect the redirect is cached which is why it continues to direct people that clicked on the link previously to the wrong place. In that case, you can go to the Google Play Store directly.

I’ve also replaced the artwork (again, caching means it will take some time to show up).
