Way Walkers: University

@WayWalkerLeigh Sorry my dear, it’s been a few weeks and my memory has fogged over since. I do have one email with some grammar issues from the first 2 chapters that I wrote up. I was holding on to that one until I had time to add more, but never got around to it unfortunately. Nevertheless if you want it, I can either pm or email it to you, whichever you prefer.

It’s sad to hear you had such a bad copy editor. That’s highly unfortunate. I have faith that you’ll resolve the remaining issues however. You have plenty of both talent and motivation, so all the rest will eventually work itself out, even if they do give you some stressful moments in the interim. :wink:

@WayWalkerLeigh --Job is perfect for me! I’ll do it for free because I have that much luffs for you and the game! I’m probably more likely to lurk on the forums than I am to check my actual emails but it’ll probably get done if you send stuff my way occasionally. Honestly, I’m not even sure what a ‘copy editor’ even does. They’re just on the lookout for typos and stuff, right?

@waywalkerleigh does the surname change from what place your from?

@P_Tigras Oh that’s a shame–the comment i fell in love with was someone actually asked what the Red embodied before he went mad…then dismissed it as having always been evil after reading Jun’s story in the tales section–i soooo wanted to respond to that!

Thank you for the bode of confidence–Spirit knows i need it at times. :wink:

@Dooly I’ll consider it dear. right now i’ve a trusted friend im hoping will help when they are done moving, but if it falls through i’ll consider it. you need a sharp eye to get all the mistakes in that ever-repeating code. oy XD

In the beginning when you are first introduced to Sem, you are asked what you think of him, and i cant help but notice the player couldnt say anything negative about him besides ‘i dont trust him‘

@Thatdudeoutthere --what more would you like to think at that point? I believe there is an option to say you find him ‘rather abrasive’, which is fairly negative. Let me know and i can work it into a patch, maybe.

Abrasive is rather negative…

@Thatdudeoutthere – yes, yes it does. :slight_smile:

The game was more fun than I expected it to be, but one thing that bugged me was the written-in physical description of the player. As the player avatar, I look nothing like how any of the descriptions go, which was a bummer. :expressionless: I love these choiceof games because of the flexibility that they allow a player’s imagination to go, especially for how characters look like - in a way the graphic images spoilt that. I understand this is written to be a novel of sorts, but still…

@thnesko I really feel as if the graphics added to the story. It added that extra layer of imagery that got me immersed in the world. *blinks* And I’m not sure how the the appearance of the avatar could affect the quality *shrugs* but that’s opinion, truly. I guess with all the other decisions I could make throughout the game, with complete and utter control over my character’s personality and reactions, I didn’t even notice the fact that the appearance was set. Plus, with the choice of a homeland, there is already the standard appearance of humans that dwell there, which I think adds to the world and setting ^u^ I do suppose it’s your opinion, but I am inclined to disagree.

@thnesko I’m also inclined to disagree, as entitled as you are to your opinions, the very generic appearance based off of the country you can from was a necessary element. The graphics also gave a good idea of what the characters and places looked like, which I thought enhanced the read.

And there was a good picture of a certain pretty vampire boy which the forming fan club swoons over :wink:

@AlyssaP Sem makes everything better.

@WayWalkerLeigh – I think the comment you mention was one of mine. :slight_smile: I also questioned whether “Montage” was the best name for one of your godlings.

I’m traveling in Nepal at the moment (@Zed – Jai Nepal!) and probably won’t be able to check the forums for a couple weeks, but when I’m back in range, I’d be fascinated to hear more on what the Red’s all about…

I have to agree with @thnesko. The images are probably the only part of the game I don’t really care for. I’m always a big advocate for giving the reader some credit for imagination, though. Then again, it might just be that they look awkward on a small screen. :\

@WayWalkerLeigh Ok, now my curiosity is piqued regarding @Havenstone’s question/comment. So what did Red originally embody before he went mad? or was he always that evil?

@Havenstone You lead a very interesting life. :slight_smile:

@Havenstone – i found you! yay! *hug* Yes! i wanted so badly to chat with you about both of those comments–do, do contact me when u get back, i promise the pick of Montage was not arbitrary, and was just dazzled that you picked up on it even through the simplified CoG writing style. XD Also–jealous of Nepal. lucky! The furthest east i’ve been is eygpt…i wanna see asia…:frowning:

@P_Tigras --it shall be addressed in the sequel…i was just so shocked Havenstone picked-up on it beforehand! :slight_smile:

@CS_Closet – i’m very sorry to hear that. I really busted my butt to get them all drawn in time b/c i thought it would only enhance the immersion; but i guess not as much as i thought. maybe i’ll forgo them in the future. :confused:

@WayWalkerLeigh
Erm, I think I sounded too harsh without meaning to. :frowning:
I fully recognize that I’m part of a small minority that would rather not have visualizations accompanying descriptive text. It sounds like a lot of people did feel like it enhanced the story for them, though. By all means, don’t let my idle complaints sway you.

@CS_Closet --i’m honestly debating b/c of other reasons…they weren’t as good as i wanted them to be, and to be honest, it was a LOT of work for what little is seen. (the jun image, for example took 8 pictures, male and female just so the reader can see one changing one each time.) And i do suffer form the fear that ppl will see the picture of a person and not like it and thusly completely change how they perceive a character.

Though i will say i was quite satisfied with how the Semryu image came-out–he was one of the few that looked on paper exactly how i wished him to in my mind. :slight_smile:

@WayWalkerLeigh
Your artwork is indeed very nice. I cannot for the life of me draw anything in that style. Believe me. I’ve tried. :frowning:

Also, I completely understand your fear of perceived visualization. The same thing has been plaguing my cover art for months now. :confused:

Whatever you decide to do, I’m sure it’ll be alright. And congrats on the Sem pic! That’s no small feat.

@CS_Closet --oh dont even get me started on cover art…what i went through to get that ruddy star done…and its *still* not what i *really* wanted. :-W

I’m thinking of incorporating more scenery images or more smaller graphic pictures, a crystal here, a shiver of magic there…though i still have a half-done image of a grumpy Master Cael i’d love to work in…
