Way Walkers: University

@Drazen I can definitely see some of the criticisms you mentioned, but I have to say the blurring out of certain options makes a lot of sense in most cases. Say you’ve gotten your Red stat fairly high by being a generally mean, arrogant, or self serving person. It would make no sense for you to say anything sweet or nice, so any such options are blurred out, for the sake of the character.

Perhaps our respective paths presented different non-options; some of mine, such as the omission of the ability to express an initial distrust of Sem, seemed to be founded on arbitrary premises.

cant wait for part 2 gonna buy that one to

@Drazen The particular comment you are referring to has to do with a cultural reference–ie, if you were born to Nor’wah and the Ki’ra, who have been at war with Sem’s homeland, so the mistrust is more evident. I personally hate the blurred out options myself, so shall be avoiding them in the future whenever possible.

As to your other comments–prevailing optimism? O_o; Might i point out Master Cael and all his moodiness and the negativity spewed the second any one speaks the word ‘Red’? lol Granted in a place of ‘spiritual enlightenment’ there are more ‘happy people’–but might i suggest a reread through where you aren’t friends with Jun? You might find some more stylistic grittiness in that relationship. :wink: Also note people treat you differently when you have a high Red stat.

And yes, i can say there is a slight shift in style once reaching the citadel–this was for my sanity. i had this wild idea of changing the voice of the main character based on their stats, and once i hit the actual plot, i realized i had to ‘lighten up’ or go insane (or never finish).

As far as the academic cynicism about truth and freedom, recall this is a world were they’ve proven huge chunks of string theory as true–other dimensions and levels of conciseness (like Angel) exist, and have spoken to a large portion of the populace for thousands of years–so, yeah. Makes for some interesting takes on ‘dogma’. :smiley:

as for the grammatical edits–this is due to a long sad story regarding a very bad situation with a copy editor. there will be a patch eventually to address the many, many issues which haunt my dreams. :L

But otherwise, thank you. I am humbled by the praise of a true academic.

@P_Tigras if you haven’t been to the dueling club with sem, go. You’d love the Rheanic take of ‘do no harm’ lol.

@WayWalkerLeigh

I checked out the dueling club first. :wink:

I noticed the shift in writing style upon reaching the citadel as well, and I have to say that I considered the change a significant improvement qualitatively. The writing became more natural and a bit less convoluted.

@P_Tigras Good man–in that case, if ever my novels come out, keep an out the Balori cult–fascinating little Way Walkers. XD

I think it’s less convoluted b/c i was far less scattered in what i wanted to do–this whole thing was such a challenge for me…scaling everything back to make it simpler, not following every single path diversion i could conceive of…oy! Hopefully the squel will be more consistent, if less superfluous and pretty-worded. XD i do love my extensive prose, that i do. :wink:

Not playing this…since i played the Beta. (Alright I Might play, not sure.)

@zed oh you are one of my beta testters! Thank you for the service! I just loved all the comments that came out of it–though I wish Id seen them*before* we submitted to apple, but ah well… lol. I hope you pick it up for rereads, but if not, thank you again!

You’re welcome! :smiley:

@zed do u recall what comments you made? There were a few ppl that just blew me away with awesome insight to the world and I was very sad I could not reply to the anonymous comments :frowning:

I tried the little trial and cant wait to go home and buy it, it seem TOO MUCH FUN!!! How much are the sequels when they come out? Cheaper i hope (mostly because if i bought one i dont want to buy it more, and because i seem to always be tight on money, beside if you dont buy part1 and instead buy part 2 you wont really understand so its cheaper if you dont have the chronological order) but i guess its not my place to decide the price

@Thatdudeoutthere --I have no idea what the sequel prices will be, it shall be honestly based on how much i put into the game–but i’d assume the same price and not more. I’m working on the sequel as we speak–and there is a thread in the forums discussing what the fans would like to see in it. As far as how long, idk–the first took me 8 months to write, 1 month to copy edit/debug and then 8 months for CoG to release it. All i can say is i’ll write as fast as i can, and hope for the best. :slight_smile:

Awwweeesssoooome must say, even though i only played the tutorial, it is a beautiful game ^.^ cant wait to play it in ful

8 Months for them to RELEASE it!? Ouch.

@Thatdudeoutthere and i can’t wait to hear what you think of the rest. :slight_smile:

@CJW – there are always unforeseen issues when it comes to publication–to be honest they are no better or worse than a traditional publishing house, and dealys are always generated on both ends. This of course does not mean i didn’t have a few heart attacks in there lol

It was copy edited before it was sent to CoG? The early august beta had quite a few grammar issues that slipped through…

@WayWalkerLeigh - But still, EIGHT months!? That really puts me off future submission… That’s an extremely long amount of time. :frowning:

So from the moment you handed them the “finished” package, it was eight months until it appeared on the stores?

I can see it with a feature length novel that needs binding, combing, distributing and all that - but not an online CoG game o.o

@P_Tigras – Yes, yes it was. it’s a bit of a sore spot to be honest, also the fact that the beta testing was done after the game had been submitted to apple, so none of the corrects could be incorporated into the actual release. *head shake* I can assure you, it will NOT happen again if i have anything to do with it.

Also, were u one of my beta testers???

@CJW-- it is what it is, *shrug*

@WayWalkerLeigh Yes, I was one of your beta-testers. :slight_smile:

It’s a pity about the beta period occurring so late in the process, and after the game had been submitted to Apple. I was actually rather surprised myself that the game became available just shy of a month after the beta was announced. I can’t say that I’ve beta-tested more than a handful of CoG games here, but of the ones that I have beta-tested, while it wasn’t the first one I’d tested, it was the first to have been released.

I assume you’ve probably created an update that will get pushed out at some point in the near future to address the grammar issues.

@P_Tigras Oh thank you for he service!! Do you remember what comments you made?? some of the ones sent were so awesome, and i wanted to respond to some of them but jason wouldn’t tell me who sent what :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t even KNOW they did beta testing until after it was submitted to apple, which honestly made very little sense to me O_o;. i’m hoping next time it can be tested *before* the thing is sent out–i mean, whats the point of pointing out changes if i can’t very well change them?

I’m working on the patch, but its slow going, as it’s tedious for me, and very difficult on my dyslexia, as i simply can’t TELL sometimes if something is spelled wrong. Defiantly and definitely in particular plague me. So, i NEED a copy editor, but i can’t afford one, having paid the first copy editor my advance money–and while the beta testing finds *do* help, a lot will still get missed with me doing on my own. So, long and short, it *will* happen, i just don’t know when. XD
