I have, and I found it highly entertaining through and through.
God, what an amazing game Dragon and Djinn was. I need to play it again…
It’d be neat to see a CoG game win, even though Elden Ring seems pretty much like a lock. A bit like expecting Good Will Hunting or As Good As It Gets to have won Best Picture … they were up against Titanic.
I don’t know. My money’s on Stray, followed by Radiant Citadel.
SFWA members and cats. Seriously?
Fair point; cats and authors certainly go together. Although I still wonder if Pentiment has a shot here. Studio is beloved, game has that offbeat creativity that can make it overcome the Elden Ring juggernaut.
[quote]Yes, agreed. I understand why many people on the forum didn’t like Sins of the Sires. That is also…probably what made it a strong candidate for a Nebula.

There’s an interesting conversation to be had somewhere else about the increesingly narrow window of what is considered an acceptable “choice of games game” especially within this ultra-silo’d forum, resulting in an overall homogenisation of style and a gradual prioritisation of length as the ur-mark of quality, but i’m sure as hell not not going to die on that hill.
must be discouraging for the author to read all this. for the nebula award, if it was chosen for that, i don’t see how blaming & accusing the author herself is good when it’s all just based on an assumption? it may be true but it also may be not.

I loved Nope! I thought it had a good balance of tension and humor. I’m strongly considering checking out Jordan Peele’s other movies because of it.
I recommend it! Nope was my favourite, because I was simply having so much fun during the entire movie, it was such a delight, but his other ones are really worth a watch too in my opinion!
Oh, you haven’t seen Get Out? I definitely recommend it. It’s not necessarily the classic for the ages that some reviews make it out to be, but it’s suspenseful and often funny and has some real satiric bite. Actually, it’s worth watching twice so you can pick up on all the little things you didn’t appreciate the first time around. I seem to recall that Peele and Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) between the two of them totally dominated the field of first-time filmmaker awards for 2017, which strikes me as eminently fair.
You know a movie is good when you’ve had most of the details of a major scene spoiled for you and it scares the crap out of you anyway.
I had a little more free time tonight than I was expecting, so I checked out our streaming services and found Nope was available on Peacock. This movie is weird and laden with creepy tonal incongruities and I know I’ll be thinking about it for days. Now I’m going to go read stuff about it on the internet and try to figure out whom I can make watch it so I have someone to chat about the symbolism with.
I’m a bit confused why this thread is about unrelated movies and shows now
Discussing the other Nebula nominees.
I can’t help but feel like, if Isaac Asimov were alive today, he’d probably say the same thing every time he submitted a Nebula ballot.
Not surprised to learn yet another author whose work I adore is a SOTS fan!
Congratulations to Natalia!!! This is such wonderful news. It inspired me to read his nominated novellette too and that twist! A sea-soaked, salt crystalled fairy tale.
I’ve been planning to dive into that too one of these evenings after my husband leaves for work.
Have you read this one? Not a Nebula nominee, but I read it last year and it’s good.
I think I read it when it first came out. I’d forgotten. The refersher is a sweet one.
Let’s not start piling on. I know people feel strongly about this game and I’d appreciate it if people just not respond or linger in threads of works they don’t care for.
It’s just an exercise in frustration that can only end badly.
