"Vampire: The Masquerade — Sins of the Sires"—In this elegy of blood, Athens is burning!

Personally I didn’t see it as a money grab thing. I just think that the beginning is too slow for it to constitute a demonstration of much of anything. I don’t know if that’s a pacing issue, game length issue, demo cutoff issue, or writing issue. I just know there’s something a bit off.

Choosing the play someone who enjoyed getting tattoos is very different from choosing to play someone who loves them so much they will put their friends and themselves at risk to keep renewing them. I thought @KZV explained it pretty well; they would like to choose between “X → Y” or “X → Z” and you’re telling them “well X is a choice”.

That’s a really big generalization. Not everyone who loves tattoos is the same kind of person, some would absolutely abandon the hobby after being told “let go of your human contacts and don’t risk breaking the Maquerade”. Some wouldn’t. You can only play the latter type here.

What is the highest position we can attain in the Camilla??
I somehow got Seneschal

My problem is really just that the language in the choice doesn’t indicate just how much this character loves tattoos. Here’s the exact language in the choice:

You even had hobbies. They seemed important. Everything did.

  • I liked to get tattoos.

The prompt here is in the past tense. Your hobby seemed important. To me, the language has a clear implication here that the embrace has changed you and that your hobby is no longer that important to you. And the option for tattoos is that you liked to get tattoos. Past tense again.

Nothing about this choice implies that you’re still into getting tattoos at all, much less that you’re so into them that you’re willing to expose your friend to the small-but-tangible risk of being ‘cleaned up’ as a Masquerade violation. That’s what makes it jarring and off-putting when it turns out that no, you’re still into tattoos and you don’t care about the risk. The behavior after the choice isn’t consistent with the tone of the choice.

Really, you could change “I liked to get tattoos.” to something like “I liked to get tattoos. Still do, if I’m being honest, even if it is a bit risky now.” and my complaint would be gone because the language of the choice would now be more consistent with the outcome of that choice.

You know I find it absurd that thinbloods are capable using disciplines while their vitae is simply to thin to even using it. Thinbloods are supposed to use Thinblood alchemy to compensate for their lack of disciplines. That or maybe Im wrong

Yes. Even if you aren’t a thinblood, you aren’t going to have 9 dots in 4 different disciplines without either being around a while (which the MC hasn’t) or committing a lot of diablerie.

I’ve already said what I have to say about this game on Steam. So I might as well copy paste my review here

First and foremost, this game has been on my wishlist since March of 2021. I was excited the day it finally came out and I purchased it as soon as I could. One gripe I have is the clan choice. Previous VTMs simply have the player choose their clan from a list. This one, however, is odd. You choose what disciplines your vamp is best at and those determine your clan. I don’t like that.

Weird clan system aside, I enjoyed the story. Even if I didn’t end up with Gor. Oh well, perhaps next time I will get to smooch him. The ending I got was bittersweet: my character Aliki ended up as sort of an adoptive mama to baby caitiff. I feel she saw herself in said baby, alone, scared, helpless.

Definitely a must read.

I didn’t even think this game was announced until November or something? I remember the original announcement, and I’ve only been on the forum for six months.

That said, I’m so glad to see this game getting some love. And yes, definitely keep trying with Gor - he has some great scenes!

Well I wishlisted it as soon as I could anyway :man_shrugging:

Having played this game multiple times over the past days since its release in an (admittedly ill fated) attempt to explore its various story paths, I am absolutely stumped how one could possibly get the achievements where you avenge the deaths of your mortal friend (Chrissie, Ilias, Isidora and any of the 3 Alexes).

Has anyone managed to achieve any one of these achievements at all? The fact that they have 4 separate achievements for avenging each of them (the 3 Alexes apparently count as one person, maybe he/she/they is a bit of a renaissance man) seem to imply that there are separate story paths that require different combinations of character builds (clans) and choices that would need to be followed to get these outcomes, as opposed to achievements such as diablerie or killing your sire which are the same regardless of which character is killed. However in spite of numerous playthroughs and different combinations I have never gotten anything close to achieving any of them since the game just seems to railroad you in a different direction

If anyone has found a way to get these achievements please do share
Also I think I have most of the other achievements, if anyone has trouble getting any of them please let me know, Thanks!

Nah Thinblood needs specific blood resonances to even use disciplines, the downsides is that it needs to come from a kindred not a kine and it’s also temporary use

That’s why I said “even if you aren’t a thinblood”.

You can have a merit that allows you to use Disciplines normally.

March 29th patch:

  • Some adjustments to difficulties, making certain tests easier

March 30th patch:

  • More Malkavianisms
  • Typos, bugs

Looking back, I think I struck out with Gor because, after Markos’ villa was attacked, I chose to go home and see my human family rather than going to the squat to see Gor.

It’s possible to start a romance with Gor as early as Chapter 4. Did you take his side at the Acropolis meeting?

Yes, I also went on the roof with him when the police raided the squat.

I’ve been able to start a romance with him when he caught up with me to thank me after the Acropolis meeting.

Can we get like, guides to this game?
Because. Damn it I keep trying to get Markus and ended up not happening several times now…

How how how do I get him?

Do you mean you couldn’t get a romance with him at all, or you didn’t get a “good” ending with him?
