In this elegy of blood, Athens is burning!

Vampire: The Masquerade — Sins of the Sires is an interactive novel by Natalia Theodoridou, based on “Vampire: The Masquerade” and set in the World of Darkness shared story universe. It’s entirely text-based, 300,000 words, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Athens, Greece: a city with an ancient past now thrust into the modern age. A city torn between the Camarilla establishment and the Anarchs, where everyone owes your boss a favor, and that makes you an untouchable vampire in this nocturnal society where you and your fellow Kindred must conceal yourselves from mortal eyes–the Masquerade of the Kindred.

Rumors spread of an ancient vampire, Aristovoros, intent on bringing about a new world for the Kindred, an end to the Masquerade. Why hide from mortals when you can reign over them as gods?

Who will you use, who will you help, and who will you prey on? Will you topple the old Prince Peisistratos? Will you betray your boss when your lost sire returns? What miseries will you inflict to fight for a fairer, more humane world?

• Become Clan Tremere, Ventrue, Malkavian, Banu Haqim, or thin-blooded.
• Play as a man, a woman, or a non-binary person, femme, masc, or androgynous, and as gay, straight, bisexual, queer, or ace.
• Outlast a dark tale of corruption, power hunger, betrayal, and yearning for what you once were.
• Rise within the ranks of the Camarilla, stand with the Anarchs, or forge your own lonely way ahead.
• Unmask your true sire. Is it the Prince Peisistratos? One of the city’s Primogen? Is it Aristovoros himself?

Which part will you play in this game of masks?

This game is a new favorite for me. Easily in my top five CS games ever.

I can’t wait to hear what the rest of the community thinks. I’m excited to discuss the characters especially. I have extremely strong and incredibly complex feelings about almost all of them.

I’ve been so excited for this one that I actually stopped myself from finishing the demo on Steam a few months (?) ago so that I could play it all at once! I’ve loved each of the VtM titles released for different reasons and so this one is also an insta-buy. Wish me luck in finding the mental strength and discipline to finish my next thesis draft before I play it …

Very interested to give this a try. Making a game where you can range from the childe of an ancient vampire to a thin-blood seems really challenging, and I’m interested to see how it is pulled off.

Can anyone tell me how to become Malkavian there? I can’t seem to pick the right choices.

You need to choose Auspex and Obfuscate as your two primary Disciplines.

Something to note about this is that there are quite a few skill tests that test two stats at once. It’s structured as a good/medium/failure system, with varying degrees of success based on your skill levels. However, it requires both stats to be at a medium level to get the medium result, so if you are specced highly into Stealth, but the Test requires Stealth and Composure, you will end up eating shit, which is a bit unexpected.

Overall though, I really liked the story of the game. I got be a part of a kinda fucked up Tremere family, have a Sire that was of course using me, but not stabbing me in the back, and I got to end the game, fucked up family intact. It was nice to have a game were we didn’t have to tear our ‘familial unit’ apart.

It was refreshing to not follow all the stereotypes that Sire relationships seem to take. I was really expecting to be lead into a plan to betray Markos at the end, and I was pleasantly surprised.

I really loved this. I loved how thought-provoking it was about the duties of a lowly new vampire. I pursued Markos’s romance, and he ended up being my Sire, and I love how I still can’t fully tell how much he truly loved my MC or was just using them.

Some people might not like that the MC is not an all-powerful, “take over the world” sort, but rather someone in the background, scheming to try and survive however they need to (if you play this way, which I did not haha). But I loved it. I loved feeling like I was trying to gain power in a place built to keep me down. Truly a fun and unique experience.

Does anyone know who the other romances are?

Edit: Also, I think it’s really funny that you can spend the entire game insisting Markos is not your Sire, only for him to be like “surprise, I’m your sire.” I’m not sure how much it made sense in the grand scheme of things, but I still loved it.

Is it actually possible to have Aristovoros as a Sire? If so, could somebody please point me in right direction? I’m also interested in the lowest possible generation.

I’m enjoying it a lot!

No, it isn’t.

Okay, thank you! Good to know.

Huh, I’m a little surprised that there’s only the one female option. Sad to say I was also looking out for Vole…alas, Persa and Gor are great too and I’m excited to see their romances!

More romance-ish options:

There’s also Chrissie who’s female, Isidoros who’s male, and Alex who’s nb, depending on who you choose as a tie to your old life.

I checked the google store and its not on there yet…as of 5 minutes ago

It’s been there for several hours. But that doesn’t mean it’s easily searchable, unfortunately. You can always find new releases in the omnibus, however.

Well loved what I could play of the story but it won’t let me pay for the rest lol so not sure what’s happening with that part of things.
