"Vampire: The Masquerade — Out for Blood"—Hunt the vampires that terrorize your town!

Hi, sorry to bother you personally. You seem to have the most widespread knowledge of the endings. I received Ending 12 where Monroe stakes Chastain and drags her away, but afterwards my MC is approached by (I presume) the Arcanum, and is explicitly told that he had played a part in Chastain AND Monroe’s death. Is this a glitch of some sort, a bit where the script breaks down, or does Monroe just die off-screen somehow?

Hi. No problem! I have got all of the Endings apart from #11 (which I just can’t seem to get, after the author did some rejigging of what triggers the FBI endings). And yes, it is the Arcanum who approaches the MC. If he/she joins that group, that leads to Ending 10.

I had the same text on my first playthrough as you, too. So far as I know, it’s a glitch - and Monroe is still alive if she didn’t die in Ch.11. Elsewhere, there is Ending 8, where the death of Chastain specifically returns Monroe to human - but I presume that the MC needs to have ‘friend’ status with Monroe, for her to reveal herself to the MC in Ch.12, to trigger that ending.

Thank you! That definitely clears things up for me. As good an excuse for a replay as any.

On my latest playthrough, I wanted to see if the vampire ending would be any different if my MC managed to hook up with Monroe. As I expected, the ending was no different…

I too would like to see something of a romantic ‘MC becomes a vampire and settles down with a vampire companion’ ending. But at present, that’s not exactly amongst the endings the author has written. The author said he was considering the suggestion from me (and another poster) about getting the thin-bloods to find a way to turn the MC into a vampire. I don’t know if that will happen in the future.

At present, the best you can hope for is to level up your relationship with Monroe to friendship level (60% or higher). At the same time, you need to become friendly enough with Chastain, as she’s the only vampire who can Embrace the MC. I’ve now found a way to do this…

  1. Always play the game in storyteller mode.
  2. Go for one of the science professions when creating your character. Aim to have a character with a combination of Manipulation and Subterfuge of 7, when you’re able to get it that high during the game. Also, from the start, aim for a combination of Intelligence and Resolve that totals 6. Your character will then have strong willpower. This will unlock Chastain’s hidden first appearance in the game, immediately after the Mayor’s first visit to the store.
  3. Flirt a little with Chastain during this unlocked scene. This will up your MC’s relationship with her by 10%.
  4. When meeting the thin-bloods in Ch.8, either say you’ll give them 24 hours to get Tyler’s body discovered, or (better yet) that you won’t tell anyone about Tyler’s death. Your relationship with Monroe will go up by different degrees, according to your choice.
  5. Chs. 9-10. If you’ve now got Manipulation and Subterfuge totalling 7, your character can now get away with lying to Chastain! Make choices that get Chastain and Monroe to like you - but don’t let Chastain seduce you. If you’ve gauged it right, the -15% hit to the Chastain relationship when you reject her advances will drop from the late 70% s to early 60% s. This will still get her to regard your character as a friend. So, when your character gets the vampiresses to reconcile, Chastain will invite you to Bleakrest House in Ch.12. If your character has at least 27% on the Path of Immortality (and Path of Righteousness is low), then she’ll probably offer to turn your MC. But the last you’ll see of Monroe in the story (unless you reject the Embrace) is her popping out of the house before Chastain makes her offer. There isn’t a final scene of your character and Monroe hanging out together, hunting the town for blood (unfortunately).

Hope that helps!

Is there a way to have romance with Eric?

Hello. Welcome to this thread!

It’s a shame that nobody’s already answered your question…

To my knowledge, no. Not seen anyone say so.

There is a scene in Ch.9 where if you are discreet enough in following Jace, you will discover Eric’s hiding place during the daytime. Later, you can follow Eric to a trash yard and have a private conversation. I’ve only unlocked this scene twice, so don’t know all the possibilities it might hold.

If you want a romance with a vampire, go with Jace or Monroe. Or Chastain for a less-romantic fling.

Thanks, a pity there’s no possible romance with Eric, Yes, i’ve got this private conversation with Eric, but could not go further in the relationship with them.

I’ve got a few questions because you seem to know what you’re doing. I’ve got 3 endings/achievements to go eternal enemy, a gift of blood, and where’s Hobbs bend? Witness protection ending. Every single time I end up pissing off chastain either she dies by Monroe or Damien. I needs some help.

Thanks for the compliment! I have got all the Achievements, except for Ending 11. Also, I’ve not played the game just recently, as I’m waiting for the new content to be added by the author (his Facebook page recently indicated that might happen in the next few weeks). But I’ll try to help…

Ending 2, 'Witness Protection Ending: I got this ending once in an early play - but I can’t get either it again or Ending 11 (the two FBI endings) ever since the author apparently altered the parameters for branch triggers! When I did get Ending 2, it was though leaving breadcrumbs around the story for the authorities to pick upon (such as talking to the sheriff and other police about vampires and hinting ‘something paranormal is going on in town’. Can’t recall if I saved Duke Bowie that time. I probably told the sheriff about the missing boy’s body in the park.

Have you got Ending 11 yet?

What I think you should do, which I did when I got Ending 2, is to get Chastain and Monroe reconciled. Good levels of Leadership, Persuasion, and Subterfuge are needed so that you can play both ladies into thinking you are in their court. But avoid lying to Chastain.

Ending 6, ‘The Eternal Enemy’: I got this once after reconciling the two vampiresses. My relationship with Chastain ended on 34%. So, keep Chastain alive, but keep your relationship low enough, for her to chastise you and your friends at the end!

A gift of blood: In chapter 9, when Chastain visits you at your store’s house, build up the relationship and indicate that you are interested about ‘ghouls’. Your Immortality path should be below 27% and above 0% by chapter 12.

Hope that helps!

Thank you very much.

How can I get romantic ending with Jace??

I thought for sure I’d get the eternal enemy. I got my relationship with chastain down to 10% and got the two vampires to reconcile. I’m going to keep working at that. Btw I figured out that chastain personality is based on mae west. Everything about chastain in game personality wise is identical to mae west even description save one little point chastain is supposed to be tall mae west only 5 ft tall just thought I’d share

Okay, that’s interesting. I’ve only seen Mae West in one film, years ago. She’s not someone I’ve thought about for a long time.

When I got Ending 6 the one time, Chastain acted as if I had tried to kill her in that playthrough (I hadn’t), so perhaps your Path of Righteousness needs to be higher than your Path of Immortality. Good luck as you beaver away at your goals!

I made a post with romance tips here that might help!

Jace Tips

For all romance, you need to note your interest in their respective gender in Chapter one.

Jace

  • I’m unsure, but I believe you do need to offer Jace a room in chapter six. Which means that you need to go to Doctor Lobo’s office and meet him, then offer the room.
  • If you visited Adam in chapter four and insulted Mr. McCrae, his children will come to beat you up in chapter six. Jace can save you from them, and it gives you an option to flirt.
  • In chapter ten, if you rented out the room to Jace, he’ll check in on you. If you have a high enough relationship level, you can express interest in him.

I’ll add that when you encounter Mr McCrae at the Bane’s accountancy office in Ch3 or Ch4, you’ll need to insult McCrae. This will result in his sons attacking you as you walk back to your home in, I think it’s Ch5. You’ll then actually need to fail a statistics test, for Jace to come to your rescue. That will improve the likelihood of a romance with him.

You might need to ring him when Perry attacks the store in Ch10, to push the relationship further - though this will result in an unfortunate death of another character towards the end of the game.

Ohhh…I see…now understand better…
thank you so much…

Thank you so much…
Jace came to save my character aka mc when Perry attacked along with Kyra…& the McCrae children attack happens much later…couldn’t find any option to call for help then…& I did all the other things too… Actually what I wanted to know that, Can I get the “Romantic Partner ending” with Jace because I did all this thing but didn’t get that specific ending achievement with Jace … though he was romantically involved at the end after showing interest but The relationship lvl with him never reaches above 72 no matter what I do… I think to get the “Romantic partner ending” with Jace, I will atleast need to reach 80…There is so less interaction with him that it never reaches 80 & always remains status: Friend.
