"Vampire: The Masquerade — Out for Blood"—Hunt the vampires that terrorize your town!

I haven’t gotten the Monroe romance yet, but I did get an epilogue where she turned back to human and asked to work in the store. Perhaps that’s what happens when you have another romance active? And yeah, it was more adorable than I expected when she went skipping down the street afterwards.

If you’re in the romance (if she doesn’t ask if you’d like her to stay the night after the Perry/Kyra attack, you’re not - either there’s another romance stopping it, or you don’t have a high enough relationship with her), she still asks in the end if she can work in the store, and in the next screen asks you if you want to continue the romance.

Hi! You’ve got a they’re/their error in the scene towards the end where Monroe shows up as human.

I just finished my first playthrough for Out for Blood, and got Ending 12. I’m a little confused about some of the details mentioned however, and was wondering if they were bugs or anything of that sort.

EDIT: Okay, I don’t know why the spoiler tags are not working. I seem to be doing the right thing? Very sorry. Please don’t read past this if you haven’t got Ending 12.
I decided to let Chastain and the young vampires fight it out, but since I had earlier refused to help Monroe, the story took me straight to MC’s gang of hunters attacking Chastain, with Monroe and her vampires joining in later on their own. Which is fine. The whole fight ended with Monroe staking Chastain and taking her away to face True Death. That’s the last I see of Monroe, Jace and Eric.

In the last chapter, I’m approached by Trina, and she explicitly mentions ‘your role in the death of Monroe Duncan’. The story too acts as if all the vampires are gone/dead, and Jericho Heights is safe again.

It feels like a story route that would have happened if I’d actually got all the vampires to fight it out, and then killed them all, but the game got confused. Or something of that sort. Can anyone verify or explain what’s happening here? What happened to Monroe and the others in this ending?
Thanks a lot.

‘On a side note, does anyone know what the dirt the mayor imported is or if it comes up again?’

Hi. After reading a tip from the author on this forum, I can now give an answer on the dirt!

If your character fails a statistics test whilst sneaking through Bleakrest House in Ch.7, you’ll be confronted by Jayfield. If you have already seen the dirt in the globe in Ch.3 you’ll be given the option to mention this to Jayfield. If you do, he’ll say that it’s a practical joke of Chastain’s. Apparently, she fooled Bumpley into acquiring something which he thought could be used against her. So this seems like a red herring line of investigation, unfortunately.

I agree with your other points - as that seems to have been my experience as well.

Sorry, the Blur Spoiler tool isn’t working properly. Again!

Spoiler below!

The trick is to watch out for anything that will push your character along the Road of Immortality. In my experience, if your character reaches
27% or more - and if your character’s relationship with (a still-alive) Chastain is friendly enough by Ch.12, she’ll offer to Embrace you.

But if the Road of Immortality percentage is low enough (even if zero!) - and the other stated factors are the same - Chastain’s offer will be different. If in Ch.10, you’ve chosen to help Chastain by picking ‘I’ll help you, but I want something in return’, followed by ‘I wish to become a ghoul’, that might sway Chastain’s offer to you - leading to getting Ending 4. Another thing that will help is being chummy enough with Chastain in Ch.10 so that she becomes a friend (60% or more in the relationship rating), and your MC being sexually interested in the ladies. Then she’ll try to seduce you on grandpa’s bed. There’s an option to taste her blood, and that can push your MC towards Ending 4.
If you’ve not already got Ending 4, I hope that helps!

Hi,

I played through this game yesterday, and had some thoughts about it that I’ve been encouraged to share.

So; first off, what I liked about the game was the introductory segment. The atmosphere that was set during that time, the pervasive sense of things scurrying around in the night you aren’t even sure exist and the creeping sense of something more going on behind the scenes that you aren’t privy to, was really good, and the initial couple of introductions (Makayla, Lam, the Mayor) were done really nicely.

I think if the whole game had kept that kind of atmosphere going, it would have been an amazing experience to read.

Unfortunately, the game fell down a bit after that, and went on a decline through most of the rest of the game- though a relatively steady decline, there was never a point where I felt the quality fell off a cliff, but things did continue to strain under its constraints over time.

First; while the initial introduction of certain characters was really good, the pacing of the various characters being called to the store and being informed of vampires by Makayla felt very rushed. I’m not saying that it doesn’t make sense for the characters to somewhat believe her about vampires existing, to cut off that defence; but rather, you’d barely met most of these characters before suddenly you’re thrust together into a group, planning on hunting down someone you are kind-of convinced is a vampire.

These kinds of pacing issues continue throughout. Characters are introduced suddenly, or their issues and plots are resolved largely off-screen, or scenes are dedicated to learning things that scarcely matter to the plot in the end. Part of this is due to the nature of a choose-your-own-adventure game, as bits of knowledge are denied to you on one run; but that’s an excuse that wears very thin quite quickly.

Additionally, the horror elements of the work drift out of focus rather early on, and are only occasionally brought in to remind you of what you’re facing. I don’t expect the pervasive sense of dread and being watched by the things in the night to be omnipresent through the work, but I expected them to come up more often than they did. Having slept on it for a night, the only scenes I remember after the introductory segment that have any substantial horror vibes to them are the scene where you talk with the Sheriff about the house, the scene where you meet Perry in the alley, and the scene where you meet the gang of vampires for the first time.

These are major issues I encountered while playing through the game, with the pacing issues being the first ones to rip me out of my immersion and make me question why these things are happening. Marcus, as a character, was someone entirely new to me- I was informed after inquiring with my friends that he’s a potential dinner partner at the Mayor’s dinner party, but having not chosen to sit beside him there, I had no idea who he was.

The same goes for several other characters- their introductions being so rushed and perfunctory meant that I had little engagement in them as people. I liked Lam because I generally like his archetype, but he’s somehow one of the most developed characters in the game, behind Salem, Adam and Chastain. You learn his basic motivations and get a good idea of his personality, which allows you to care about him in a way that I don’t care about Marcus or the Sheriff or the doctor-lady, etc.

I’m not sure that posting this impression of the game will be very helpful, but thank you for letting me get my thoughts out of my head and onto the page.

‘Five new character portraits added.’

I’ve now played the game several times since the patch - and have seen the new character portraits for the Mayor, the Sherriff, Lam, and Aniss Kean. But I haven’t yet seen the 5th character illustration. Who is it, please?

Despite several tries at trying to ‘make waves in town’, as per advice from another forum user, I’ve not been able to get the FBI crashing in on me at Bleakrest House again. Please advise - as Ending 11 is now the only Achievement I cannot reach. I seem to have done all that I did when I got Ending 2 (for the only time).

I’ve never had any of my MC’s friends die in the Ch.11 battle, so it seems that my character is too canny with his/her decisions (even when I’m not forcing a truce).

Please can you say if the ‘Thin-bloods can reward the MC and his/her girlfriend with immortality, if they help to kill Chastain’ idea that I asked about earlier is on the cards or not for a future patch? If it’s not, I would be up for writing a not-for-profit fanfiction - but only with your author’s permission. I did such a fanfiction for the CoG’s ‘Donor’, with the author’s permission.

Thank you for your time and efforts in making this game!

Hi, sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you could tell me if the app tells you if a patch has been applied? I’ve only played through once, and I’m not sure if that was before or after the patch/es (how many have there been even?).

Thank you!

I believe you can head into the play/app store and search for the app. If an update is available that you haven’t downloaded yet, an option to update it will be available. At least, thats usually how I check for updates

The last patch was on August 15.

Thanks. In that case, I played the patched version. That’s what I was trying to figure out.

Just to clear any doubts, if you got visited by Amanda Chastain shortly after you arrive (when she tells you to forget), that’s the patched version.

I’m confused coz in my phone it says I have version 1.0.6, which I believe is the last one but I don’t remember the scene you are talking about. Can you tell me when exactly that occurs?

Huh. That definitely didn’t happen for me. Maybe because I was past that chapter before the patch was rolled out? Or would I have had to restart the story for the patch to work?

Hi. Same here as with Johnnydoi and Arghya_Raihan. I have version 1.0.6 (automatic update via Play Store on Android) - and I do not recall ever having Chastain visiting my MC and specifically telling him/her to forget (is this at the end of Ch.3 / beginning of Ch.4?).

Someone on this forum seemed to talk about Chastain appearing at the very start of the story, after a patch was applied - but if that’s what they truly meant, that has not happened to me.

Maybe you need to have a high resolve for that to happen

Hey, can I use your help please? I have an awesome game called vampire the Masquerade out for Blood, I am trying to become a vampire myself working for my girl Monroe & my vampire friends to kill Chastain, Is there a way I can reach 100% immortality? ( vampire ) i need clan thin-blood. also, can you tell me how I save my kitty attack form perry? Also. There’s a 2 endings between Embrace the Darkness & a new take of immortality

from what i understand the only one that can reward you vampirism is chastain, this can be a thinblood like monroe or a full vampire

As for the cat, it only intervenes if you go wrong in the fight

I don’t think you can axe Chastain and still be Embraced. However, I was never interested in getting turned into a parasite, so @DenaFan , who’s conducted extensive research on the possible paths can be of more help than I in this instance.

@Johnnydoi @Arghya_Raihan @DenaFan @Canix I hadn’t considered that you might need a high Resolve for the scene to play. It makes sense, and it’s the sort of thing I’d expect from Dattilo. I can tell you that 3 Resolve is enough for the scene to show up now, and that it didn’t show up at 3 Resolve before the patch. It takes place IMMEDIATELY after Bumpley drops by the store the first time.

When I press “View the Credits” in the game (computer version), the browser page that pops up tells me that my game version is 24272.
