"Vampire: The Masquerade — Out for Blood"—Hunt the vampires that terrorize your town!

I understand your comments, but I think the story is still a valid form of a vampire story. Chastain isn’t Dracula. She’s a shlobby small-town “Prince” who picked a fight with a store owner and only fought him to a tie. She’s probably more representative of an “average” vampire than the big-brain chess masters who are five Auspex predictions ahead of you that most canon NPCs are. All that Chastain really has to her is one incredibly competent ghoul whom she can’t even be bothered to pay.

And I think that’s fine. It’s a small-town story about a small-town vampire and a small-town vampire hunter.

To be clear, I haven’t said the story isn’t valid. I’ve raised a couple of suggestions where I think it can be improved, while being upfront that I recognise these things are subjective and that others might have different preferences.

Can someone make a guide for the achievements, endings, and romances because I’m trying to get some of these correct, but I’m having some trouble.

Hi WarMachine658.

After about 16 playthroughs, I’ve now got everything apart from Endings 5 & 11. I won’t write a comprehensive guide. But please give me a list of what aims you want to focus on, on this forum - and I’ll do my best to answer them for free!

The author talked about altering the settings that trigger the FBI appearing in the story - so I’m now finding that I can’t get them to show up again, despite the advice of JBento (and doing what I did as per the playthrough that got me Ending 2).

Maybe it’s a priority problem? Like, you’re fulfilling all the conditions for the FBI, but you’re ALSO fulfilling the conditions for another ending that takes precedence and precludes it?

Alright I might have two things to ask about which first is how to get Amanda and Monroe to reconcile. The second is how to get the romance achievement with Amanda because it doesn’t seem to trigger when I get to the end if the game.

Hmm. Could be. I was keeping my character’s options open ('If I can’t get this elusive Achievement, then I maybe I could get this other, yet-to-have, Achievement).

I’ll have to keep trying, when I have time. Thanks for your advice.

I always play with the Storyteller mode on, and that tells me the change in percentages with regard to character relationships, etc. To romance Amanda Chastain, your character needs to say and do things that will built up her relationship status to 70% and over (Friend).

For the last few playthroughs, I’ve usually been playing a strategy of getting Chastain and Monroe reconciled (sometimes by agreeing to the requirements of both vampiresses).

From the author’s tip, it is possible to meet Amanda Chastain early - in Ch.7 - by getting caught by Jayfield, in Bleakrest House. But I can’t recall if it’s possible, here, to gain any points with Chastain to get her to like you. I suspect not.

To my knowledge there isn’t a ‘romance achievement with Amanda’, per se. There is the Blood Kiss Achievement - which the MC can get with her, Jace, or Monroe - provided the relationship status has risen high enough for them to want to have sex with the MC. There’s also ‘Ending 4, the Ghoul Achievement’ - and to get that, you need to get pally with Chastain.

In case you’re not sure, here’s how to get a sexual encounter with Amanda Chastain:

In Ch.9, your character has options to befriend and even flirt with Chastain, thus upping the relationship status between them. In Ch.10, when Perry is breaking into the MC’s house, it’s probably better to ring for Chastain’s help (though if you ring for Monroe, Chastain may get there first anyway). The MC has an opportunity to say to Chastain ‘I’ll help you, if…’ and there’s an option for her/him to ask to become a Ghoul. If your MC’s agreed to help her by the end of Ch.10, Chastain will try to seduce the MC in grandpa’s bedroom. If her status is high enough by this stage, she’ll even offer your MC a taste of her blood. On my last play, after a peaceful resolution between Chastain and Monroe - and with just 20% on Path of Immortality, dwarfed by Path of Knowledge (Path of Righteousness 0%), Chastain invited my MC to Bleakrest House, to offer her the Ghoul Achievement. Avoid anything that upsets Chastain too much. She wants you to like her.

As for reconciling the vampiresses… Aim for a combination of good social attributes and skills with any combined total of 5 or 6 dots, by Ch.9. If you’re already allied with Chastain, she’ll send Jayfield to talk with your MC during Ch.11 - and you can tell him of the thin-blood’s planned attack, if you wish. Tell your human friends that your real aim is to get the two sides reconciled before setting out for the gazebo, then sneak in close to Chastain, and be ready to break up the fight between the vampiresses, persuading Monroe to give up.

Hope that helps!

On a separate note to everyone, has anyone yet found if the Stress levels of your human friends makes a difference in the game? They never seem to impact on my playthroughs. But then I’ve never got any of my ‘hunting party’ killed in the park yet.

Thank you for helping me with this. If I have anymore questions I’ll let you know.

Okay. I was going to edit my last message with the advice not to lie to Chastain! Even with a combined six dots on a statistics test, she’ll sense if your MC is lying to her - and that will cool the relationship between the characters. If your MC doesn’t want her to know something, be vague to her instead.

A new typo found.

In response to a player reporting on Chastain’s reaction to the MC when he/she resists her at an early stage, I’ve decided to up my Faith level to 5. Consequently, in Ch.8 with the thin-bloods approaching for their meeting, the text reads with regard to one character ‘He Covers his years with his hands and grimaces in pain’.

Thanks to my MC’s heightened Faith, I’m now wondering if Darlene is a vampire! I had previously sussed her to be one of those, like Bumpley and Sherriff Ray, to be benefitting from the blood products that Chastain seems to be providing (possibly through Dr Lobo).

I know you were considering it, but is it likely that in a future version of this game, that the thin-bloods can provide a means for the MC and his/her love interest to become vampires if Chastain is defeated? It would balance out the bleak Ending 3. Otherwise, I might be interested in writing a not-for-profit fanfiction based on ‘Out For Blood’, but only if you have no objections. I did this for the author of ‘Choice of Games - Donor’, with her advance permission.

Oh, if we’re going for typos, if you start the romance with Monroe she says “I get hungry I’m horny” or something to that effect, which I’m pretty sure is missing a “when”. Don’t know if it requires you to pick the “not wanting to make assumptions” option.

Just finished the game and I AM not satisfied because Lam died in my playthrough:pleading_face: is he always be dead or can I save him?? He’s sooo precious tho

he dies if perry is alive by the end

Hi there! Lam can be saved, if you
call upon a ruthless rescuer when Perry is breaking into your home (either Aniss Kean or Amanda Chastain). If you don’t call for help, Chastain seems to come to your MC’s rescue as a default. I’ve never got for the police route, as I don’t think that’ll work. The thin-bloods won’t kill Perry.

Kean and Chastain will kill Perry, even if he slips away. And get rid of Kyra too.
That will ensure that Lam makes it to the festival.

Edit: You can’t actually call upon Aniss Kean. What I meant was you can pre-arrange for Kean to come to your store, to rescue you from Perry in Ch.10. How to do this? In Ch.9, visit Zane Schafer and, whilst being respectful to him, keep pressing him to accept that you take the existence of vampires in town seriously, and that you intend to deal with them. If you improve your relationship with him enough, he’ll drive Kean over to your store, ready to deal with Perry and Kyra. And Kean will take no prisoners. This could also lead to Ending 9, if you want to work with Kean in the long term .

Just curious, how exactly do you romance Monroe, and how does that affect the other romances?

Say I decide to romance Salem/Lacey and then Monroe. Will I be forced to choose one? Is there a happy romance ending with Monroe? Would like to know

I’m a huge fan of the Monroe romance. I have no idea why, because Monroe shows up like 5 times in the entire game, and there’s only 2 romance moments with her, tops. And yet she’s my favourite romance of all the CoG games I’ve been playing. Girl is both kickass and adorable.

To romance Monroe, you need to have a good relationship with her when she comes to your home after the Perry and Kyra attack. This means you can’t antagonise her during your meeting with the Thinbloods in the hill (you still can have Tyler’s body found in 24 hours), and the only way I’ve managed to have a high enough relationship score is to, when she comes to your house after the attack, don’t ask any questions and immediately say you’ll help her take down Chastain. If you have a high enough relationship, once Chastain leaves, she’ll (adorably) ask if you would like her to spend the night (if you say yes, you can pick the option of “not wanting to make assumptions” for more adorableness first. I’m told you can also pick the “you’re a vampire and I’m uncomfortable with that” option, and you can still end up in a relationship with her in the epilogue if you kill Chastain).
There is at least one happy ending with Monroe, if you help her succeed in killing Chastain - she comes to your house in the epilogue, and asks if you’re still interested in a relationship.
