Totem Force (post-release thread)

First off why did you send that to me? And second with all due respect I simply meant the clothing style ideas I do like both characters tho I grew up with them so please keep this civil. There’s no need to be rude

His name is Tyrant_Evil. You asked why he was being rude. He’s an evil tyrant. It’s in the name.

Ok going back to the topic of the game the only thing I wish was we could have gotten abut more variety in the super power aspect

Are you a claimed minotaur?

I have been claimed by a minotaur, yes.

Or maybe I’m a minotaur and someone claimed me? Who knows at this point?

Suits are definitely something that I could add more customisation for, although I won’t be adding references to “real” superheroes, sorry. Powers (and to a lesser extent, weapons, mecha, etc.) would be more heavily dependant on the plot, so probably won’t be as variable.

Also, could we please keep arguments to a minimum, joke or not? Thanks.

Is there a difference between choosing which experiment we free or is it just for flavor? I tend too choose alien :alien:

Are draconic powers still gonna be a thing in the sequel or no? I love dragons so I’m hoping for this.

I loved Totem Force since the moment i read it as my first wip back when i was like 15, i eagerly hope to see more of this world (luckily theres an awesome something called The One Chosen to keep us satisfied till then)

It’s mainly flavour, both of your Totem and the form Kurtesh takes at the end. There might be some minor differences in the final battle, but it doesn’t change your stats or anything like that. (I had initially had it choose your armour as well, but people preferred to choose that themselves.)

As I said earlier, I am still thinking about it, but the power would probably be more plot-related.

Thank you; I hope to write more about this world some day.

I think I first played this game back when it was a WIP on Dashingdon sometime in 2017 or so. I played it and had a great time with the 7 chapters that existed at the time, forgot about it, returned to it a couple years later, realized it was now monetized, and promptly forgot about it again. (No hate on paid games - just couldn’t buy it at the time.) I then remembered CoG was a thing about two weeks ago, dug up my old account, and purchased Totem Force, excited to see both the old parts of the game I loved and the new parts I hadn’t ever seen.

Suffice it to say I was NOT disappointed. This game is charming, fun, witty, and all around a good time. I think I played through at least 12 times trying to romance everyone and get all the endings. (Speaking of which, I LOVED the romance paths - Kay’s and Ryu’s especially, but I had a good time with Anara/Chi and Sammy as well. They added a lot of flavor to the story and were also just really sweet and fun. All of these characters are very interesting…in their own way, which made every single romance route intriguing.)

The fact that some of the flavor text changes depending on your stats/armor/other stuff - even though it’s relatively small things - really sold the game for me (ex. the MC being able to figure out the suppression field logistics on their own if you have decently high Mind at the very beginning, or Kay and Anara/Chi eventually being able to communicate in armor if you have high Friendship.) I think that shows a great deal of care was taken throughout the story to ensure the player knows that their choices matter. Plus, each stat having its own advantages (but not to the point one was clearly better than another) made stat balancing really fun - on my 100% runs, getting to see each differing game made for some really fun, fresh playthroughs.

This game was the first game I ever went through the code for because I was just so intrigued as to how some of the stats worked (and also I kept screwing up my 0% runs and was trying to figure out how to get all the deus ex machinas). The “darkness” stat was definitely fun to see (and successful at unnerving me during an actual “evil” playthrough), as well as Ryu’s relationship stats. He’s probably one of my faves, the tsundere.

If you’re still taking bug reports - I think there might have been a couple bugs (?) that still snuck through (if not, feel free to ignore this!)

I let Anara die, so most of the dialogue she otherwise has in this scene doesn’t appear…except for the last line, which I assume shouldn’t be there. The same thing happens with Chi, too, if he is the one you fight in Chapter 9.

If you’re in a relationship with Ryu, he says, “If you trust me - love me - please let me do this.” This is from a playthrough where I wasn’t dating him (but still had a good relationship with him), so was it supposed to just say, “If you trust me, please let me do this,” or is it something else?

Anyway, I could gush about this game for hours, but I’d probably break the CoG forum’s character limit, so I’ll just end it here and say: you did a really impressive job with this game, and if you ever do make a sequel, I’d be very excited to read/play it!! :orange_heart:

Thanks for your kind words.

Thanks! Bug reports are always welcome, although I’m not sure when I’ll get a chance to fix them.

And as you may have noticed upthread, I have mentioned having ideas for a sequel, but they are still very much ideas, and if I did write it, it would have to be about a new group of characters, who just happen to live in the same world.

Thanks again.
