The Wight King(WIP) - Chapter 6 added (12/01/2023)

Ah, finally someone responsible. With all those people trying to unleash the abyss upon the world, it’s nice to see someone is not ready to condemn the entire world just to get a few sets of tentacles.

You have the thanks of the poor people who’ve given everything to keep it contained. Seriously, imagine that you manage to keep the abyss sealed for five thousand years, no even longer than that, and suddenly because of some idiot undead overlord, it’s the end of the world and the efforts of generations upon generations of heroes were in vain.

Honestly sounds like the goal of an immortal bored of living…

Don’t tempt me, I live to spite others.

So… you want a person who would casually kill someone because they never grew the moral maturity to understand the concept?

Ooh, I get to be someone’s ironic hell to torture them for their past mistakes? This eldritch thing isn’t sounding so bad anymore.

An eldritch Bob… Science needs to continue!

Are templars recruited or like raised from birth to be troops or what? How’s the inquisition? Do old men randomly get sprayed with holy water?

Anyway I generally avoid deals where I sell my soul or the like.

I don’t want anything, I don’t like the trope in the first place. I just think it’s not interesting, most of the time. As a joke it’s alright.

Templars are conscripted, chosen among those that would have gone to the legion instead, about 25% of the conscripts are made templars. Aquilea is kinda desperate so they don’t look at them twice before giving them a sword, a pat on the back, a rushed anointment and sending them to die wherever they’re most needed. They try to identify those that could be made paladins, clerics or priests but some often get through the holes in the net.

Aquilean nobles get positions as superior officers, regardless of their martial education, what Aquilea wants out of templar officers is zeal and eagerness to serve the almighty.

Most of the templars are just regular grunts at best, zealots and criminals at worst. The paladins among them are often barely better, even if they believe in the Light, they’re not “true” paladin has Rhadamante had intended.

As for Inquisitors, it’s actually complicated. THE Inquisition is a very old organization, even older than the paladins or Aquilea. Their role was to bring justice to the farthest places in darker times, where judges couldn’t go. They are actually mostly fair and impartial. They’re not directly linked to any religion. They grant themselves otherworldly powers through self-sacrifice, blood rituals and stigmatas to carry on their duties to the best of their ability and travel the land in teams of three or more, and go to the places they feel have need of them.

However, the Aquilean church has debauched that organization in the eyes of many. They act as if the Inquisition was always part of the church, and appoint vicars as Templar-Inquisitors. Which are… far less impartial.

No eldritch hell is worth becoming a Jessie James knockoff.

But seriously as a survival I wouldn’t team up with the eldritch entities that’s just a hard pass.
I’d rather be the first ever undead templar than that… undead templar wielding light… don’t tell them.

When is said the Old ones showed up I didn’t really intend for them to be friendly like I was thinking that Chaos might be a shield of sorts preventing the Old ones from interfering in the World

Bow chicks bow down

Who watches the watchemen!

So are Inquisitors going crazy and being brought down by others a common thing?

But Zen’o was played mostly humorously!

I’d rather it be played super straight, everyone is terrified that their lives may be ended in a moment at the whims of a child.

In the country that would be local lords, but in the fringe, technically no one. In the fringe, people make their own justice, regardless of the crown laws, so that’s where inquisitors are most needed. Inquisitors aren’t all powerful, they can’t go around accusing people without proof, but with their powers, getting said proof is easy as they can rip it from your mind directly if you refuse to speak.

Inquisitors can’t usually give a death penalty, that is the lord’s role, they bring the criminals they capture to the lord and have him or her execute the sentences. Some Inquisitors did abuse their powers though, by excess of zeal or by pure ruthlessness, and put people to death on the spot. If they’re caught, these inquisitors will be relentlessly hunted until killed or brought back alive to the order to explain themselves and be judged. It’s pretty rare for an inquisitor to go rogue, since they really have no reasons to.

Inquisitors technically have the same power as the local authorities, but should defer to them if only by courtesy.

It happens sometimes, but not just them. That can happen to someone from any faction, champions for example aren’t exactly the most stable individuals.

His sole existence was enough to make almost the entirety of DBS two times as dumb as it already was, him and the angels. And his voice is irritating. Jokes are fine and all, but make a joke run for too long and it just becomes annoying. Especially when there’s two of them…

Plus I never pretended my beef against some tropes was logical.

Then again, it doesn’t need to be a child. Gods do tend to be extremely childish anyway.

The Norse gods in mythology are mature compared to the Greek ones

Well, that depends what myths you’re using as reference because while I don’t remember which ones exactly, I remember the Nordic pantheon wasn’t much better in term of impulsiveness, childish behaviour and terrible decisions.

I’m not sure if it was asked but do we need to worry about dragons?

As long as they are not near you, you should be fine

From what I remember they left the areas where the game takes place because they were hunted

People should worry about dragons like they should worry about getting hit by lightning, or for a meteor to fall on their house. It’s a danger, but not a constant danger unlike other monsters. Dragons are such a remote threat that people do not think much about them. Wyverns and drakes are something you should worry about, but it’s unlikely that you’ll need to worry about a dragon coming for you.

So no way to have an undead dragon mount/pet?

Well I’m assuming that there may be a few dragon “graves” so maybe unless the bones were used or decayed

I don’t know.

When a dragon dies, it usually starts a gold rush where literally everyone is trying to get a share. The materials harvested from dragons are the rarest and most expensive in the world, except for the most outlandish stuff.

So there aren’t dragons corpses lying around everywhere, not that there ever were a lot of dragons in the first place. But some of them were forgotten, died away from the world in secret, or somewhere humanity could never reach.

So dragons are extinct? NOOO!!!:sob::sob::sob: I SHALL AVENGE MY FALLEN SUBJECTS! FOR I AM THE DRAGONGODDESS!

They are an endangered specie, they just got tired of the other races shit and went into hiding, though you could still find one somewhere if you are lucky enough, if I’m not mistaken.

I’ll start a save the dragons campaign! And all who threaten the mighty dragons will die to my legions of undead! And awesome WK powers!

Indeed, such glorious race should be proctected from extinction, let’s just cull most humans and elves in exchange, less dragons hunters and more soldiers for us, it’s a win win situation.
