Instead of 2 weeks of hard torture why not 2 years of hard forced labour then burned on a stake?
I would think knowing that you’re going to die especially by being burned to death will lead to many upon many escape attempts. And failure to comply to whatever has been ordained.
First. Mara I adore you and every wondrous vengeful thing you say.
Second. I’m with Arcania. It’s just not going to work out really. Escapes leading to failure to comply leading to good luck trying to stop/kill all of them. I know you’d still try, but it really wouldn’t be worth it.
Third. And while allowing slavery at all would not be my gig… I suggest making a specific trail/road they must pass through your lands with and anyone caught off of it will then be tortured and burned. Armed guards will or should also be posted at intersections directing traffic…
Assuming your country could even support that. At this current juncture you’re better off banning slavery and coming back to it in seven years. Lol.
Final thing… Me being goofy. And since it is me being goofy and not necessarily helpful I am putting it in spoilers because I want to. :].

Hell hath no fury like a ruler who can’t see their heir.

Is it wrong that when I read this my main MC, who is quite reasonable maybe even nice, immediately had her Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland moment?
“How DARE they keep me from my child!? OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!”
Serenity: “But mila-!?”
“I AM HEARING NONE OF IT! ALL OF THEM! OFF WITH THEIR HEADS! NOW! OFF. WITH. THEIR. HEADS!”
Everyone is just staring.
“Oh and could you also bring me my offspring? Please-thank you.”
Still. just. staring.
“I SAID NOW!”
They scurry and flee to do her bidding.
Her child spends it’s entire youth having no idea why no one will hit them at practice. Or why there has never been an assassination or kidnapping attempt their entire life. Or why mommy’s eye twitches whenever her new partner suggests sending it to the Immortalia equivalent of camp and/or boarding school because they “had a great time there when they were little”.
Meanwhile she keeps the heads in their own custom glass boxes in her “secret room” (closet) and watches them slowly decay and/or dry out over the years occasionally making notes because science. XD.

I’d probably be the neglectful parent. Or groom them to fit in a role. Unless I had two… then I’d purposely behave completely opposite from one to the other. Can we have an order of brainwashed assassins? Or brainwashed anything?
Escape from what? THERE S NO DAMN SLAVERY IN MY COUNTRY AT ALL. It was a historic figure in some places when slavery still active. Some zones did not allow slavery trading in their country with death penalty to whoever who buy sell someone. However because the transportation rutes were so damn profitable they allowed free passed to the slavers and they wares in exchange of a generous fee
so no selling no buying just transport ?
Exactly, slavery is a bad stuff economically doesn’t allow a proper technology or industrialized system. Look Rome they had steam machines!!! They doesn’t used them because slaves were so cheap that it wasn’t profitable create machines. Imagine there weren’t slaves… we would living in other planets right now if industrial revolution happened with Romans hell they had automatic doors… Running water …
@Monk65 Beheading your once lover for your child, who is also the heir to all that you are building? Queen of Hearts Monk for the win. Honestly, that would make for great script in TRL.
@poison_mara It is that exact reasoning that leads me to settle on the idea that slavery in Imora would do more harm than good. Not to mention properly writing it under the right light from a home position.
With that said! Slavery will either be declared illegal or a loophole may be used to allow the transportation of slaves legally, albeit at a price. Buying and selling of slaves in Imora will be illegal.
However… what will be done when slaves see Imora as a safe haven? Will they be sent back to their owners or allowed to live as free citizens. Perhaps I’ll leave that up to our ruler.
Oh and as for the punishment matter

I probably should have put his name in my post on that one Though we were referring to the slavers who are caught and how they should be punished.
If it would be illegal slavers from other lands, I’d rather imitate William the Bastard/Conqueror{Am I getting my history right?}, handicap them {no hands, no feet, no eyes, except for a few with one} then send them back to their homes so their lands may take care of them. That will teach them to skip out on MY taxes. Actually that would just be a general rule of my country. Or forced servitude… It’s kind of a waste to run amok in a killing fashion when ruling a country.
History has shown that brutality makes people resent your rule and can cause rebellions or wars
Product:Brutality
Secondary effect can Include people resenting your rule, Rebelions or Wars.
Sometimes brutality is a necessity the trick is to know when to use it. You can be just and brutal at the same time
Some good news and some bad news.
Good news Opening approach to romances with others will be added in coming update.
Bad news Accidently saved over an important scene. Sadly with no way to recover it I’ll have to replace it. This’ll cause a setback in the update. About… a week? Correction… a few weeks…
As for the brutality discussion. I wouldn’t quite say it is a necessity, but it can definitely be used to plant your foot down on where you stand.
if only you did for once not deleted some scene lol,how many times have you do it again?
niceee, cant wait to see it, oh and how is things going with the past events where we have kids, can you share how will you aproach it and if so will we be able to choose what gender are our kids or is random…
(i know you did say something about similar to gota but i want to know if you did already have something in mind)
Your majesties, forgiveness for the great delays. I’ve given up in setting an approximate time for updates. My magnum opus seem to have a mind of its own in its development. But fret not, progress, though not the greatest, is being made. - The Royal Brownie Sage
@Thunder-Man Hey Thunder! Thanks for showing interest in the royal legacy. I couldn’t quite say how many words are left until the next update, but I can definitely tell you there’s still quite a bit more sadly. I had hoped to be done before yesterday, but quality over quantity. Two main paths remain and the closing of another.
@anon4518890 For some reason inspirations strike me late at night, being sleep deprived however, seem to cause just as many accidents. I’ll have to do my best to be careful. Perhaps its time to save a copy of the game just in case… Now to answer your question and FAQ’s regarding the MC’s children…
The parent in the child: If the MC already has a kid, the decisions they made in the past as well as the parent raising them will determine their initial personality. If the MC has a kid during the current storyline how the MC raises the child will determine their personality when they hit adulthood. Being distant or close. Freedom vs safety. Creativity vs Traditions. Such and such.
Children’s Gender: I like to think of the game’s world as a living world like ours. And like our’s, the MC’s gender is up to fate. (or codes…) So not to create an infinite amount of possibilities. The MC can have as many children as they want but it’s only the first three that will focused on and will have a possible chance to inherit.
# of Children: I’m considering allowing the MC to have as many children as they want, but though the MC can use them for political gains, the focus will be on three children. If the MC has 3+ kids the game won’t tell why their the only liable choices to inherit. It may simply be that by law there may be no more than three living heirs. Due to the coding, depending on opportunity and chance, I can’t quite say how much the game will allow, but I don’t think I’ll cap it.
Defining the child: Personality is key. It’s one of the main reasons that only three children enter the mix. There’s a multitude of factors that help define who they are. What kind of kingdom did you build for your heir to be raised in? Parent’s relationships. Status (illegitimate?). Living situation (kidnapped and raised by a foreign nation?) As well as “how are they raised”.
Game/Story layout: The game has three main stages. Whether they’ll all be in one game or separated remains to be seen. Though the MC rules and ruling is the main point the secondary focus will shift with the stage. What I generally have in mind is…
-
The Establishment (Early life): The MC is planting themselves into the world, growing their kingdom into an empire, and seizing control and stability. Pretty much their reigning period. As well as getting to know potential suitors.
-
The Heir (Mid life): At last children are born to the MC. Both legitimate and illegitimate. And fostered. This stage revolves around raising the children, protecting them, ensuring the line of succession isn’t changed and related events.
-
The Inheritance (Late life): As the MC decides who will inherit their throne, their children fight to claim it while the MC fights off regicide/patricide and other outside influence to speed up the process. As well as the MC deciding what they’ll do with their children.
An ideological question, I don’t know if it works, but would the MC be a parent with a slave?
The few slaves that the MC will get to interact with won’t really be in a position for the MC to pursue them. If any at all. That said the MC can have relations with a servant and have their child, but since slavery is extremely limited in Imora, it wouldn’t be possible for the MC to have a slave child.
S-Servant child, preposterous, absurd? Where has tradition gone? Are there no morals in today’s world?! What’s next browny spitting unicorns?!
I would probably do it partly Regis style, make the one that seems illegitimate/unfavored the heir. Though I would make them think someone else and try to have them seek approval so if murder happens it’ll probably happen to the “favored” instead of me. Or simply co-kings since I wouldn’t care about it after my death.
Though any kid of mine will probably turn out like their mother…
So in the third act are we played by Peter O’Toole or Patrick Stewart for this version of The Lion in Winter?

Oh let it be so, let it be so! Now that’s a world to look forward to!
Favoring the unfavored one… interesting approach. I’d like to see how that ends up.
@chrisbat Ignorance aside, I’d say the latter.
