For the stat checks, sometimes perception is never raised or some may never get the gem of sight, so a better way for it would be to use companion relationships as the stat. For either poppy (if she survives the school escape) and you’re not mean to her (she’s likable), default should be 50 or so I think, for 2nd stone, if given to wife/husband automatic pull guaranteed, if other companions have default be 50, since most should be wise enough to give it to a comp they like, so relationship should be high.
Edit: Or do an and or stat check, if perception is high enough, pull guaranteed, if not it relies on relationship stat maybe to be kinda dangerous maybe make it 70-80. Would make sense relationship wise, if you like that person it would be understandable to “feel” their pain or danger via your link. If both are too low, puppet ending.
PS: In LH1, were any of the stats checks raised for various ability, skill or knowledge stats? Before I never paid attention and succeeded way back when. But then on other plays it seemed I failed some I used to pass. If nothing was increased, then maybe I just experimented too much and they were a few points too low those times?
No rebalance required, took several tries personally, four in fact before figuring out the path to a hero ending. The game shouldn’t be that easy anyway. The frustration of continuing failing just made a hero ending more satisfying, which also help to distract from the fact the hero ending is kind of boring and not dynamic enough. ( I wanted to see how my half vampire daughter is like as a child, whether she is good or evil, the unique dynamic of a vampire clan etc etc), Tin star did it slightly better with factoring your ending stats in to the ending.
Love the monster ending though, didn’t get that much excitement from anything for a long time.
People not understanding when or when not to allow this to happen.
Example: Similar with the summoner’s pull. Don’t rely on the warning and just pull them away on a successful stat check. Perhaps Perception again. Simply remove the option of making a bad choice altogether.

I’d put the check to be either perception or religion
Fighting the mirror demon with regular weapons also has warnings, but it is a health loss and not a complete fail. So I think I’ll leave them alone.

This fight is fine.
Most casual readers will hate this and after the third attempt throw the game down in frustration (and then bitch in a review). Just saying not all CoG/Hosted fans are min-maxers or meta-gamers.
People want to have a satisfying conclusion to their games, especially since this is the finale of a trilogy. Auto-Fail states should be very rare in standalone titles. In a trilogy I personally don’t think they should exist at all. I understand the reasoning for doing this, but the Puppet ending is way too easy to get.
Love the game but there’s a part that really bummed me out and felt really OOC.
And that’s Marrying Jess with a Shadi wedding. It comments that she doesn’t approve of your choice of religion. She so far in the game as been the only one okay with things. I could see Petra pitching a fit about it, but Jess?
No, don’t do that, I see this game as trial and error, stick to what you can do and lesrn from your mistakes, I got the puppet ending so many times but thing I got use to things and eventuall i got villain then hero.
I’d like to add on that that I think pretty much all of the endings would be better if they were more dynamic (though I’ve yet to see the wanderer or ghost endings), and the hero ending in particular, as that seems to be the default happy ending that many players will be shooting for. A lot of players identify pretty hard with their classes, so maybe maxed level classes or certain prestige classes shold be mentioned or change the scene a bit (like being a vampire lord with vampire minions did with the villain ending). Anything that impacts your heir should also probably be mentioned (soul burning powers, vampirism, etc.). And maybe a bit of flavor based on the “class” the orphan child takes even if they’re named protector.

Another think I’m wondering: On Amazon, Lost Heir 3 is listed as a free download. Do I get the entire game with that?
@Lucid
I know you said for wizards who didn’t pick a familiar immediately there would be rewards for the patient in LH3, but the only unique ones I came across were a monkey and a parrot, which hardly seem worthwhile, especially when even if you get 4 Levels in Wizard you still don’t get any unique or rewarding choices when choosing. Hell, in LH2 you can get a mini dragon or a spider if you go to the academy at the end of LH1.
Is there anything I just missed or was that simply it?
I have a question about the classes you can learn from your guardians. If you don’t learn their class the 1st chance you get, before you become an adventurer, are you locked out of ever getting it? Like I was experimenting to make a blade/unarmed warrior so I chose Sister Geri. However with her skills you lose too many sheep to make decent money. But then I tried a new way after I restarted. After my choices as a child in the castle and focused on blade w/sword, perception and pyshcial learning, I chose Geri and learned unarmed followed by becoming a guard. With all those bonuses I was looking at 50 strength/endurance which was awesome and let me stay awake to guard sheep, spot troll early, attack him with sword then hold him at bay with my sword until Thea started the fire to kill troll. Resulting in only losing 100 sheep total I think. Dealt with the kobold hole part and at the end got a massive bonus from the sheep guy.
But when we get back to town and it lets you choose another job, I don’t see monk listed. Which sucks, because then is there no way to learn the class later or raise the stat up at all? Making the unarmed stat I learned useless?
There’s only a possibility, I think, but it’s not explicitly stated. I romanced Jess and when I signed the decree to make Soulburning not inherently evil, it said something like, “If the princess shows Soulburning abilities then this decree will make it easier for the people to accept her”
