@Cataphrak No! He seemed enthused by it, at least from what I watched. I haven’t watched it all (I have difficulties hearing with the background music) and really for interactive fiction I’m more inclined to just play it myself then listen to someone else read it out for me. But as an author I’d be utterly fascinated to see what other people think of my games while playing. Likely I’d play it at x2 or x3 speed though.
Oh! Heh I just searched and there’s a few others on youtube. I think it’s great comparing everyone’s different reading styles.
Can’t view the code, but I was unable to reach 8 prowess, even though I had managed to get the magical sword. I did it by outsmarting the trial by stating that Dame Mildred was not actually in peril, but it didn’t bump my prowess up to 8 from 7.
Also, when you have an arming sword and sling, if you kill the Deathclaw by yourself using the sling, then the choices involving the cubs treat my character as though he has a quarter staff, even though my squire never got one.
Wait. Are we not able to get to 8 prowess then? I know we can get to 8 subterfuge and 8 will with the mentors for wizard and thief, but I thought I had one playthrough where I was able to get 8 prowess.
@FairyGodfeather
There are more let’s plays of other games as well. I found some for Heroes Rise, Choice of Robots, Choice of the Dragon, Mecha Ace and Choice of the Vampire. I think there should be a designated thread for them, what do you think about this?
@WulfyK I can’t. Only Jason and Dan get to sticky things and they’ve a rule about having as few things stickied as possible since they clutter everything up. BUT if the thread’s kept updated regularly with new let’s plays then it’ll be bumped up anyway, and of course anyone searching for it will find it.
Yeah; I don’t think we should sticky that; stickies are huge on the screen. If I could, I would unstick one of the three we already have stuck. (But but but I can’t unstick the WIP thread; or the Upcoming Releases thread; or the Welcome thread… gah)
@Lotus
I think that might be due to the fact that a tweaked one or two of the prowess gains in one of the early updates, since they weren’t being capped properly in Chapters 5 and 6.
Also, if anyone’s willing to add Kendrickstone to the list in the CoG TVTropes page, that’d be really cool.
I found a bug, during Isan’s rock mission, if you select the “give what’s up ahead a wide berth” option, then tell it to Isan, why do we say that we fought the bandits?
The gauntlets count as armor, right?
Normally, how much do mail gauntlets cost?
Edit:
What’s the MC’s age?
Edit 2:
Since Lord Berwick retreats to Torinhall regardless of choices, what happened to him?
Edit 3:
I found a bug:
You raise your weapon high as you charge forward for the killing stroke.
The wizard raises his staff to block your attack, but at the last moment, you duck under and slam shoulder-first into his frail body.
Did Milius have another staff? I destroyed his staff earlier when I fought to weaken him.
@NJG
1: I don’t have a name for it, actually.
2: Fixed on my version.
3: They don’t: they can’t cushion body blows, so they aren’t much use if you’re hit in the shoulder. They count as an item which might serve as an advantage in combat, but not armour.
4: Well-made mail gauntlets would cost anywhere from about 80 silver for cheap ones, to 5-10 gold for expensive ones. Of course, mail gauntlets wouldn’t be able to offer quite the protection of the plate ones you get from Jocelyn Ironhewer.
5: Early adulthood by high/late medieval standards, think 15-20 or so, left deliberately vague for the convenience of the player.
6: That depends on whether he was able to pay his debts or not.
7: Fixed that.
I found a bug, during Isan’s rock mission, when I killed the bandits stealthily, my subterfuge + morale was 6, so I saved Frida’s family but not Sir Edmund. Then, when I told it to William of Hallowford, he and the MC acted like Frida’s family was dead.
If it isn’t too much spoilery, how many sequels will you make about THoK?
What about “Kendrickverse”?
How many copper coins are equivalent to 1 silver coin?
I think I found a bug, when I refused to get a mentor, why can’t I participate in brawls in Chapter 5 and Chapter 6? My prowess is 5.
1: That should already be fixed in my version.
2: As many as I can get out of the setting.
3: That kind of constrains the scope of what I have in mind: I plan for sequels to take you outside of the Duchy, and eventually to Korilandis, or even the Nizam-i-Khazar (they have gunpowder!).
4: 100: they’re quite small.
5: Mostly for balance issues, different mentors give you different options.
@NJG
1: Probably because lore skills should cap out at 4. How did you get 5?
2: There aren’t any ranks. You’re assigned a title based on your tasks, but some jobs require more responsibility than others. Being an associate just means you’re trusted to manage one of William of Hallowford’s rackets for him.
3: Enchantment is a lost art: the Flowering Court could do it, nobody else can.
4: No, he’d be smart enough to hold it against Dame Mildred, provided he was able to ensure that you were telling the truth.
