The Bastard of Camelot Announcement on post 3193

Ok just came to address the update stuff, so sorry for it! I’m really used to making small updates and trying to fix all bugs before it but I did an impulsive update this time, but managed to fix it.

I’ll try to give a heads up next time I do it. Again, sorry.

Edit

Yes! Though, he is cautious of his use of fire magic, and never compulses dragons. Merlin has pushed him to practice, but he doesn’t like it.

Yeah

He may be flawed, but he loves Galahad.

Not explicitly forbidden, but very few people can practice magic, and most of them don’t become knights. Mordred is really special in that regard.

Nimue never tells her intentions, but she’s not as manipulative, and more neutral.

From what I see, Manipulative Bastard suits him. Merlin likes to do things from the shadows, pull the strings.

I tried to delete but didn’t know how

@Eyesofshadow I put in the first post but will put in the game too!

@Rebelgirl Just noticed the Kay is good father and seems good man kinda like Arthur might be. made me realize. Is Estor showing up ? I mean Arthur adoptive father for early childhood ?. Even if he isnt character on his own i think it might be interesting since he is closest to Grandfather.

Oh and Another, will the game distinguish between Mordred being asshole to people like Merlin and Lancelot and to people who didnt start it ? because i gurantee you many players are propably gonna be friendly and good but Merlin and Lancelot will propably cross the line. I dont mean distinguish as in make it imposible to have good ending as good ruler etc but in characters noticing to whom he is nasty.

Also fuck me i usually dont get hit by emotions even in very very minor form like i had At Arthur Scene but Holy you got me there

Found Grammar Error At Junia History lesson scene

Chronicles say he was a great tactician, a uniter of kingdoms who brought the warring countries together under the same crown. Your mother says he was a monster and a tyrant, who ravaged countries and brought them to their knees.

He could subdue the whole of the Continent, though; rebels are said to live in the woods of Camelot; the nomads of the North are free to roam; and, in the South of the Continent, a blooming kingdom rules.

Should propably be couldnt if he was unable to subdue whole continue.

Wow that Arthur scene got me.I really like it.Definitely didn’t expect it so soon.
All I will now say is basically really optional and the scene is good as it is.
But I wish we had the option to run into his arms and hug him.

The first time I played the scene I instinctly thought that’s what my insecure shy, gentle, sentimental and hopeful about Arthur Mordred would do.(or what I would do as a child wanting their father affection really)
All those years, thinking their father hated them.Yet still hoping for his love. And he wish to offer them a gift,a proof that he want to KNOW them,to be CLOSE to them. That he may LOVE them.I try to play my Mordred like I would likely react as a child. The second Arthur propose that gift,my Mordred would burst out crying and run into his arms.Bombarding him with questions. Why did you never write to me? Why did you refuse to be my father? Why did you abandon me? Why you didn’t love me father ? Did I do something wrong? I thought you hated me like the others! While crying in his arms and begging them to not abandon them again, and that they will be a good child and beg him to leave them a chance ect until their sobs slowly die down.
OK that made me sad.
Sooo I could also imagine a very friendly and positive about Arthur Mordred also jumping in his arms.Happier than ever that they were right to hope that they father couldn’t be such a bad person.Hopeful for the future, knowing that they father love them and that maybe things will finally change.
Or even a tearfully angry one that resent Arthur for abandoning them but still want his love.So they start to hit on his chest with their clenched fist and asking why he abandon them and curse him while sobbing uncontrollably.
Yeah don’t worry that’s too many options.
BUT I still really wish we could have an option to hug him…

I’m the opposite; minor moments tend to strike me the hardest maybe because the emotions are often times more subtle. Also because smaller moments can speak big volumes.

I’m with you though, that small moment with Arthur did strike a good blow. On one hand, I like the scene and the hopeful tone from both Modred and Arthur reaching out to each other. I can see my own Mordred keeping that little dragon gift close to him at all times and I’m currently taking that as a sign that Arthur, despite his mixed feelings, wants to try having some kind of connection with his only child (though I’m not counting out the idea that Arthur’s mixed feelings may lead to some mixed messages on occasion or there are still gonna be times when his hands are tied in a way that makes his ability to be there in some way for Mordred limited).

…On the other hand, I’m also like ‘whose gonna ruin Mordred’s day after this nice moment this time?’ (I mean, the Gawain scene was just as sweet, but then Mordred had to also deal with Galanhad not too long after)..

That sounds like what’s likely gonna happen with my Mordred; he’s a shy, friendly thing but it’s seems clear that those two in particular are gonna be the ones to really test that patience.

Though Lot himself is likely even more of a lost cause when it comes to developing something positive with Mordred; don’t see a relationship bar for him, so I can only assume that he’s pretty set in his way about being aloof and hateful toward Mordred.

A knight gotta use everything in their arsenal in battle, right? It’s only fair that Mordred do the same and give it their all. Can’t imagine most places have rules about the usages of magic of its not that common enough of a occurrence.

Though if they use it in a something like a knight contest, feel like the next time Modred comes across that same contest, there’s gonna be a new rule that explicitly state ‘no magic allowed’ (or very limited magic use allowed).

On a slightly more RO related though, seeing as Elaine has a particular fondness of dragons, does that mean Mordred might have a chance to take her in a magic carpet ride-I mean, share a joined ride with her on either your Dragon or hers (or even just going on a flight together like one would a stroll)? Or even taking the other ROs on a nice flight?

Personally, when that spineless idiot showed up arthur, I wanted to punch him in tha face lol . Think my favorite moment so far, is trying to burn that idiot…well grinning idiot .

Btw, how come Morgana doesn’t know that Lot? was it lot? hate you? do we get to trick him to show his true self? Maybe she skin him alive or something lol .

I just read the Athur encounter  it was beautiful.
Your writing hit the nail on the head . I got quiet emotional about it!

You really got the conflict of the situation in your writing.
I hope we can really get a good relationship with most of the cast ( even if it may in some cases just be to hurt the poor babies) .

Also, the pace you hit us with new updates. Your evil plan to make us fall for your story is really working out .

Hey it’s been updated again!
AAH that update though!
So little but so much!
I’m dying a bit inside right now. Not in a bad way though. But I’ve been hit to the feels. :two_hearts:
And I agree with Asterya1, we need a hug option

Like, when Arthur turns away, wouldn’t it be great if you had the option to trurn away too, call out and say something more, or run up to him and hug him from behind?

Ahem… okay so, typo report.

Gareth, about Galahad:

It may not happen that way if you’re not on friendly terms with him, but my Mordred is, very much so.
“I’ve heard his much like his father, Lancelot. And Lancelot doesn’t have the best opinion of you.”
I guess you meant “he’s much like his father”.

Also, I’d like to ask - will the first book reach Mordred’s adulthood, or is that planned for the second one?

Thank you so much for the frequent updates. Love this story!

I’m very excited about this one, can’t wait for more. And that last update… my feels  I really love how different Mordred’s reactions are depending on choice made in library scene (). I do agree with @Rani and @Konoi tho my cinnamon roll Mordred really wanted that hug! :hugs:

@CaesarCzech Ector will show up at Camelot.
Yes, I want to distinguish between Mordred that is mean to people who started it.
I’m so happy you like the Arthur scene!
Thanks for catching the errors!

@Rani I really like the idea of hugging Arthur, so I added it. Will be in the game when I update it later. Thank you for the feedback! I will consider the other options too. There will be another scene in this chapter where you can ask him more questions.

Who else, indeed?

That’s my mistake sorry!

They don’t have rules! That’s why Mordred, who will have to do some trials to become a knight of the round table, will be able to use magic. Lancelot will of course insists that’s cheating because no other knight has magic, but look, it’s a loophole.

Yes, when you meet her and keep her company before her arranged wedding with Gareth, which she breaks off.

@E_RedMark Morgana knows Lot hates you, but he doesn’t hit you or insult you. He just ignores you.

Since relationships are a big part of the story, interactions with the cast are also a big part, so plenty of opportunity to befriend them.

From chapter 6, Mordred has 18 years and about a year or more passes from there in the first book.

Ah, another question, about Elaine, because now I’m intrigued!
I wouldn’t romance her since I aim for the boys, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want for things to go well with other characters…

I read about the ROs when started playing, but then totally forgot.
Now that I met part of the cast, I must say I love Gareth, and I really wish for Mordred to have a good relationship with him. And as of now, well, they obviously like each other very much.
So yeah, I wouldn’t want to “steal” Elaine. Of course, that wouldn’t happen in my playthrough for many reasons, but I’m curious about why does she break the engagement…
Asking you for the reason would be too spoilerish - as in “I don’t actually want to know”. But rather than that, I’d love to know, or have a hint, as if Mordred would be able to make it work between Gareth and Elaine (well, if Gareth would want that, of course). I can very well picture my Mordred trying to help his brother about that.

And also… YAY FOR HUGS! :two_hearts:

@Konoi It’s actually out of Mordred’s control, and entirely Elaine’s choice! So, it’s not so much stealing.

Okay, cool then!
I’ve played games where you literally steal the MC’s brother’s bethroted, and I hate that!

My Mordred teared up; he’s a soft boy and was mostly just happy to see Arthur seemed to hold very little animosity toward him. It was the show of kindness that matter to my Mordred more than the years of absence.

Still not sure what my Mordred will see Arthur as. Gotta see more interaction between the two. But Accolon is a father figure to him while Lot is little more than a cold stranger who he knows wants nothing to do with him (guess that puts Arthur above him though).

I’m putting a bet on Merlin. Feel like he’s somewhere close by and he’s not above bullying a little kid.

I’m actually slightly shocked it’s possible to have some type of relationship with Lot.

I’m assuming you’re not talking about the Duke’s boy, but since burning was brought up I like having that moment be a learning stone for my Mordred to keep his magic in check. Will be an interesting experience when we encounter that kid again (and seeing what the burn looks like).

Though I gotta say, that kid’s family may as well been recklessly playing with figurative fire by teaching the boy to be hateful toward Morgana and Mordred. It’s like the Duke forgot that Morgana harbors magic and her child would likely inherit that power too. Not to mention children have less control over powers sometimes and they still left the boy with Mordred (who they pretty much taught to mistreat), even with that little first sign showing that leaving the kids with each other would be a bad idea. Kinda got what was coming to them, in my opinion.

And a knight must show what they can harness in arsenal; how else will they know what the potential knight is capable of if they restrict themselves from using all their skills just because another knight doesn’t have it? Not to mention its best to show that the magic is capable of.

My usually shy Mordred might give Lance a little smirk like ‘haha can’t deny loophole’. Won’t win him points with the older knight, but Lance’s expression might be a little funny.

This will be a interesting event to watch unfold.

Um Doesn’t it get mentioned that Lot slaps Mordred if they do the choice of talking back and standing up for themselves against the people treating them poorly?

@Konoi I hate that too!

@Okami-Nora

YEAH i forgot about that lol. Morgana certainly stops him if he does it in her sight, and raises a storm or damages something to teach him a lesson, that’s why you won’t see him doing this very much.

yeah I know, between you and the other poster, we gonna run out of kleenex, and flood this thread  I hope you guys with a sappy Mordered know how to swim! Lol

This is hands down one of my favorite WIPs right now, I’m so glad I found it! Your descriptions are fantastic and the amount of customization for Mordred is staggering (and very welcome); finally encountering Arthur definitely made me emotional, I’ll be eagerly awaiting your next updates!
