Tale of Labyrinth finished! BETA TESTERS NEEDED

Subject: [WIP] The Tale of Labyrinth: A Philosophical Saga

Hello everyone,

I’m excited to launch the public beta of my game, “The Tale of Labyrinth,” on the Choice of Games forums. This is the first installment of a larger series and represents my first completed project.

Game Description:

“The Tale of Labyrinth” is a narrative-driven game about finding your identity and purpose. Your choices, defined by the core themes of Catharsis, Damnation, Reality, and Dream, will shape the protagonist and the world around them.

The game is designed to be a single-path experience without a save system, mimicking the permanence of real-life decisions.

Beta Testing & Feedback:

I would be incredibly grateful for any and all feedback you can provide. Please let me know what you think of the plot, characters, pacing, and overall experience. Any comments, big or small, are welcome and will help me refine the game for its final release.

You can play the game at the following link:

Thank you for your time and help in making “The Tale of Labyrinth” the best it can be!

Best regards,

Alex

When in your opening post you should see a paper clip like symbol click on it and you should be able to post the link at least if i recall correctly lol.

Nice game! You may want to check the stat screen as I get an error when I click on it. And would like to also suggest separating huge walls of texts to make it easier to read. Lmao this so cute. I did not expect ending the game so suddenly when I chose to “walk” lol keep it up.

Hey there I had an issue so I made it private. Do you want to mail me so I can give you access? It has a lot of scenes afterwards and many things may be spoiled. Also there are no stats at all

Also I’ll try separating the scenes better thanks
If you want to test the repond here and I’ll give you access. Added all of scenes so kindly refrain from disclosing details about it if you beta test☺️

If you decide to beta test it I’ll give you access and let me know if you find any issues or anything to add☺️

I recommend using the forum private messaging system to distribute your private beta to volunteers. Not everyone is comfortable with revealing their email address.

I also not recommend putting out your email address in full, as bots are constantly harvesting email addresses online. Use something like abcde AT gmail DOT com.

If someone volunteers to test on this thread, click on their username or profile icon in their comment. A new window should appear with the “Message” button. Click this button to open up a private conversation with that user.

How can I do that? I’m new to this

Thanks a lot for your reply

I recommend editing the original top post in the thread with the current status of your game.

Hi @Cosmic_stardust. Does this game contain at least 30k words? It just seems very short unless there’s a lot of replayability in there. To be published with HG the minimum wordcount is 30k.

Also please review copyright laws. You cannot cut and paste quotes under copyright, which yours are, into your stories and publish them.

Comments on some typos:

Summary

They are survivors of a ship crush
They keep talking about the ship crush
*crash

They keep talking about the ship crush and the disappearence of another member. Their description seems to quite resemble you. Wait what? Who are You?I know it may sound philosophical cause in a way it is but it’s also pragmatic still like philosophy but you get my point right? Who are you dear pl..cave resident? Pictures emerge as fast as they leave. Fleeting as your mortal existence. A sea so wild as the dreams and hopes when you were younger. Then a beautiful ship seemingly out of a tale: Golden handcrafted with eloquent designs of flower designs. Utilizing sacred geometry and artistic ideals far beyond a single era or place. This ship was a part of you. You traveled so much on it. You repaired it and made it so technologically advanced that it could take a storm unlike all others. Sadly this storm was far too much. Last image in your mind was the destruction and then deafening darkness and stillness. It was raining lead that night. The ship couldn’t handle this type of rain. Yet some part of it was saved. The mechanical part. The rest was wrecked. You did so many repairs yet here it is a wreck . Imagine how would it look if it was made out of wood. So many repairs but isn’t it the same ship or just an application of the Ship of Theseus paradox? You can’t escape your mind and your shadow self. You start remembering everything. You were on your way to explore the world and see how far you will go. Here you are. A small stop to a secret society. If you survive what a story would that be? Enough thinking for this now. There are matters at hand that need your immediate reaction. These two were part of your crew. Would they remember their captain? Do you approach them or not?
*Too big a text wall for mobile phones, divide into paragraphs.

There is enough treachery, hatred violence absurdity in the average human being to supply any given army on any given day and the best at murder are those who preach against it and the best at hate are those who preach love and the best at war are those who preach peace those who preach god, need god those who preach peace do not have peace those who preach peace do not have love beware the preachers beware the knowers beware those, who are always reading books beware those who either detest poverty or are proud of it beware those who are quick to praise for they need praise in return beware those who are quick to censor they are afraid of what they do not know beware those who seek constant crowds for they are nothing alone beware the average man the average woman beware their love their love is average seeks average
*Run on sentence. Needs full stops and commas added. Needs a full stop at the end.

but there is genius in their hatred there is enough genius in their hatred to kill you to kill anybody

not wanting solitude not understanding solitude they will attempt to destroy anything that differs from their own

not being able to create art they will not understand art they will consider their failure as creators only as failure of the world

not being able to love fully they will believe your love incomplete

and then they will hate you and their hate will be perfect

like a shining diamond

like a knife

like a mountain

like a tiger

like a hemlock

their finest art.
Charles Bukowski The genius of the crowd. THE END

*These all need capital letters as they’re on new lines.

Edit- actually you need to delete the entire quote and replace it with something else. You can’t use it as it’s under copyright. Just putting the authors name there is not enough.

Hi there. It contains around 70.500 words. I am aware and the quotes are with their source like Völuspá or monty python ones

Will do it now!

I put the name and poem is that not enough? I can put the poetic collection as well if it helps?

No. You can’t use any of that (except perhaps Völuspá if it is the original text or an old translation, not someone else’s modern rewording of it). Full stop. It doesn’t matter if you quote the source, it is still breaking copyright laws. Anything created after about 1920-1929 (I thought it was 1923 but may be 1929 now- you can check if you’re on that borderline) needs to be removed from your game if you plan to publish it.

Edit: What program have you used to get your wordcount? I seemed to hit endings within a couple of choices. Are you sure it’s over 30k words total? That’s important as it will get rejected if it is not (but also needs a rewrite- see comments about the quotes as well). If you just plan to host for free somewhere you can make it as short as you like and might get away with the unauthorised use of other’s works (although you may still get a takedown notice. It’s unlikely they’ll bother to sue you if it’s for free), but HG is commercial so it 100% does matter if that is your plan for the game.
