EDIT: DOH. Just realized that Aki is a unisex name, which would work so much better for a game like this. Never mind me. I haven’t had my tea yet, and I love nerding out about japanese.

Have you ever seen Grave of the Fireflies? Because this reminds me somewhat of Grave of the Fireflies.

I only know a few simple sentences in Japanese but everything about their culture greatly interests me. It’s like I was born in the wrong country.
@Wyrmspawn After watching grave of the fireflies, I have to say, my game is not the same, that movie takes place during WWII in Japan, where mine takes place three generations after WWII in the modern technology era. But thanks for the recommendation, there are good ideas in here I can use for the back story. =)
@malinryden Actually, the mc’s full name is Akizawa, but most people will call her Aki for short.

well, aki’s grandma was a toddler in 1945, so her mom would be born around 1972, and Aki would be born in 1998, the story takes place when Aki is about 15 years old, so that would make it 2013.
btw, nothing is solid yet until the final release.

I’ll definitely give the demo a look whenever it comes out. How long have you been working on it? Or did this just pop into your head the other day?
@Razgriz I just started a few days ago, and spent most of the first couple days creating the cover photo art lol. Better to let you guys know now so you won’t expect like half the game on the first play test. ^^

The play test link is up in the first post of the thread, please keep in mind I’ve only had a couple days to work on this, so its bare bone basic, I didn’t check for spelling or grammar, there are limited choices and lack of details in the story, the choices are really just for testing purposes of what I can do with them in the future.
Click the “show stats” button if you need instructions on training different abilities.
P.S: If your game crashes or restarts from the beginning, it means I’m in the middle of updating some files. So just try again after a few seconds.

@CJW, the more I work on the game, the more I realize it probably won’t be an adult / 18+ game. It may just have a bit more violence than my Silent Gear title, which only got a 12+ for rating. So I’m going to remove it for now until further development if thats ok 
Is the protagonist gender locked or is it possible to play as a male?
And I know it’s cliched but I do hope she picks up a Masamune katana and chops through some bad guys at some point XD

@Razgriz @HitenMitsurugi, well, since you guys want Aki to carry a sword so bad, I’ll put it in the story. xD
The draft story will now be changed: after some dialogues, Aki learns from Kenshin about an old samurai master living in the mountains named Saigo. Kenshin has an accident while building his barn and Aki saves him with her psi powers, but this attracted attention, soon the corporate men returns and kills both Leiko and Kenshin. With the help of her psi powers, Aki barely escapes, she’s still too weak to take on the corporation. With no where else to go, Aki decides to visit the old samurai master Saigo. First, Saigo refuse to take Aki in, but Aki kneels at the front gate for a whole day through rain. Reluctantly, Saigo accepts her as student. Over time, Aki discovers Saigo has a grand son named Kenji, who is 2 years older than Aki and also possess psionic abilities, but Kenji was captured by the corporation, with both of his parents murdered in the process. Fuelled by hatred, the old samurai master is training Aki for revenge. When the corporation found out about this, they mind controlled Kenji and sent him back to kill both Aki and his grandfather. Unable to kill his own grandson, Saigo willingly dies in the hands of Kenji. But through a difficult psionic battle, Aki is able to defeat him, and free him from the mind control. Kenji gives the old master’s ultimate sword to Aki, and they both leave to face the corporation together.
What do you guys think ? That could be the first chapter, which hasn’t touch on any of the main storyline yet. Also, here’s some more eye candy for you:
