Thanks, I will try to finish the Jam story adding all the paths I couldn’t do due to the lack of time.
I don’t think I’ll be able to complete chapter one this month. I’ve decided to take a break from The Body Snatcher for an indeterminable period of time due to my legs acting up.
In other news, working on this game, no matter how small, has actually helped get me out of a major writing slump and I’ve been writing and creating like crazy, which I haven’t done in years. Eh, you win some, you lose some; I’m not going to worry about this. I will finish The Body Snatcher but it’s just not in my stars right now.
I started this month at a blistering pace (at least for me lol, I see some authors putting out like 5000 words daily) But I was writing on average 2000 words a night and I was really enjoying it. But then the past few nights I load up my work and the just kind of sit there, not knowing where to go. Total words written since November 1: 12,000. Total words since last Tuesday: 0
avg 2k word+code a week here, woot… ![]()
Yesterday done mostly busy-work abstracting UI text into localization strings to prepare for eventual “easier” (not really) localization. Since I can at least translate the text to one other language, and it somehow feels like something cool to look forward to (or maybe it’s another procrastination project
). Anything positive to look forward to will help. ![]()
It might just be me, but this week feels like it’s dragged out even with my ability to completely lose track of time. Working overtime is never fun, but I guess I have something to blame for my lack of energy. I hope that I’ll barely be able to feel tomorrow at all so that I can sit down and write for once.
I achieve to start writing again. I don’t know how much I will finish writing, but it will be a victory. Anything will be better than zero
Thanks. I also researched some reviews about my question https://differencebtwn.com/difference-between-abstract-vs-introduction
Welp.
My prologue is getting more complicated. Hahaha… What else is new?
Anyways, I’m stuck brainstorming possible uber/taxi driver encounters. If anyone wants to help me brainstorm some scenarios, I’d appreciate it!
Don’t you just love it when you think something is a good idea then you start coding and then you realize that maybe you’re idea wasn’t such a good idea?
Yeah I’m scrapping the idea of a randomized taxi encounter - for now - since a lot of other variables are at play. Though I am happy with the little bit of research I did concerning Michigan’s conceal and carry laws while under the influence.
Spoilers! I will be offering the reader the choice to commit a misdemeanor and possibly felony, so that should be interesting. In the greater scheme and because of how the prologue is set up in relation to the rest of the story, I’m paying this much attention to detail to make this world seem more life-like with its laws reflecting our own.
I achieve to write almost 2k in two days. Even if I am busy with the Jam last steps. So I am really happy. I just hope someday be good enough to reach a publish status. I am working really hard into it every day.
I’m chugging along slowly, I did 450 words today and I’ll soon be onto the next scene. Bit by bit!
I had a big burst of energy recently and I managed to convert up to 80% of my script to the new syntax. Now I just have to finish it and start polishing.
Definitely did not think I’d get to this point.
Just thought some of you guys might find it useful.
Finally able to write something for long time.
So far I’ve only got 2000+ words for the past two weeks.
Wish you all good luck on your day.

Not much narrative writing, but a lot of research/note taking writing.
This time on a combination of how stand your ground, castle doctrine, conceal and carry, and under the influence would intersect in a court room/the law.
I’ve always liked studying law so this is pretty fun.
And what’s more I don’t feel bad for putting all this effort into making my story realistic albeit in this very small way.
Edit:
Forgot to mention I finally have a title that I’m satisfied with. I came across a document for forensic terms and loved the term Cold Hit. It’s probably never actually gonna be seen in the actual story but it’s nice to have that little wrap up.
Update time – week 2:
This week has been a productive week. I completed 1/2 of my November’s goal and started working on the second 1/2.
I am very happy how the first encounters of the Interlude turned out, although I had seriously underestimated how long this interlude would be, word-count is triple what I thought it would be originally.
Originally, my goal for November, was to be: Writing of the transition between Chapter One and Two.
My stretch goal is still to write chapter two for this project, but because I increased the original November goal’s difficulty, I find it farther away than I did seven and fourteen days ago.
Just don’t show your search history to law enforcement anytime soon

I hope everyone’s week is going well.

Haha. Here’s a mug to all of us!
Mug

One of my joy of being a CS writer is spending 5 hours writing a 2k words scene for a RO that a reader will probably read in 2 minutes just to say “Ugh! it felt rushed.”
The taste/ability gap is feeling extremely wide today…
October was pretty much a total loss due to surprise work shenanigans. This month, I’m just trying to get back in the swing of things.
I’m feeling pretty salty today because it just occurred to me that the code I wrote to randomize NPC genders is horribly, stupidly flawed.
🐛
The code is supposed to fairly randomize the genders of the 4 NPCs in such a way that 2 of the NPCs are male and 2 of the NPCs are female.
*title Bad Code
*create implicit_control_flow true
*create alfa_gender 0
*create bravo_gender 0
*create charlie_gender 0
*create delta_gender 0
*rand alfa_gender 1 2
*rand bravo_gender 1 2
*if (alfa_gender = bravo_gender)
*if (alfa_gender = 1)
*set charlie_gender 2
*set delta_gender 2
*else
*set charlie_gender 1
*set delta_gender 1
*else
*rand charlie_gender 1 2
*if (charlie_gender = 1)
*set delta_gender 2
*else
*set delta_gender 1
${alfa_gender} ${bravo_gender} ${charlie_gender} ${delta_gender}
*finish
Other than that, November is going O.K. so far.
November has been going on well for me. Already around the 30k mark, which I’m very proud of, since it’s the most I’ve written in a montth. But I’m very tired, I would love to write this much every month, but I don’t think I would be able to handle it very well. No wonder nanowrimo is only once a year.
I’ve been having some issues writing one of my characters. His scenes really stress me out, I feel like I don’t know where I’m even going with his story. All the others come very easily to me, except his, at the same time, I think it makes sense because he doesn’t really know what his goals are either. I may need to really sit down and reconsider his personality and arc.
Another thing I’ve been doing is trying my hand at twine. It did not go well. Sugarcube is terrifying, I’ll still give it a try but will probably remain loyal to CS.
