Nanowrimo

No idea i even dont use nanowrimo site i use the count feature in a text editor

@Lucid I had thought about this myself. Will look into it this weekend and will add something to my website if I find anything.

@Lucid

I’ve got an app on my tablet which lets you set a word count target and its suppose to encourage you to write.

edit:

It’s on android and its called Write-o-Meter

I think it’s the sharing and comparing that I liked. :slight_smile: Thanks for the suggestions though. A web-based solution sounds interesting.

As much as I like having statistical data, I’ve been lazy in keeping track of my daily word count lately. :frowning:
It becomes a bit bothersome when you have several separate scenes of text. The two word counters that I use in Notepad++ come up with two very different results, as well, so I’m not sure how reliable either one is. :-/

I looked around the web and found a couple of nice programs, but not exactly what I wanted.

So I going to take some time and build one for us. While I can do html in my sleep. Javascript and Cgi I am not so quick at. If you have skills and want to help out, Please do. :slight_smile:

I plan on something similar to the NaNo site.

*edit
Features I think we need:
Member login
What is your montly goal
Progress bar
Daily graph
Monthly graph
Yearly graph

Anything else that should be on there?

WIP name? Link to personal/fan site or demo or both?

I loved the push over the last 4 weeks. I’m not sure if continuing it is feasible, but it’s a thought.

What about other stages? This is great for the rough draft, but that’s just the start.

An edit counter? Perhaps by words which relates to percent? Not great, since there’s lots of back tracking.

Alpha Testing? Probably nothing good there besides just a statement. Beta? Again, just a statement.

Just some thoughts.

@Lucid these are very good ideas. May take some doing. But well worth it.

*edit Maybe a dropdown box
WIP
Beta
Alpha

I do not see a real function for it other than to declare the stage you are in

Im haven’t pc so i probably couldnt know how introduced half of data. But i would happy to be there help people and maybe someone want beta my nano

So I think 4 spots for links
Demo
Thread
Website
Fan site

Then
You can find me at
Twitter account
Facebook account
Goole + account

Not sure how ww would handle a edit counter.

@MaraJade
I will definitely try my best to make sure this will work on your phone. :slight_smile:

@lordirisdas You are all a truck gentleman >:D<

@MaraJade 'D

@CJW was kind enough to point out I will need to learn php as well. So this is going to be a fairly long project to build. I don’t mind just please do not expect something over night. I will post updates and ask for a whole lot of feedback. :slight_smile:

You have until the end of November. :wink:

I don’t even know if it’s a good idea. I just really like the motivation it’s given me. This thread has been great and we can keep using it, since we can state our goals and share our success. It’s like a writing support group. :slight_smile:

@Lucid I agree this a great thread to be motivated on. I just have been thinking on this for a time and think it would be a nice tool to add. Its not requires and can be supplemented else where by apps and such.

And as long as its Nov. 2015 then no problem. Lol

Now what’s so special about this NanoWrimo validator, is it still online (how do I look at it)? I’m certain that if you guys look hard enough you’ll find something just as good and save yourselves a painful amount of effort trying to create something.

Whatever happens I’m sure it’ll all turn out awesome. And btw Happy Thanksgiving!!!

@CJW
It is simple to use just copy paste and it gives you your count then breaks it down into bar graphs. The only problem is it only runs durning the month of Nov. Then they shut that feature off. Plus this would be more tailored towarsds cs. :slight_smile:

@Lucid yeah is great, i never believe i could have 23,000 words written in english in one month. So my goal will be do 25,000 each month to keep improve and this way next year i could reach 50,000. More i practice most confidence i feel. Also is funny talk with other writers recive support etc. So for me november would last until next november :))

@Scrivener
You too :smiley:
