Nanowrimo

@Random Get it finished. If it’s dull you can spice it up later. You’re your own worst critic though I bet, we writers generally are.

Once I’ve finished working on my own game I’ll give it a look, see if I can come up with any suggestions for improving it. For now though just get it done. Even if it’s the most boring thing ever there’s always room for improvement. And I bet it isn’t, your thread’s full of comments and how many say “this game is so boring?”

Finish it. Push through to the end. You’ve done an amazing job so far.

@Random
When you write that long and that hard self doubt tends to rear its ugly head. You have to keep in mind no one writes a masterpiece in one shot.

I have to say I am impressed with the quality of your work considering the sheer volume of your word count.

We need to remember to keep our self editor chained in that small little box until we have finished.

Even when you’ve finish it, it is always a good idea to set the project aside when you completed it. Give it a little time to cool down so as to have a fresh perspective when you’re ready to start editing.

you should be very proud of what you have accomplished in such a short time.

@Random
If it makes you feel any better, whatever you’ve written is probably a lot better than what I’ve written. But just get it done, put it out there, and it’ll probably appeal to somebody.

Of course, if it’s no longer fun for you to write, or you feel like there’s nothing to gain from finishing it, then forcing yourself to continue will just make you resent your project more and more until you never want to look at it again. Best to take a short hiatus from it before you get to that point and go back to it later to see how you feel about it.

Two days of 0 :frowning: will not reach my 100k. But I have Sat. to write so will see what my total is by the end. Hope your all writing strong up to the end. :smiley:

Wow @Lordirishdas you’ve done brilliant to get as far as you did. You’ve already beat Nanowrimo now you’re just showing off. :slight_smile:

Yeah looks like I won’t get finished my second project either. I had some stressful bad news today which has put me off doing anything. Which is stupid since actually writing a game and finishing it would get me out of the stupid hole of this bad news.

I don’t believe i reach my 30,000 but im over 20,000 know i hope reach 25,000 a halfway Nanowrimo, so i would make 50,000 before January, that’s is my goal and i believe this proyect could be arround 100,000 easily so 4 nanowrimo at least … It would still november until April :)) Maybe im slow but no one win me in stubborness , because always is november in my heart Nanowrimo all year.

@FairyGodfeather no I would be showing off if I hit 130k :smiley: as it stands I may only break 80k on the 30th.

@MaraJade that ia awsome. Yes it is official, until MaraJade decliars it officially. We are stuck in November. :wink:

Well if people make a target for a month and work why not for more? Writing is a good thing maybe no so many hours but writing 25,000 each month it could be good for anyone. Imagine how many game proyects or novels done if we write a 25,000 words a month. Tons more off hosted games or free games here i would never try sudmit my work dont reached the minimum quality for that but i still have the future link for people play it freely and help me improve to one day have enough level.

Hmm… Is it too late to start? :stuck_out_tongue:

For the Official NaNo challenge you have four days left. For use I think @MaraJade is correct we should aim for 25k a month. So join right in @Redgrave. Still 4 days left then the numbers will reset. :slight_smile:

Yes @Redgrave join me in my crusade to maintain the Nanowrimo spirit all year. OUR OBJETIVE WRITE 25,000 WORDS MONTH.
It´s low paced to people with work but still being a objetive to keep people focused. Maybe if people joing it this could end create short stories 25,000 each for one author about same theme could it be even comercial! .
Or just people continue their stories. Anyway i would keep my Nanowrimo spirit all year with 25,000 each month, and hope someone joing me to blosom this forum with original stories wip, games…

So a third day of 0 :frowning: Ready to write but my head is not being agreeable tonight. Take care all.

I lost the taste for writing for a while. This happens sometimes, when I have a big project like this. I’ll be all full steam ahead! And then stop for months on end. Ah well there’s always cabin fever December to start back up again.

@FairyGodfeather
Finishing a project is a lot to expect in only one month, more so than just reaching a specified word count. You’ve still accomplished quite a bit, in any case, and that’s less work that you’ll have to do in the future.
Don’t let the the bad news holes get the better of you. I wish you the best of luck in navigating through the situation, though.

@Scrivener
Do what you feel works best for you. At least you got started on something! :smiley:

@MaraJade
I’ll try to do 50k every other month for the next year, so we’ll have the same overall pace. :))

I’m trying my best to get CTG functional for an open beta, but when I find commands like *fake_resort scattered through the first draft… Ugh. I have a lot of work to do. My brain evidently goes all stupid in speed mode. #-o

Still working on those TODOs and expanding the paths to rack up that word count. Validated at 70k yesterday for my official NaNo win. Higher than how I’ve been counting it, but meh. I’ll trust whatever their validator’s method is.

Well, I’d love to join, but I have way too much homework :frowning:

Maybe next year I can try!

@Redgrave Well you could put your word limit like 15,000 or 10,000 is only a number to keep us motivated to write not a requirement.
@CS_Closet a fake_resort thats great error. :wink: I haven’t that because im slow more in english and i check code each 800 900 words and i fixed it until all work.
Your little code problems are normal due you wrote a lot , so you are awesome. Im like the turtle little by little.

CS_Closet
I think I will set my goal 30k. Writing 50K is very doable, yet writing that fast leaves a lot of problems to fix later for me. :slight_smile:

@MaraJade I’d love to, but I literally have too much homework ~X(
And on top of that I have to do things like… socialising *shudders*

Seriously, though, I’m unable to this year, but I’d love to next year :slight_smile:

63309 for November. I love the motivation of putting a few words on each day.

Anyone know of a site to track bar graph word counts easily like NaNo for after November?
