I love NaNoWriMo. It’s a lot like our Writer’s Support thread that we’ve been doing monthly.
Once again, I am out of sync. It would be nice if I were at the beginning of a game/story, or at least in the first draft phase, but I’m not. Instead, I’m in the editing and alpha-testing phase, with only a small amount of first-draft writing to complete. This has happened a few times now.
Good luck to you and everyone else who is taking part in NaNoWriMo this year!
I don’t think I will participate this year. I don’t feel like I have any idea worthy of the effort. I can end my Game Jam entry but that put me in the situation of what to do with the finished game… It is scary… Send it to publish queue? Am I even to that point in a game about 40k 50k it is already more than 20k?
It’s scary even thinking about it.
I am trying it out this year! I don’t have a specific wordcount goal but am going to aim to write every day through the month.
That is an awesome goal, Hannah!
I’ve made an account… Will see if that amounts to anything
Sincerely, I don’t like the NaNoWriMo page I do it on my own
I probably shouldn’t jump into this right after finishing the game jam game, but I’m really tempted to do so anyway. Just with a reduced total wordcount goal, since writing a choicescript game has a lot lower word-per-minute count than novel writing. 20000 words sounds about right.
I’m only going to echo what has already been said. I’m going to sit on the sidelines this year. I already have to help someone else with their own story.
I’m participating. Whether I actually manage to get to my goal is another matter entirely
I’m doing classic NaNo, this year. Starting a first draft of a brand-new novel that I’ve been frantically outlining since last spring. I’m pretty excited about it.
Here I am again, starting to write about this when I said I wouldn’t. I am terrible. I will use this month to finish and really polish my Jam game. It won’t be focusing on quantity; so I won’t reach the 50k, but it will be fun.
I’m using Nano this year to write episode six of season two of unnatural so planning on adding at least another 50,000 words. Then can have December for a full beta test followed by hopefully a release in the new year
@poison_mara You are not terrible there is never anything wrong with a desire to write, a desire to improve and a desire to learn. Keep up the work and it will pay off
This is my first time joining and instead of 50,000 words I lowered it to 20,000. I dont want to set myself to do big challenges but then end up failing it and being disappointed to myself.
20k is a lot. So is a worthy goal.
Ah, damn! Totally forgot about it.
Am I gonna do it this year? I should.
I’ll twist it into writing a DnD campaign setting.

I see a cat and I automatically click on lol
I like the idea of The Clacking Prince.
I know this will sound as “noob question”, but could you please explain what NaNoWriMo is? Thank you very much
It means National November Writing Month
The official thing is writing 50k in a month. But each one can do their objectives. There have a big page and support and even here in Europe are lots of Nanowrimo acts
