Monsters of New Haven High - last update 4/02

Just a suggestion (well obviously, I can’t edit the actual game) y- ( Yet :smirk:) You should make and early end for a cocky Goblin, because the’ve evolved to keep to themselves so I like a really popular arrogant Goblin to die. Of course, preceded by the option
‘You see a werewolf running towards you, what do you do?’
Run into a group of people (best option, since [I think] Goblins aren’t really suited for confrontation)
Use your [If Made Burglar Alarm] Burglar Alarm to attract attention and make the werewolf leave]
Or FIGHT! [Where you die. Instantly. Instantaneously. ]

Did it suddenly become harder to trigger Wendy’s fourth option during lunch ?

Hm, for the most part options have been edited to make them easier to select, not harder. I’ll look into it and make sure that part’s working as intended.

According to the code, it actually seems impossible to sit with Wendy at her table, given that you need 35 “Wendigo_like” to do so, and the current maximum at that point is 30 (15+max 10 from gym+5 for asking her if you can sit with her).

@Sashira this is how awesome your story is;

Error (429)This account’s public links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled!

You got a hit on your hands…^.^

First time I have ever seen that happen at Drop Box and I’ve been here for almost 3 years o.0

Whoa, I had no idea that was possible. I’ll write Dropbox support and see if they can help. Since it’s a Sunday night (when a lot of places do updates) it’s possible they broke something on their end.

If it’s still messed up tomorrow, I’ll try another workaround. !@#$ Dropbox.

Somebody’s Album just went Platinum.

Hello,
I have played through your story a couple times and I have greatly enjoyed reading it so far. I am curious what is going to happen next and cannot wait to read more.

I am still writing out a critique/suggestion/bug list but I did have a request/idea. I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind adding to the list of monsters a Kelpie? I think that would be a very interesting creature to play as. If you feel that would take too much time then I understand, since I am working on my own piece and I know how long it takes to write with ChoiceScript.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Well Sashira, I honestly feel like I should give this another chance. I didn’t complete my last playthrough but I should at least see if the story will be different than what I expected.

…or not. Maybe when Dropbox is back.

Between kelpies, mermaids, fairies, kitsune, and witches, I now have no idea which one I would rather want as the sixth monster. The situation is getting out of hand.

Update:
The link can be accessed again. I was able to remove the ban on my public links immediately, since it was my first time running into it. I upgraded to Dropbox Pro, which allows for ten times higher bandwidth on public links; hopefully that will keep this from happening again.

Well, I did give the school a swimming pool to help accommodate future aquatic monsters, so it’s possible. When I’m ready to start designing more monster types, I’ll be reaching out to everyone for input on what they’d like to see first.

Whether or not you end up liking it, I appreciate feedback. If anyone doesn’t want to post their notes here, they’re welcome to PM me.

Ok, so after the third shot (Internet cut out during second) I saw a side that made me think this has potential. Putting aside the succubus qualms mentioned awhile ago, I saw it in a new light this playthrough due to my fight scene with Artemis. Potential monster hunter on our hands? and the potential for werewolf pack politics to play a part. Honestly though, how many monsters will be included in the final lineup? Also, before I honestly thought of this more of a high school-ish dating sim before, but seeing this time around that the story had potential to go way deeper, I was actually looking forward to more.

So would an angel count as a monster? We’ve already got demons… Oh and is there any rivalry between vampires and werewolves in this setting? Or any other pairing?

Vampires and werewolves in this game have no beef or noticeable dislike of each other. The most the other monsters seem ti have is an acknowledgement if each ithers existence.

Well, I do recall one option with Tyler being, “It’s nice to have a friend not involved in monster politics.” So there may be more there then a simple acknowledgement of existence

Good point I can believe some monsters would have centralized governments and such (except the wendigo and succubus) but for werewolves its more pack to pack and less thousands of citizens. Ialso doubt the vampire in this game did anything to piss of the werewolf pack.
Another point is that goblins are peaceful people and the succubus only really seam to care about food and being loved. (Thats another question how does the male vamp MC and the succubus do it does the succubus have blood?)

When the game is released? Five. After that? Depends on how much interest there is in more paths, and how sales go. As of now I plan to do at least seven, including the monsters introduced after the game is released.

Um… I have no idea. Ask a Christian. I’m not planning to include one. And please, no debates about how I’ve already gone religious with demons, I can write a demon without them having to directly acknowledge their roots or start interpreting beliefs too freely.

Later in the week there will be more tension between species, so you’ll get a glimpse of how they work things out. Inter-species politics aren’t the main focus of this game, though.

Goblins have had a stable society for as long as anyone can remember. They never get involved in disputes. Unofficially, if you have a goblin friend, they might help with mediation. Demons, on the other hand, can get nasty when they’re in close proximity. They mainly deal with their territorial issues by avoiding each other; if they get in each other’s way, one will probably be destroyed.

When demons manifest physically, they have bodies. That includes blood. Is it nutritious, and are there side effects to non-human blood? I’ll let you find that out. Interspecies relationships are rare enough that it’s not common knowledge.

does the vamp you’re using have blood of their own or are they kept alive by an unnatural force? Without the blood I’m pretty sure sexual relations would be impossible. (rigor mortis aside, still wouldn’t be fertile) Also, I think that angels wouldn’t be an addition that should be included. They are the servants of God, unlike demons, they don’t have the time to go through High School again. As for defining them as a monster, as a Christian I’d vote know, but I do think some Pagan branches that have acknowledged their existence would call them so, even if I strongly disagree.

I know people here talk about interspecies relationships, but is there any same species relationships? I noticed about the werewolf community and I think you can crush on someone. And the Goblin community is pretty big. So is it possible for there to be same species relationships?

Vampires need to feed regularly or they die. So they do have blood in their bodies, it just wasn’t theirs to begin with. There’s no rigor mortis to contend with because at the moment of death they ceased to be human, so the normal processes never kicked in (also, rigor wears off or can be massaged out of the muscles; at least, so say my intro to thanatology texts.) Sexual relations are possible for them as long as they’ve fed enough to power their bodily functions. (Their hearts don’t beat, so blood is distributed to where it’s needed and drained for its energy through supernatural processes; vampires do breathe, but it’s out of habit.)

I agree, these reasons are exactly why I will not be writing an angel. I think I can do justice to a wendigo, given enough research, but to make an angel go to high school would require a drastic rewrite of what they are and how they function. Even a nephilim is kind of pushing it, though they’re a little more solidly “Earth-dwelling beings referred to in legend.”

Spoilers ahead. You are the only vampire your age in town, and older vampires get kind of… intense. So no, you will not be able to date Edgar the Dark Lord. Likewise, the local goblin community is short on goblins your age (okay, fine, pun intended.) The wendigo is the only one in town and one of only a few in the country, so their chances are slim unless they start seeking out-of-towners. Demons fight like cats in a sack - they are NOT designed to seek each other out as mates. Werewolves? Yes, there’s a pretty big pack in New Haven, so you have some options. They might not all go for you, but there could be someone you’ll hit it off with.
