I’m sort of confused about how anything gets to be called “Old (Town)”. Like, the opposite of New York is not Old York, and so on. It strikes me as being similar to residents of the early 20th century calling their war “World War I” when they didn’t know there was going to be a II.
Other than that, no, the town is pretty old. Like the New Haven @Elfwine mentioned.
…Yeah I think that could be too obvious. A lot of names in my game may already by too obvious. This is why I have everything written as ${Town}, ${Wendigo_Name}, etc., in case I change my mind later.
I think for the most part its named retroactively when some up jumped youngins get their garters in a twist and make a newer better version of their hometown. (If Bender knows anything newer/better versions of things often involve blackjack and hookers)
You mean the end of the demo? Yea, I’ve played every character and after you go to sleep and hear the creepy voice saying “You’re concentrating on the wrong thing. Pay attention!” it says something about an error. I just always assumed that meant the demo was over
Old is typically used in town names when another settlement of the same name occurs in the same country, and the first town is abandoned. Doesn’t really happen anymore but in medieval times while settlements could be wiped out, or forced to move due to natural disasters. An example of this is the Black Death. After so many deaths happened then, people once again gathered in the more prosperous settlements - they couldn’t do this before because of lack of land available to farm. Thus they returned to their original homes, in what became known as the old town.
You could make it in New Jersey, it would explain the monsters…
In seriousness how about New Orleans or another location usually showed to be supernatural in movies.
So will other monsters (or Taylor) try to reach out to you if you try to isolate yourself, or do you have to make the first move? I feel like it would be out of character for either my vampire and (especially) my wendigo to try and make friends, so unless the other person initiates the friendship and/or romance both of them will probably die alone
If you don’t want to be friends with Taylor, it will take awhile for her/him to get the message. So yes, an isolated character will still have Taylor unless they work to drive her/him off. (Btw, thinking of making “Outcast” into “Loner”, the reverse of “Popular” can have its own benefits.)
The other monsters have their own lives, and either have their own friends or are antisocial themselves. So, to get to know them, you will have to talk to them and express interest in knowing them and whatnot.
…so Taylor’s one of those? The people who act way to friendly and then make you feel like the devil when you tell them you find them obnoxious as all get out.
I’m almost guaranteed to feel like an asshole when telling them to leave me alone now, aren’t I?
That’s my worry. So far I like Taylor and he/she hasn’t done anything to irritate me. But, if they get too invasive ESPECIALLY with my Wendigo who’s freakishly shy, I don’t see it ending well.
All in all, for me at least, the jury’s still out on Taylor, it depends on what direction Sashira takes the character in.
Yes if she becomes too much of a problem we can always turn her into the Vampire’s Thrall, the Succubus/Incubus mind controlled lover, and or the werewolf/wendigo’s lunch.
Had an idea. Maybe when talking to Taylor during lunch, he asks you about other monsters? Does Taylor know about other monsters in the school?
Also, can’t recall if it was addressed, but can Wendigo’s stomach seasoning? Because only being able to eat one thing would be made a lot better with some burning rooster juice.
Finally got a chance to try this out a few times. My favorite story-lines so far are Vampire, Demon, and then Werewolf. Vampire is way ahead because I feel like there’s a lot of room for growth there. Dig the nods in naming the Vampire too.
It’s clear you’ve taken a lot of pains to ensure a broad audience can connect with the MC but each scene is still well-tailored to the reader’s choices. Impressive work there. The build-up is slow but still interesting because of all the characters to get to know. I’m excited to see where things go from here!
