For whatever reason, there’s an unusual concentration of monsters in the area this takes place in.
I can’t find that error. How odd.
So far this is incredibly well done. It’s one of the few games on this website (actually, the ONLY game on this website) that I actually intend to play all of the backgrounds. They’re all so diverse and have their own storylines and interactions with characters. So far what has drawn me in the most is the huge amount of difference between each origin; I recommend continuing to focus on that as the story progresses.
I’ve been noticing that grades have been brought up a lot in the story. I know there’s an “academics” stat but it doesn’t really seem to tell how far along you are. I think instead of having it be numbers, make it your actual letter grade so you know exactly where you are education wise.
Also on the grades thing, one of my characters has the personality where she would suck at most classes but be great at art, yet it still acts like I’m a complete drop-out in that class. I think you should have each class have it’s own stat instead of lumping “academics” together.
And of course, you probably want to finish up those scenes on day one that aren’t made yet before thinking about moving on to the other days. Otherwise you might forget about them and have those like that in the finished game (happens to me all the time. Well, not for this specifically since I’m not cool enough to make games, but with other projects).
There’s a small weird thing with the introduction of Hunter/Artemis. Just one line, but it’s pretty odd. If you say “You must be really sad to have to bully others” it said that she was seemed bewildered at getting a compliment. Small thing but really stuck out to me.
So far I am loving this and I am definitely going to follow it. Great personalities, great drama, great humor, and outstanding level of diversity with the origins. I am really looking forward to this.
Monsters hate math apparently…
If Hunter/Artemis brings a math book to a fight, I should run right?
Run VERY far away. After all, math is the source of all evil in the world.
I can google the quadric equation… so im smart
Math is awesome; you’re all crazy.
Sorry but theres an error i can’t find in this game? any help?
Blasphemer! Heretic! (Semi)ironically, I’m actually quite good at math, I just dislike it.
…I’d make a bad Goblin.
Where does this take place again? I’m sure it’s been answered before but all I remember is the abnormal concentration of monsters fact not the actual location.
They do have their own grades; academics is more like “how much you care about studying and how good at it you are.” Past Day 1, class performance will matter more than academics (though one may affect the other.)
The demon is the one who is treated like a dropout, correct? That’s because I was assuming that the demon sometimes skipped 7th and/or 8th period. I will look at giving demons an option for how often they have been truant before today.
I had some writer’s block over some of the conversations in lunch hour. Rather than phone them in, I decided to leave it for now and go on so I had more options about what to work on.
Actually, since starting Day 2 I have given my testers exactly one new scene per species (which I then broke with some further edits) and then went back to Day 1. So the theory of “ignoring stuff so I can write it better” is already working. ![]()
In the United States, in a fairly small town called New Haven.
I have tentatively decided that New Haven is in Michigan, but that might change.
Read your reply and quickly googled New Haven Michigan to see if it existed or not. Funnily enough, I live an hour and a half away. All I can say in response to this is the Illuminati need a new hobby.
Damn, it exists? That could complicate things. Maybe California or Washington. I’ve only lived in Illinois and California, so besides needing some open land and trees wherever New Haven lands, I’m leery to set it in the South/open west/New England/anywhere else too far from where I’ve been. I once wrote a story set in South Carolina, and the research on just little things like flowers was exhausting.
Yeah, it’s a tiny little town with an estimated 5k population. I’ve got no idea if you can get in trouble for using an existing location.
Old Haven doesn’t exist if that helps.
There was a New Haven in California, but it was absorbed by Old Alvarado pretty shortly after its founding (as in, in 1853). So it might not be a bad idea to have it in California if you’re looking to avoid states that have a place called New Haven.
I’m a lifelong California native so that may make me a tiny bit biased in favor of California all things being even.
What if you just call it Haven?
Or if you set it in Hawaii? Because… well, because there aren’t any games set in Hawaii.
I can’t call it Haven because I love Stephen King and he set a whole supernatural miniseries in a place called Haven. Spoiler: This may or may not be why the town is called New Haven.
There is a town called Haven.
There is also a town called Havensville
Havenstone? Havenhearth? Havana? Banana?
Like I said earlier, Old Haven doesn’t exist in Michigan so it’d be good. Or, is the New part of New Haven important?
…I could be a bit biased about wanting to live an hour and a half away from monsterville.
[insert dramatic gasp here]Why not name the town Monsterville? Or is that too obvious?
