Monsters of New Haven High - last update 4/02

They’re human; the only difference is that they’re spiritually bonded to their vampire, in a way that creates a compulsion to protect, serve and obey them. Creatures who are sensitive to spiritual energy may notice something different, but to most they’ll seem identical to other humans. If the vampire were to die, the servant would again be indistinguishable from other humans, except for their memories and experiences.

There’s some misinformation about them - other monsters sometimes think that vampiric servants are just very well paid, or are mind-controlled to the point of being zombies, or that they’re part vampire. None of these are true.

Any amazing abilities vampiric servants have are a combination of being pretty special when first selected, and having the motivation to train their skills. Stunt drivers, hackers, snipers, star performers, etc. are prized acquisitions as servants.

How exactly do vampire make the connection? Do the potential servants have to be willing?

Drinking someone’s blood creates a connection between a vampire and their food source. Repeating it strengthens the bond, until the human becomes a servant. This is why, unless feeding from a servant/potential servant, vampires get their blood from various blood banks, random strangers, or trade prey with each other.

Willingness affects the process, sort of like with hypnosis. Strength of will, mental vigilance, dislike of intimacy, and unwillingness to give up control all contribute to a more difficult servant to convert. If Wendy were a human, she’d be the perfect example of someone with built-in defenses against it.

Servants may also experience the process differently: it may feel like falling in love, losing a sense of oneself, or they may construct rational reasons why they have entered their partnership.

Ok, interesting. I can see why the MC vampire’s sire had so little time for other opportunities, it sounds like tracking down and recruiting new servants is a very involved process (if they wanted quality, anyway).

All this means my long-term goal of making the twins my bodyguards/enforcers is feasible, which is very good to know.

Even if a nice salary isn’t the source of our servant’s loyalty, I hope they get one anyway.

My servant is always an Alfred Pennyworth clone named Charles, he is awesome and deserves compensation.

Me too. Can’t have shabby looking servants, it’d be incredibly embarrassing.

I always have my vampires’ servant be a father figure to her, or a best friend, so it would be great if they were also well paid. And if not well paid, then I hope they can at least enjoy all of the luxury and benefits of the mansion

I wish I could remember exactly what I picked to get a 4.5, but all I can recall is that I generally chose to pay attention and do schoolwork when given the choice.

Exactly, we are classy bloodsuckers and must give our loyal servants astounding benefits.

Just confirming an earlier bug report, I checked it out and a vampire making all academic decisions gets a 4.5 GPA whereas another monster, (I tried with a goblin) stopped at 4.0 despite higher academic stats. Sorry if that’s already been addressed, I just thought it brought up an interesting idea. My first thought when I came across it was that the Vampire, being rich, had bribed someone in admin for ridiculously high grades. It was one of those things that made me wonder if it hadn’t been designed that way. Loved the update, thanks for all your hard work.

Not speaking of this game in particular, but I have come across high schools which would allow GPA’s above 4.0. In those cases, certain classes are given more weight than ‘regular’ classes such as if the person is taking first-year college courses. Their rationale behind it was ‘these are classes which would normally not be taken by a regular high school student, so they should weigh more when taken.’

okay… just want to ask something that’s been bothering me… is it intended for Taylor to always become a female now? (because i remember before that Taylor was a guy and i try to pursue him)…

Since we’ve been talking about the vampire servant I was wondering if we would get a chance to meet other characters auxiliary friends. What I mean for example would be non vampire mc meeting Victorias version of Alfred or non demon mc meeting Chantaleb’s lover.

Sure some people might not like their first date being a menage trios with their crushes live in lover, but really if that’s not your scene maybe you shouldn’t romance a sex demon.

That does indeed appear to be the case and I think the author has confirmed as much some number of posts back.

I don’t for the life of me remember the post number though.

Wendigo will always be my favorite. I still haven’t decided whether I want to pair him up with Carl or Hunter. Both relationships are bound to run into a few bumps. Or a lot. Probably a lot. I am kinda leaning towards Carl 'cause I love the idea of a Wendigo challenging a Werewolf. I also have the poor hope that his pack might welcome him, but that is very, very, very unlikely. Like, we’d have to usurp the Alpha unlikely.

@AAO My favorite are the vampire and werewolf, but I voted for the vampire in the polls just now.

@Sneaks
Goblin lives DON’T matter until they exterminate everyone by building Super Mega Death Machines or commanding their army of Super-Fans into the battlefield.
