:birthday: Happy Birthday to July babies.

:firecracker: July is the month that the USA celebrates its independence and founding. Cheers to those that celebrate it! :fireworks:

Thank you, everyone that continues to participate in these threads ā€“ it helps others when you do participate, sometimes more than you think.

If anyone has specific questions or concerns I may help with, please let me know.

This month I thought Iā€™d highlight some of the book recs that has inspired @NMCannon in her working project: ā€œThe Witchā€™s Necklaceā€

And here is the list:

I announced this prematurly last month, but this time its for real:

Congratulations @will on the release of his Hosted Game:

Kiss from Death

Romance immortal beings in a world of epic fantasy! Fall in love with witches, princes, dragons, and more in a millennia-spanning search for eternal companionship. Immortality is a life of sex, violence, and tough moral questions. Burn castles, write poetry, seduce mortals, stop wars, unlock dark powers ā€“ you have all the time in the world to do as you please.

If anyone else has something special going on in July, let us know.

My starting July goals:

  • Write daily - again, even if I must do so at odd hours, this is an important goal to keep focused on.

  • Finish manually testing project two. This goal is unique to this project.

  • Forge ahead with project one. My initial goal for this project is to finish the opening on the section I wrote 5,000 words for last month. Iā€™d also like to make a more formal outline for signposting beyond the opening of this section.

Goal for July:

Complete up to Chapter 10 of my new project. This will probably be about 30,000 words.

June rapport:
Got first dose of vaccine (Pfizer), next one in August;
My thesis reached 12 k words an 21 pages, still too little, too slow and my professor realized after two weeks that I had sent and older file.
My novel project is still in hiatus.
Didnā€™t had time to study choicescript.
Thanks to @MeltingPenguins for her feedback about certain ideas
Wrote half of a short story to clear my mind from thesis writer block
Conceived a very mad idea about a scene because iperactivity, better not to talk about that.
My ā€œdepressionā€ is back, again

Hopes for July:
THESIS, THESIS, THESIS, time is running short.
Finish that short story, maybe turn it into a series for lighter and less serious writing.
Keep working on my projects:
ā€œGaiaā€™s storiesā€ (unofficial overall name) medium fantasy project, the most defined
ā€œ(Anti)Heroā€ superhero/soft cyberpunk (with hints of mysticism, I couldnā€™t get ride of that even if Iā€™d try, thatā€™s me), less defined because itā€™s meant to be set in a next future real world (our own unless stated differently) and because it seems to be un-ending for what pass trough my head. Good news has a lot of potential engaging characters and fits better for a CYOA.

I started off June really well but ended it in a kind of writerā€™s burnout. Surprisingly, I started feeling much better and wrote more fluidly today. New month, new ideas, I guess :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

My goals for July '21:
Finish the second draft of my WIPā€™s second chapter. This is a beefier one, so Iā€™m looking at >10k words this time.
Keep maintaining a writing streak with at least 500 words a day, with a day off each week to try and prevent burnout again.
Properly outline chapter 3ā€™s scenes, characters, motivations, etc. etc. to hopefully make writing easier and, once again, try to escape from the grasp of writerā€™s burnout.

Happy July, everyone. I canā€™t stand heat, so this is a perfect excuse to remain indoors and do a lot of writing. (Not that I really need an excuse for that.)

This month my goals are a little more ambitious, but match up roughly with what I actually managed last month:

  • Write every day.
  • 30k words on Fields of Asphodel
  • Release Chapter 3 of Asphodel sometime this month
  • Try for another 10k on Diaspora

I think Iā€™m in a good position to do this, and I expect the hardest phase will come at the beginning of the back third of the month, so hopefully knowing that will help me tackle it.

Good luck to everyone with their goals this month, whatever they may be. :dizzy:

I very much want to get back to doing some actual writing this month.
But Iā€™m also kinda in a ā€˜The stuff I make will never be good enough, and no one will ever really like it!ā€™ -mood, so weā€™ll see how it goes.

My goals remain the same since they worked so well last month: 5k by the 15th, 10k by monthā€™s end.

Iā€™m going to post my first WIP this month! I only have one chapter (Chapter 2 is also on my July To-Do list), but Iā€™m looking forward to getting feedback

Iā€™m gunning to finish my WiP this month, at the first draft stage anyway!

Donā€™t think Iā€™m going to set a goal for my writing project since I havenā€™t been able to touch that since Iā€™ve started working. So my goals are going to be more broad:

  • Find a better work life balance so I can slip in some time to write on Cold Hit
  • Donā€™t feel bad that Iā€™m not actively working on Cold Hit and that it may be years before I start actively working on it for years
  • Keep writing for work (tech writer) and the tiny writing group I met online
  • Eat, sleep, rinse repeat.
  • Get a better sleep schedule lol

Thatā€™s about it. Happy July everyone! I canā€™t believe weā€™re here! It feels like yesterday it was early March!

I take back everything positive I said about these threads. Calling in a mod to lock this now before more abusive content like this is posted.

Good day everyone.

I just joined this community last month. Iā€™ve played some Hosted Games and Choice of Games since 2016. With seeing a lot of stories and writings, theyā€™ve taught me a lot of vocab and wisdom (choosing choices). Iā€™m from Indonesia so English is not my forte, and since I began on reading and playing a lot of CoG or HG my skills went up pretty fast Iā€™d say.

Hereā€™s my report on June:

  • learning ChoiceofScripts for the past month (still learning :sob:)
  • wrote 7k word writing soon to be WiP (I hope I finish it this month for the first WiP)

Goal for July:

  • learn more ChoiceofScripts progamming language
  • finish my soon to be WiP this month (30k words at least)

June was weird. On the upside, I did meet some of my goals (better outline, got some things-but not all-together for a few publication and contest submissions, did more reading, baked my best cake yet) but Iā€™m pretty disappointed with the actual number of words I wrote. Still, Iā€™m trying to focus on the positives, because there really were a lot of them.

This month, Iā€™m going to focus on writing every day. That worked really well for me in May so I think, at least until Iā€™ve built up some of that sweet, sweet self discipline, thatā€™s the way to go. I might not hit a specific word count goal, but at the end of the month, I know Iā€™ll be able to look back and be proud that I did my best every day. And I know that building habits gets easier as you go. So Iā€™m optimistic and feeling good.

Good luck to everyone! Iā€™ll be cheering you all on! :two_hearts:

Thank you, @Eiwynn for the shout out! Iā€™m always happy to give book recs. It was difficult to narrow down this list. I just started In the Vanishersā€™ Palace by Aliette de Bodardand, and itā€™s a brilliant mind-bend of magic and technology.

Since Iā€™m here, I should participate! My goal this month is to finish Chapter 1 edits and get down a first draft of Chapter 2. So about 10k of fresh words.

Hey, yā€™all. This will be a great way for me to hold myself accountable, as my school is currently not in session right now. (Thank god.) Here are my hopes for July.

  • Write 5,000 by my birthday () I go on a vacay after that. Soā€¦ letā€™s aim for 7,000 by the end of the month.

  • Code the prologue of Mean!

Have a great month everybody :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

My hopes for July are simple.

Write everyday and hope to get past 20k in my current project.

Summer break starts later this month, so I might end up writing more, but this is what Iā€™d like to get done at the very least.

  • Finish a fanfiction story, for real this time.
  • Finish playing ME3. Forā€¦ research.
