Interest Check Thread

@Shadyaddams and @Dragongodess thanks for the responses what do you think the main qualitys are for these species? (So I can come up with a good backstory and environment for them and for the stat screen).

Well what are the stats you’re working with?

For a ghoul I would think stealth or deceit. Since they can shapeshift by consuming the flesh of the dead or living. As well as gain some of their memories. They also have great strength and super speed so I think those stats would go well for that. Arachne is like a spider version of a vampire. A witch would depends if the stats available intelligence/ lore/ magic/ something along those lines.

I’m looking to add stats (considering I have 3 right now) so anything goes.

@Shadyaddams
Nice to know I’m also going to be adding in 2 of the species you mentioned. (Ghoul and Witch) but your suggestions of stats actually helped me think a bit so I’ll be adding them in :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That’s awesome I’m glad I could help. I think the ghoul is a really unique supernatural creature that will add to the story. I think they are undead in actual ghoul lore but I’m unsure. I think vampire would probably not like ghouls. Keep up the good work

Hi everyone, i sadly am no writer but i do still think these are good ideas for games people here could make. Please leave comments for your ideas and claims if your going to make a game based on the idea.
Im leaving this very open so details can be yours.

First, a game where the Player is a necromancer. Rise the dead, form a army and take over, or not and just be a friend.

Second, a game where the Player is a undead. You were a prince (Princess) or king (Queen) of a great kingdom of the desert. When your life ended you were mummified and you expected to wake in the afterlife. Now you are a walking corpse. Strike out and rebuild your kingdom, become a god to the people, a immortal ruler, or simply aid the other undead kings. (Think Egypt)

I will try to add more and if you want to make any of these i would like to help with the creative process by coming up with ideas.

Greetings and Salutations Fellow Mortals,
It is I, random forgettable forum member #237664. I come bearing gifts of pen and paper (or 1s and 0s if you wanna get technical about the format). I’ve decided to do something with my abundant amount of free time and attempt to retrofit one of my failed stories into a cyoa game for random internet strangers to enjoy. So here’s the basic premise of the story:

The year is 5600 AE (Ascension Era) and you find yourself on the S.S. Hemingway, one of the grand transport ships of the human race (name pending, just a shoutout to my favorite author of all time at the moment). After decades of exploring the far reaches of the universe, it seems the captains of the fleet have finally discovered a new planet to commandeer. It checks all of the boxes for habitation: oxygen, liquid H2O, temperate climates, and presence of life! You hear rumors from others that this planet is referred to as ā€œEarthā€ on the old starmaps of Galaxy MW-1 and was thought to be uninhabitable due to an unprecedented amount of gamma radiation. Quite amazing what can change in a millennium!

There is one thing humans didn’t account for when (re)visiting Earth, though. They weren’t the only ones who called that giant wet space rock home. Upon colonization of the planet by the expeditionary forces, the humans were met with some…resistance. The investigatory agencies involved labeled the creatures ā€œhomo seraphinā€ or ā€œseraphā€, in reference to the similarities the creatures shared with angels from ancient human folktales. What’s especially damning for the scientists and politicians handling the colonization effort is that the seraphim seem to be in their own proto-medieval era, proving their sentience and intelligence. If humans want to recolonize this planet, they will have to fight for it.

Okay, so originally I wrote this narrative with a shifting perspective, one seraph and one human, and the narrative was basically about seraphim and humans finding a way to coexist with the help of the two main characters. Obviously though, that wouldn’t transfer well into a cyoa game due to the fact that it’s tough to make the player control two characters at the same time when the characters’ interactions with each other are an important part of the story.

So in conclusion:
A) does anyone like the concept and would consider playing the game and helping me develop it with criticism like the wonderful henchman you are?
B) any advice on how to fit this into a single perspective story i.e. should I make it from the human or seraph perspective (or a unique solution if anyone’s cool enough to think one up)?
C) any other comments about the setting, narrative, or other relevant elements that you feel I should know?

Thanks random internet strangers, you’re the best! :sunglasses:

I’m pretty sure there is a WIP where you control 2 different characters.

Edit: It’s called Become Mortal by @Tevin

Ahhhhhh yes, I know Become Mortal, big fan of @Tevin’s writing but I’m not nearly confident enough of my skills as a writer and coder to do the story justice if it’s too complicated. This would be my first wip, so I’m trying to go more conventional, at least for this one. Thank you though!

It does sound interesting. I would be interested to play regardless of which point of view our MC is from or if we play from both sides. I do have to say seeing it from two MC’s point of view would be slightly more interesting as we could chose how each side handles the encounters of the the other

How about we go full avatar where human mc gets a seraphin body seperate to their own and you can switch back and forth, to gain perspective on both sides so we can choose where our loyalties lie. I won’t lie this suggestion sounds crazy, but I thought if it is the same mc just in different bodies it would make it easier to write the story but that’s what I, a random internet stranger, think and would be interested in what you think about his suggestion.

If you’re like me and have occasionally or not so occasionally indulged in the world of fanfics (Some seriously good works there, though. I found the Hannibal and The Original Startrek fandom to be especially classy), you may be familiar with the concept of Alpha/Beta/Omega universes or Sentinel/Guide universes.

They can be corny, or irritatingly and horrendously cliche, but when given a proper twist, they can be fascinating works. Opressed omegas becoming rebels and building a secret international terrorist group, sentinels with missing senses, evil manipulative guides, world with omegas that are biologically prone to violence and cannibalism during heat like female spiders, government exploited sentinels…

Will there ever be a cyoa based on such things and will it be liked?

I appreciate the idea, and I had given the idea of going full-blown Avatar some thought, but after a bit, I think it’s just a tad too cliche or maybe ā€œeasyā€ is the right term. At that point, I feel like I would just be writing an Avatar fanfic. But I do appreciate the ideas!

I gave it some thought and I think I’ve decided on having the MC be human, at least for the initial development of the WiP. I may add an option to be a Seraph instead (so doubling the workload essentially) later on in the development process. Reasoning for choosing human MC over Seraph MC is because it has more potential for moral ambiguity in the narrative I believe, so it would be a more interesting story than from a Seraph’s point-of-view.

Ok so I’ve started my goofy lil kindergarten based COG project. But I want to also start working on something a little more serious, less silly, less lighthearted.

I’ve always been captivated by Alice in Wonderland. The world, the characters, the various themes you can tie into it. I was thinking of writing a COG about exploring Wonderland: its mysteries, its beauty, its various dangers and adventures.

The original novel is public domain now. I obviously just couldn’t use any new ideas or characters added by later versions of it, like the Disney version for instance.

Sounds fun I had toyed with an idea where you could romance older versions of Alice, Dorothy and Wendy and get to visit Wonderland, Oz and Neverland, so this sounds like an interesting idea!

Hello! I’ve thinking about making a Doki Doki Literature Club-styled game - sort of. The premise would be similar, with like-minded characters - sort of!

Basically, MC has this childhood friend who wants to spend more time with them, but due to her club activities, she’s unable to. So she decides to ask MC to join the Paranormal Research Club too. Whether MC is disdainful at first or agrees no question asked it’s up to you. MC eventually joins and meets the ROs, and it becomes a romance game with a small twist following the DDLC logic. More than anything, the game’s about helping the ROs with their problems, since I know some people wanted DDLC to be a normal dating sim.

I actually wanted to make this a visual novel, but the coding ended up being too much for me. In general, coding is pretty hard for me, so if anyone feels like helping, it’d be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind english isn’t my first language, though! Thank you.

Now, onto the characters (they don’t have names yet and I don’t know if I should make them Japanese or not).

ROs
  • Childhood friend - Vice-president of the club. A shy girl with self-esteem issues. She loves cryptids and ghost stories more than anything, even more so than possibly President. Her family is pretty rich, so she’s insecure about whether others only ā€˜like’ her for her status.

  • President - President of the club (duh). A bubbly, cheerful and ditzy young woman, maybe there’s more to her personality than she lets on…

  • Tomboy - A member of the club and a hobbyist guitarist, she’s very rowdy, often getting into fights for petty reasons. But maybe she has a softer side…? Or maybe not!

  • Miss Why-Isn’t-Everything-Perfect - A member of the club, she’s girl with a cutthroating personality, she’s unafraid to say what’s on her mind, offensive or not. She’s very stoic & a clean freak. Often headbutts with President out of her desire for leadership.

  • The boy:tm: - A member of the club, & the only masculine one. Because he likes crossdressing, he’s often bullied, but could actually care about it. Extremely brave, impulsive and courageous, you should put a collar on him…

Is anyone, like, interested?

I would totally love such a game.

This is a repost because the previous one I had to delete for ton of reasons.

So, this is a sort of update on my situation for the creation of my game which still has no name.

I might get my new computer around November, maybe December, if anything before that then my plans on investing in a very expensive playing card was successful(it’s value is around 20k-130k) and may buy it sooner, then when I would have.

I have some questions to ask you guys, as to what you want me to add in my game, if you don’t remember my last post, after I post this I’ll edit this post with the link, anyway on the to polls:

Do you want to choose what you’ll be the god of?(had to restart the poll)

  • Yes
  • No

0 voters

Do you want to start with less power as a side effect of being exiled/banished?(also had to restart this one)

  • Yes
  • Yes, in fact I want to start with zero power
  • No
  • I don’t care(please care!)

0 voters

Do you want to have a special god weapon just for you?(had to restart this one too, luckily no one voted)

  • Sure
  • Sure, but can I choose what it is?(maybe, is my answer)
  • No
  • Bah, why would I need a weapon when I’m literally the most powerful god in existence

More polls later when I’m done reading ā€œhow to make successful polls on what your writing for dummiesā€

I know that the majority of people voted not to start off with less power as a result of being exiled. But if we were once the most powerful of the gods wouldn’t it make more sense that the other gods stripped us of most of our power if not all ? In my opinion it wouldn’t make much sense if they just kicked our ass and didn’t take away our power because what stops us from just using our power to obliterate them ? (besides the power of plot). Also I think it would make the gods come across as incompetent or downright stupid if they didn’t weaken our power in someway. Again just my opinion.
