misrepresented maybe…but they look…so goood
Oh yeah, they’re cool. Accurate? Not even close. An actual Velociraptor wouldn’t even reach your knees. Though they were as dangerous and smart relative to other dinosaurs as the original film implies.
I think a game around a specific epoch or dinosaur could be expansive, or be several games in one with multiple dinosaurs to try surviving as. Or even something beyond that with numerous prehistoric creatures before, during and after the dinosaurs.
practise make it perfect ![]()
I can’t code to save my life , and my spelling aint the best . But I love stories too much, to not write my crazy fanfic…or stories . They gotta come out! and sometimes the best storie is one you make yourself .
yeah I know. I watched enough documentary ![]()
I think a game would be forced to how to say, either gate you in one dinausore type . Or cut down on how many you can choose from .
Don’t get me started… Jurassic Park 3’s Spinosaurus infuriates me beyond belief. In reality the fight would be in the Tyranosaurs Rex’s favour because of how the jaw muscles and bones work. T.rexes was made for crushing bone and casing damage to whatever was in them! The Spinosaurus was a fish eater and thus cannot bite off a Trexes head unless it was a baby Trex… they would not have even met any way they lived one what was Africa (Spinosaurus) and America (rex). That’s the end of my rant or else I’ll be up all night here.
the T-rex had to be dethroned…nuff said
I do cut the Jurassic Park films some slack because they have clearly stated that the dinosaurs have genetic elements missing and what filled them made them different enough, but they still give people the wrong impression about several dinosaurs.
But yeah, a dinosaur game either needs to be accurate and have plenty of options or else go down the One Million BC route where prehistoric times are all mixed up into one melting pot of survival of the fittest.
Because I went off it years ago I’ll post it here: I wanted at one point to write a short story where you are a fledgling hunter on an undiscovered tiny island where smaller dinosaurs - proper, realistic dinosaurs in all their proto-feathered glory - have survived alongside unique birds, and fledgling hunters semi-domesticate small raptors as hunting partners to survive in a very deadly and claustrophobic jungle environment.
The tribe, very primitive and something like the Sentinelese has no idea that these sacred animals so vital to their lives are supposed to be extinct. But once the outside world learns of their existence it becomes a competition between modern powers to earn, take, or trade for them. That was my idea as a kid.
It sounds very interesting, but given the potential level of complexity, “short” isn’t the first adjective that comes to mind.
I wasn’t going to write the whole thing; I was going to write a small amount, and end around the same time armed people would force their way into the island, leave the idea open to people over what would happen next.
I used to write a lot of drabbles and short stories that ended the same way. I have a lot of ideas, and I do a lot of things, I just… don’t care about doing this.
I’m aware that you’re not going forward with the story, but I’d like to let you know that the word “primitive” is deeply offensive in the context of describing indigenous people - real or fictional.
T. rex means “tyrant lizard king” you cannot dethrone a trex because it’s name means king!
Basically you play as a superhero whose powers are gained from other people.
I’m having a hard time locking down what path this game will travel.
In all cases you’re a superhero who runs into the newly formed Freedom Force, a Superhero league established by the charismatic Imperial. What I’m trying to figure out is one of three paths;
- A power-stealing Mutant whose abilities come from killing others. Less standard hero and more Diabolical style of play, either the bad or not-so-bad guy. Choose either great power and infamy, or limit your victims to those of dubious morality.
- A team-focused playthrough where your relationship to others determines what powers you can access. You can’t please everybody, and you can only get certain abilities. Focus on a few people for versatility or one person to access the deep, hidden potential of their abilities.
- You gain standard powers, with one of the above being a purchasable extra or second novel, using your powers to slowly assist you in stealing abilities while hiding your secret identity.
After a freak lightning storm destroys the CERN headquarters and envelops the planet, you are one of many humans to develop new superhuman abilities. Armed with one of several sets of powers, you’re faced with many possibilities; will you join the Government’s anti-mutate task force, the cleverly named AMTF? Will you ally with the Mutant society for Peace? Or will you fall prey to Josiah Carpenter and his cult, the People’s Movement?
-Play as straight, gay or bisexual.
-Romance your mentor, your sidekick, or that cute bartender down the street.
Thoughts?
2 sounds like the best approach since it would allow for a good or evil option path. Though I must admit 1 sounds interesting if it plays like Vampyr does, where Jonathan can choose to not harm others or focus on those he considers more amoral or villainous rather than attacking everyone.
I think 2 is the best, too. In 1 you are forced to play a villian or a atleast an anti hero. For me the problem would be that if I play a Hero the char tries to let everybody alive.
2 sounds interesting, but can the MC be a lone wolf?
1 villain mc, there aren’t a lot of them
that’s a good point. You would have to make friends.
That was my idea essentially, you’re driven by a hunger not unlike Sylar, but your choices can allow you to benefit with minimal harm. (i.e. Charming your way into a morgue, Working there yourself, etc.) The powers would correspond with how far you are in the story as well as how much risk you’re willing to put yourself in, feeding off of the few heroes/villains who die in combat, or actively hunting serious game.
That’s the main issue I have with the second option. I also think the first option deserves exploring, but if others don’t like the villian/anti-hero route I’d rather adjust. The only fix I can think of is that you use technology instead of relying on your power, and only significant coincidence would ever have you using other’s abilities. (i.e. you temporarily empathise enough with a speedster to gain inhuman, but not super-speed, as you’re both in a high adrenaline situation. So in a Stats sense it can be;
Power Technology
So you’re a vampire? But instead of blood you take abilities?
