A really oversimplified explanation: eventually, the brain will kick out the “original consciousness” and create “fictional characters” to pilot the body and the core consciousness and keep it safe from harm. This is where we get dissociative identity disorder (DID); most people know it by its old name, multiple personality disorder (MPD).
How about you Google “symptoms of dissociation” and see what you can find? Otherwise, I’d be willing to give you many examples, provided I’m paid.
Hello friends I have an idea for a game and I would like to share with you
It’s called Children of the flame
the promise is this set in the 1980s after a nuclear war devastated the world the surviving population of the u.s. migrated to California and are now living under a brutal Communist dictatorship
to make matters even worse mutants have begun to appear among the general population
feared and despised mutants are actively hunted by the government
the main character was an average teenager going about their life before discovering their mutant powers now for their own safety the mc must choose between two mutant resistance groups
The Well meaning but morally dubious United resistance organization or the extremist mutant Liberation Army
when tyrant’s reign supreme will you break the chains of tyranny lead the people to a new age of freedom? or will you be the herald of a new age of tyranny? the choice is yours
By the way, I’m also looking for a co-developer to help with the game if you want to join me send me a DM and we can talk further sorry if this is breaking any rules
Very excited to post this idea with y’all. I am semi-active on this forum. You can usually find me testing a lot of WIPs and offering comments and praise about them. Today I’m here for my own idea.
Basically, the setting is a fictional country that is pretty modern, but still has a royal family. You are from any of the many cities from this country, coming from any variety of backgrounds and walks of life. You make an account on a dating website that is all the rage in the country at the moment at the nagging of your current roommate. Only, the dating website is a ruse for the royal family of the country to find a partner for their young royal.
You find yourself thrust into a competition of mystery, intrigue and of course, romance! As you compete the win the royal’s heart, or any of the heart’s of any other people you’ll meet along the way, you’re also working to uncover something dark and sinister that threatens the country.
I was inspired to create this idea by playing Drag Star and a variety of the royal games on both HG and COG. Pros for this game currently include playing as a variety of sexualities and genders, as well as being able to pick the gender/looks of the young royal (looks is subject to change depending on factors that will come while writing, but you definitely will be able to choose their gender). I plan for this to be a standalone story, with many great endings regardless if you go after the royal or not!
So, tl;dr: you sign up for a dating website and find yourself in a royal dating competition, fighting a sinister threat on the horizon.
Is this something that you’d play or at least be interested in if a demo was eventually put up? Thanks in advance!
I would totally play the game. The idea with the look is a good one because it would be pity if someone doesn’t like the original look. Are there going to be just one Royal? Because then people may have a problem with the personality and of them.
So how I was planning on introducing the royal goes a bit like this:
“The Royal Family was always a bit of a mystery to you. The last time you saw the royal, what did they look like?” [Enter look/gender customization]
“How do you remember the way that they acted in public?” [Enter personality customization]
With these options, I’m hoping that will be enough customization for the player’s liking, but I’ve been entertaining the idea of the royal having a sibling! Once I write a bit more, I’ll see if I’ll include that or not. At the moment, the royal is an only child. Hopefully this answers your question. If not, please let me know!
Look’s like this is a rather underrepresented type of game. In both hosted games and choice of games, I know we have T. rex time machine, but for me a dinosaur game is one where you get to be one. This is something that I want to fix but I have trouble understanding choice script. So I ask you to help me out and well answer 2 questions one is the topic title & Why aren’t there any being written?
(It’s like your all scared of trying to do the dinosaurs justice or something)-my opinion is in the brackets I’m not trying to offend anyone here!
People make games they’re interested in. If nothing is being written, it probably means most people don’t have a big interest in dinosaurs, or playing one.
As with most ideas, the most reliable way to get what you want is to write the game yourself. You say you have trouble understanding choicescript, but I suggest spending some time on the wiki. It’s really quite easy to learn the basics.
I also love dragons too, so I see where you are coming from in regards to them and the freedom they afford. Yet with Dinosaurs there is a level of freedom too as there are-were so many of them! To choose from.
@E_RedMark I don’t have any good ideas save two that’s not very many to choose from I’ve also made them into stories on my laptop, said stories will be hard to make into choice games. Probably because I don’t have the best work ethic - in a sense if it’s something I really want to do then I’ll do it, if it’s something like an assessment task then I’ll proastinate. Also I don’t think my writing can get to the standard that is on this site.
Also in regards to dialogue well something can be done about that, like a different language or something like that.
I would love to make a game about dinosaurs but since Choice Script always seems so complicated for me (dyslexia and all) it’s hard to adapt that. I think if I was going to write one I would want the option of playing various dinosaurs and surviving based on epoch (Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous) and herbivore/carnivore status. So something like A Dogs Life but with dinosaurs. Playing as a Tyrannosaurus Rex is clearly going to be a different game to playing as a Compynasus or a Stegosaurus.
Also the question of realism vs popular culture. Velociraptor is one of those dinosaurs who has been completely misrepresented thanks to Jurassic Park, since it’s clearly meant to be deinonychus. Given how small velociraptors actually were the idea you can ride one in Dinorider is pretty hilarious to me.
