Interest Check Thread

Hey everyone, I was thinking of making a choicescript game based in the Fate-verse and centered around the Holy Grail War. I was wondering if people would be interested in playing a game like that, so here I am asking.

The project is too help me gets some practice and gain some experience before I begin my main project. I don’t intend to have it published, which I don’t even think was an option in the first place because copyright exists.

But if people are willing to give me constructive feedback to help me improve my writing while also experiencing an entertaining story in the process please let me know.

  • Yes, I’d be Intrest in a story that.
  • No, I wouldn’t be interested.

I think you should just do it. Even if you don’t share it with anyone. Just to have made a completed game, start to finish, as a learning project. Plan it, write it, polish it - and if it’s something you’re satisfied with, let people beta test it. If not, archive it and make something else. Repeat until you’re happy with where your skills are.

Thank you for the insight, I genuinely appreciate you for going out of your way to answer my question.

I actually do have some of the story already written down, but I had my reservations about sharing it because it wasn’t an orginal idea.

I just needed some external affermatiom to go through with it I guess, thanks for giving me that push🙏

It would be interesting to see your take on that and your right ifnit follows to closely to the orgional source you cant sell it for monetary gain. You can however make a wip demo from start to finish for people to read for free so with that i would read it as it comes. :grinning:

I’m glad to hear you’re interested in reading a story like this. I wanted to make sure there was an audience for it before fully committing to the project, and you’ve just confirmed that for me—so thank you! I’ll be sure to let you know when the demo drops👍

Hello! I’ve spent the past couple of months trying to make a demo to post here but now that I’m getting into a position to do so (both have prologues + at least two chapters ready to go and more planned) I’m not sure which idea people would be interested in and do not wish to spam this forum with a bunch of seperate WIP threads as that just feels rude + even if I could find it helpful during the early stages of writing and making these I absolutely would not be able to bring multiple WIPs to completion at once as whilst they’re fully planned out/drafted the full coding/reception will likely shape the final directions they take and what freedoms/branches are kept vs trimmed!

So I’d appreciate it if anyone was willing to say if either of these ideas appeal to them, tried to somewhat briefly explain them here!

Fledgeling

A door is left open, up turns down - left turns right - what was once closed forever is now open, emergency lights are flashing and something someone is attacking your home. The Aviary. The beating shining heart of The Tear. The others are dead and if you stay you will die.

You are a lost little thing somewhere you do not belong; there is blood on the walls and something chasing you at your heels, you must run. The Nurse is guarding The Tear, bloodied and shaking, she tries to get you close - tries to tell you it’ll all be okay. And you know it is a lie.

The Tear is spreading, a tear in space and time and it allows things to slip through.

You are left with no choice but to jump.

And so through time and space you fall.

[Drama/Thriller/Mystery/SciFi with Romance! Follow an escaped lab rat with one of three post-escape backgrounds as they find themselves tangled with M.A.C.E. an offshoot of the now defunct MI8 and at the heart of a conspiracy concerning the monsters of their childhood. Dealing with cracks in time, betrayal from those around them, spy shenanigans and factions warring for control. Do you want the truth? Revenge? Or do you just want to be left alone?

Inspired by: Black Widow movie, Slow Horses and Torchwood!]

A Fickle Thing

The thread is spun, it is an old and ancient thing that has withered away into ribbons. And yet it finds itself wrapping around your finger all the same.

It was by chance, an accident, something that never should have happened, the classic story of being in the wrong place at the wrong time - one day you find a coin on the ground and a person laying before it bleeding. The coin is thrust into your hands with a battered mobile phone, they beg you to take the coin. They weep for their Mother. For their home.

The Gods are real, the stories are true and the fates have been planning this for a long long time.

They tell you there are monsters coming with their rattling final breath.

This is a world of terrible anicent things promising ruin and now there is a voice that isn’t yours screaming inside your head for you to run. Whatever path you were once on lies shattered as this new world locks itself around your feet.

You were never meant for this. Your role was never a part of the fates design. But fate is often fickle and your destiny is of your own making.

[Modern-Fantasy/YA (given it follows a sort of heroes journey over several years as they grow into the events and the life they’ve been given,) following your character as they are thrust into a tapestry of events that has long been woven and cause the threads to pick apart. Deals with fate/destiny, greek myths, monsters, reincarnation and free will! Save the world or damn it all if it means taking down the Gods themselves? Inspired by: Wheel of Time, Kaos and Hadestown!

And whilst I’m aware the inital premise sounds similar I have genuinely never seen nor read the Percy Jackson series and all my knowledge of it is entirely third hand.]

A thought I had, may or may not write it at some point, but I was hesitating between two similar but slightly-different premises and just wondering which scenario you guys liked best.

I was thinking of maybe writing a story loosely inspired by Kiera Cass’ The Selection. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a YA novel where thirty-five girls are chosen to participate in a competition to become the next Queen/seduce the prince.

I was thinking of potentially doing a vaguely similar premise, where each candidate has to participate in various trials to prove their skills as the next ruler. They can be straightforward and try to win through your skills alone, plot and backstab others, or instead just focus on appealing to the prince/princess’ feelings and marry for love instead.

Now, the part I was unsure about is this:

Would you prefer to be one of the candidates that has to participate in the competition itself and try to claw your way into royalty? Or would you rather be the royal at the very top that gets seduced by everyone else/has to choose their spouse from the available candidates?

A candidate story would be focused more on climbing to the top, fighting other candidates for supremacy through various means, and potentially choosing to not really participate at all despite being chosen–instead opting to aim for another position at court altogether, forming alliances and skills to benefit you in other ways, or even just deciding to romance other candidates or workers instead of aiming for the royal you’re supposed to be aiming for.

A royal story would be focused more on juggling the current political situation, remaining in stable position of power amongst the various factions and groups and dodging any potential coups or assassination attempts, while also gauging and judging each candidate to see which one you think would suit your ruling style best, or which one you prefer as a person in general. You can also choose to throw it all away and instead aim for something more unconventional, like changing the established status quo or romancing a non-candidate… at your own risk, of course.

What do you guys think?

  • Be one of the candidates participating in the competition
  • Be the royal that has to choose their spouse

I stumbled upon CoG by chance after playing through a few IF games and searching for more to feed my new found addiction. I figured I’d have a go at making one myself using ChoiceScript after reading through some of the threads on the forum here and thought it would probably be a good idea to see if anyone would actually be interested in what I’m planning to write.

The story is set in a Xainxia inspired fantasy world filled with Cultivators and Qi (For those who might not have seen the genre it’s in essence a Chinese style magic system of sorts, where practitioners absorb Qi, the world’s mana for want of a better descriptor, in an effort to fight against fate. Achieving immortality, great power and eventually ascending to gain a sort of Quasi-Divinity).

The story would start with a normal, average mortal child and follow their journey as they grow, acquiring greater power and wisdom.

I’m planning two separate paths to start with where after the prologue they either go the route of joining a Righteous Sect and having resources and guidance from an ancient institution or getting injured (which stops them joining) and then having to follow the route of a rogue Wandering Demonic Cultivator where they would become an enemy to most of the existing sects in the world and have to struggle desperately just to survive and stay hidden, whilst doing whatever they have to in order to gain enough resources to continue their cultivation.

Hello! An avid CYOA reader and lurker in this forum for some time who is thinking of biting the bullet, having made an account and considering making my own game with this idea I have had for some time.

Hero-Detective 0722: The Hero Killer is a superhero mystery game where you play as a rookie Acrohuman Hero trained by the mysterious, invisibility-cloaking Nowhere Man. With your ability to transform into a beast-like form, you will use your deductive skills, enhanced senses, and brute strength to track down a skilled killer who has been murdering your fellow Heroes and face off against powerful enemies along the way.

Set in Manila, Philippines during the late 1980s, the game takes place in the wake of the People Power Revolution that peacefully ousted the infamous Marcos dictatorship. Acrohumans used their powers to serve both the regime and resistance, and in this fragile democracy, Heroes like you are supervised by SERBA—the country’s highly regulated Hero group—and the Commission on Human Rights’ Acrohuman Affairs Task Force.

Some of your fallen colleagues were former collaborators with the dictatorship, having switched sides last minute during the revolution to dodge accountability. Now, it seems someone is out to finish what the revolution started. It’s your job to track them down, but you and your mentor are not the only ones hunting down the “Hero Killer.”

  • Customize your beast-like form. Transform into on a towering, muscular figure, a swift canine predator, a cold-blooded reptilian form, or an eerie aswang-like creature straight from local folklore.
  • Use your detective intuition and your Acrohuman strength and senses to connect the dots, uncover the Hero Killer, and face other dangerous foes.
  • In a fragile democracy built on Human Rights, licensed Heroes are bound by strict Rules of Engagement and other regulations. Will you follow the law or unleash your full power, even if it risks losing control?
  • Uncover a conspiracy by fallen Heroes who collaborated with a brutal dictatorship, now hiding in plain sight and possibly plotting to seize power.
  • Work with or even romance a fellow Hero, a watchdog from the Acrohuman Affairs Task Force, a thrill-seeking Hero photographer, among other characters.
  • Explore a post-EDSA Manila in an alternate, superpowered world. Meet citizens both powerful and powerless, shaped by real and alternate history.

Would love to hear what you guys think about this and if you have any questions!

I want to read that.

The approach looks great. Plus, I love the fresh air of an alternative environment outside the US.

Do you think that even the old heroes who collaborated with the old Philippine dictatorship also used their services to commit criminal acts?

Glad to know you found it interesting! Also yes, expect to also face off against criminals led by some of these cronies. Some of them used their powers and influence to gain wealth during the dictatorship through less than legal means. After it was overthrown, although some of these rogue Heroes continued their careers, some also found new regulations on Heroes to be too strict and decided to continue as superpowered crime bosses. They will also act as an obstacle in the investigation.

Another thing I found interesting about your work is not only that the MC has a monstrous “beast” form power, but that you’re also adding a unique type of beast based on Filipino folklore. Out of curiosity, what does an aswang look like?

And furthermore, what kind of weaknesses or implications does the MC’s beastly power have on his life and activities?

It’s not really based on any specific aswang, but takes some elements from various pieces of folklore. But generally, it is a tall, shadowy, eerie figure that you could imagine prowling the forests at night or hanging around a balete tree. The rest of the appearance I will leave it up to the player.

As of now, the beastial forms will affect the stats and come with their own bonus ability. The game will have 5 skills: Physique, Finesse, Instincts, Tactics, and Subtlety.

By default, the player’s Physique will be maxed out when in their beast form. As a bonus, their chosen form will also provide a moderate boost to another stat, but it will also decrease another stat. Do note that these will only apply when in beast form.

For example, the “Muscular Form” (similar to Hulk or She-Hulk) will grant a bonus to Finesse, but since I imagine it as the largest of the four forms, it cannot hide that well, so it will decrease Subtlety. The “Aswang Form” will grant a bonus to Subtlety, but may decrease Finesse.

I think this could also make nice roleplay opportunities. Your human mode can be completely different from the monster form. You can be subtle and weak as a human but loud and strong as a beast.

I’m also considering giving a “bonus power” to each of these. The Muscular Form can maybe jump a high distance and break walls while the “Reptilian Form” can stick to walls and ceilings, but I am still on the fence about this.

Lastly, another narrative element the player can determine is an “incident” they had with their powers. Maybe they unleashed it in a family argument, straining their home life, maybe while training they injured a fellow cadet, adding some baggage to the player.

Wow, the description you gave reminded me a lot of the Colombian legend of the silbón, that tall, gloomy man who prowls around at night carrying his father’s bones while looking for womanizers and drunks to drink their blood, announcing his presence and death depending on the tone of his whistle.

What beast forms do you have planned so far? And what are your specific strengths and weaknesses in those 5 skills?

I think with this premise there may be a subplot of contrasting identity conflict between the MC’s human and beast forms, like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Things in the MC’s environment or psyche that bring out the more unstable side of their power; be it a disorder, trauma, anger issues, sensitive senses, hunger, or a sense of survival and self-preservation in desperate times.

I like how you visualize an extra and special power to each beast form.

I think it’s a good idea to establish a background that establishes both the strength and weakness of his power, as well as shaping his personality based on his life story.

You really intrigue me with this whole “Hero-Detective 0722: The Hero Killer” project, I really wish you luck in getting this interesting project off the ground

“Every curse is a stitch between what should’ve died and what refuses to disappear.”

I write because some stories won’t leave you alone until you give them a voice. Suture was born that way — from a restless feeling, from questions about pain, identity, and what it really means to carry something no one else can see. I like building worlds where the supernatural reflects the parts of us we try to hide. If you’ve ever felt like some things can only be told through monsters, invisible threads, and impossible choices… then this story is for you.

:flower_playing_cards: World:

The visible world is just a thin veil stretched over a second layer of reality known as the Reverse — a realm where pain, regret, and buried memories take physical form as entities called Sutures. Sutures are living scars of the human soul, born from deep trauma and long-suppressed truths. Invisible to most, they dwell in the cracks of time, feeding on the sorrow people try hardest to bury. Those who can see into the Reverse are known as Veilseers — and among them exists a secretive organization tasked with holding back the spread of Sutures: the Threshold Court.

:eye: Synopys:

You’re just another student on the surface — until you witness someone “unstitched” before your eyes. Their skin tears open like shredded fabric, and from within steps a creature sewn together with invisible threads, staring straight at you. You should’ve died. But instead… something inside you answers back. A spiritual thread, red as dried blood, shoots from your wrist and binds the creature in midair. You don’t know how you did it. But somehow, it doesn’t feel like the first time. Before you can run, a man named Senn Morrow, a “Spiritual Surgeon” from the Order, appears and makes you an offer: “Either learn how to stitch the world back together or become its next scar.”

:drop_of_blood: Outline:

  • Spiritual Threads: Each Veilseer manifests unique threads shaped by their core trauma. Yours are the Threads of Judgment — they bind to the regret of others.

  • The Reverse Weave: A hidden conspiracy within the Threshold Court believes that certain Sutures can be “awakened” and used as tools for spiritual transcendence.

  • The Personal Mystery: You bear spiritual markings that suggest you are an unfinished suture. Something tried to possess you… and failed.

  • Resonant Stitches: Some emotional events leave wounds so deep they imprint on the fabric of reality itself — becoming Resonant Stitches. These locations ripple with unstable memory, causing hallucinations, time distortion, and spontaneous Suture manifestations. Some say if you listen closely in these places, you can still hear the original pain trying to sew itself back together.

  • Phantom Threads: Veilseers occasionally develop Phantom Threads — involuntary spiritual links to the living or the dead. These threads tug at the soul, drawing the Seer toward fates they never chose… or truths they never wanted to remember. Phantom Threads cannot be cut. Only understood — or accepted.

  • The Inner Needle: Every Veilseer, upon awakening, feels the pull of an Inner Needle — a spiritual compass that points toward the root of their deepest wound. Some follow it. Others try to silence it. Following the Inner Needle may lead to healing or to complete unraveling of the soul.

  • Threshold Court – the secretive main order working to “stitch back” the boundaries between worlds.

  • Hollow Weavers – rogue ex-Veilseers who use Sutures as fuel for personal evolution and forbidden rites.

  • The Twin Needles – a legendary executioner duo feared even by the Court itself.

  • The Broken Thread – a long-lost faction said to have vanished… or perhaps become something else entirely.

:compass: Factions (some):

  • The Sleeping Tapestry: A silent sect that believes the entire universe is an imperfect stitchwork made by something beyond comprehension. Its members refuse to use their threads, waiting for the day of the “Great Unraveling,” when the Reverse will swallow the waking world.

  • The Black Needles: A group of elite hunters trained to pierce directly into the souls of Sutures — sealing them from the inside out. Each member has undergone extreme spiritual rites, sacrificing parts of themselves (memories, skin color, reflections) in exchange for absolute power. Black Needles never smile. Not out of pride. They’ve simply forgotten how.

  • The Bone Embroiderers: A rogue underground network of Veilseers who sew Sutures into their own bodies, transforming themselves into Living Works. Every stitch amplifies their strength — and corrodes their sanity. Some revere them. Most hunt them.

:thread: Final Notes:

“Suture” is still unfolding — thread by thread, choice by choice. I’m deep in the process of weaving this world into an interactive experience where your decisions shape more than just the story… they leave scars. This project means a lot to me, and I’m building it with care, darkness, and heart. If anything in this world resonated with you — a moment, a name, a feeling — I’d love to hear it. Your feedback isn’t just appreciated… it’s part of the stitching that brings this story to life. Thank you for reading. And remember: some threads pull you for a reason. Some stories choose you.

Update on this post: I have now started writing the story! In the end, the option that won was being the royal that has to choose their spouse. We’ll see how it turns out and how well I’m able to write it all out.

For anyone else who chose the option of being a participant in the competition, worry not, the idea isn’t completely scrapped either. If I’m not able to make the royal story interesting enough, I’ll be switching to that one. Otherwise, if I ever manage to actually finish and publish the whole thing, there will always be the possibility for a sequel/prequel with that particular concept in mind at some point.

this sounds so cool! i’m looking forward to it!

Dang! I was thinking on developingsomethinh on yhe same premisse, but its a Reality Show where princes, princesses and wannabes must live together in a farm/island and win Takeshi’s Castle and Eurodance like challenges to become the next King/Queen/Monarch of the World!

(Its a dark future were people simply dumpedpoliticians and decided to slave royals into eternal “the Kardashians” meet “the Office” slavery)
