Hey, just wondering if anyone is interested in a story-rich kingdom management game Long Live the Monarch (other title suggestions are welcome, because this one sounds weird to me right now). You play as a prince/princess who inherited the kingdom at the age of five, right after your father disappeared during one of his conquests. Your mother became your regent, but after a devastating plague, she too was gone, leaving you and your sister alone in the pit of vipers. Now, you have to deal with a conniving regent who seeks to control you, a duchess who wants your crown, and a vengeful foreign ruler who wishes to bathe your entire kingdom with blood for the things your father did to their realm. Can you survive? Or will you succumb to the troubles both within and without?
In this game, you can:
- Stabilise the realm by being a paragon of virtue, or backstab your way to victory.
- Experience the harshness of rulership- managing your stress well or succumb to madness.
- Manage the relationship between your realm and the neighbouring kingdom- will you conquer them like what your father would have done, or will you seek peace?
- Discover the truth behind your fatherās disappearance.
- Marry for political alliance, love, or not at all.
Will this be in the medieval era, or we will finally see some 1600s to 1800s action?
Unfortunately the setting is based off on medieval era, because otherwise some plot points wonāt work lol
For now, I have 7 ROs planned for the game: 2 boys, 2 girls, and 3 gender-selectable. I originally started with just 3 (Boys) ROs when I came up with this idea, but a little variety sounds great. At some point I almost decided to add 11 ROs but I donāt want to die writing all that.
oh nice so i can pick my poisen when it comes to boys lol thank you for not doing just girls is the mcs gender choosable sorry for so many questions
I have a few ideas for different stories, not sure when I start them but Iām throwing them into the room and maybe one or two stick and interest some of you xD
First:
The Treasure Island (the book by Robert Louis Stevenson) -Classic Adventure-
I always loved the story about a boy who finds a treasure map and with wit and luck finds his way to treasure, fame and more ![]()
my IF will follow the story with a male or female MC to the Treasure Island, you will have 4 Love Interests (maybe one more) who all are gender-locked male (maybe one female)
Love Interests:
JƤger and Hunter (your best friends, twins)
Long John Silver ( a pirate and obviously the villain of the story)
Captain Trelawney (the captain of the ship lol)
Second:
The Three Musketeers (book by Alexandre Dumas) -French Historical Adventure-
Your MC will play the role of DāArtagnan (male or female) and you will meet the Three Musketeers (male-locked and love interests), Constance and maybe Kitty (the maid of Lady de Winter) and you will fight for love and your country. Good luck, DāArtagnan, you need it.
Love interests:
Male: Porthos, Athos and Aramis
Female: Constance (maybe Kitty)
Third:
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthurās Court (book by Mark Twain) -Arthurian Saga-
You are a scientist on journey. A visit to Stonehenge changes everything when you rest for a moment close to one of the stones. When you wake up you find yourself in the 5th century, you are not alone but your medical and scientific gadgets are with you. You get caught and sentenced burning on the stake⦠How did you get out of this? plus, why does the boy call you mother?
Love interests:
Male: King Arthur, Sir Lancelot, (maybe Merlin)
Female: Queen Guinevere
Fourth: The Big Valley -Western-
I always loved Western, one of the series I really adored was Big Valley with Lee Majors. Iām not sure how I will write this story but the idea will be that you will help your brother Heath to meet up with the rest of his family (you are both only related through your mother, you have different fathers) Heathās father is or was the owner of a huge ranch and more than enough acre to place more than two towns in it.
Love Interests:
Male: Jarrod Barkley, Nick Barkley
Female: Audrey Barkley
They all have a lot of potential! But I was just in the play version of Treasure Island last semester, so Iām most excited about that one. Though I havenāt read the book⦠Itās a really fun story, and I think it would work well as an IF.
Though calling John a villain will certainly add to the surprise at the end for the uninitiated ![]()
Out of curiosity, how true to form of an adaptation of these books do you think youāll end up doing?
Close but not too close, it will have more relation to the Anime version. You will have a pet on the journey as well (like in the Anime version) if you like Treasure Island you really should watch the anime, the name is Takarajima, so very good ![]()
Given that medieval fantasy is popular here, I think these ideas could work.
One of my favorites, but Iām not sure how it will perform with this crowd.
If you decide to work on these, you have my interest. Are any branching or alternate endings from the source novels planned for these? Or will these be railroaded to fit the events of the actual books?
Yes, Arthurian stories are somewhat harder to get the crowd for.
Branching will be there, mostly to get the love interests to like you or be friends with you. All the MCs will have strength, intelligence, wit and charm to go through the story without fearing bad endings. Iāll try to do alternative endings for all the stories.
To be fair, neither of those books are medieval. Theyāre closer to the Georgian and Victorian eras.
Oh, I didnāt know there was an anime. I bet itās interesting. Though if you havenāt already, I would recommend reading the original novel if you go with it. Just so you can pull from multiple sources
Agreed. I just felt that they might appeal to the readers who enjoy medieval fantasy.
Yes, I have the novel/book at home
and the movies and the anime xD The anime is so good, itās very close to the novel as well with some little stories here and there to get through 26 episodes xD
Thatās true, they do have a certain historical adventure vibe that people tend to enjoy
I for one would welcome more time periods in my fantasy.
and another story I have ideas for is
Lady Oscar or the Rose of Versailles - French Historian Story-
Female locked MC.
MC is a girl raised as a man to become her fatherās successor as leader of the Palace Guards. A brilliant combatant with a strong sense of justice, Oscar/MC is proud of the life she leads, but becomes torn between class loyalty and her desire to help the impoverished as revolution brews among the oppressed lower class.
The story place around the time of Marie Antoinette and the French Revolution.
Love interests would be:
Male: Hans Axel von Fersen (noble), Andre Grenadier (best friend and servant to MCās house)
You may want to make certain Big Valleyās not still under copyright before you start working on that. That and Connecticut Yankee are the two Iād be most interested in.
The story/IF about Big Valley would only be a hobby project, so only for free.
